I'm actually a little worried about Damien, too. He hasn't been posting much over the last couple of weeks and it's been like nine days since his last post. I'm sending him a PM as well.
If we've lost both of them I'll definitely reopen recruitment, but we'll see.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Cool, it'll happen soon- whenever there's a good in-character moment to pass them off.
I'm instituting a mandatory two-week rule for dropouts. If someone doesn't post for fourteen days without explanation, I'll have to assume that they've dropped out and their character's fate is in my hands. That might mean NPC mode, might mean worse- depends on the situation and the character at hand. We've just lost Jenna and now Damien has two more days before he's forfeit.
Since my top two picks to replace Jenna didn't work out (still no response from Forest! Sadface...), and now it looks like we might lose out on Damien as well, any other suggestions from the recruitment thread for me to contact as backups? I know I personally was a fan of PirateDevon's Laird Belk, the summoner (with his best bud eidolon Woodruff); he might be able to fill in a magic slot, albeit not a healer, and he had a great backstory. Antoine Ficino might be another good option, though I'm still not super familiar with his class features.

So, ah, you wanted a good in-character moment to pass them off? :D
And yeah, you're nicer than me - I take over NPCing characters after about a week, a day during combat.
I'm cool with bringing in whoever - Laird and Antoine both seemed like pretty decent choices, and I've seen neither a summoner nor any of the occult classes in actual play, so it'd be interesting.

I...still...live...
Sorry for the loss of comms. Happy Thanksgiving, all! I'love read up and get caught up tonight.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
You betta!
Also, happy Turkey Day to all my fellow Americans, even if they're like me and say bah humbug to all the major holidays. ;)
I'm going to have to officially consider Damien out for now. I'm sending out another PM or so and if I get no answer over the next couple of days I'll just re-open recruitment.
Calia Pevanazee |
Not so much "bah, humbug" for me as "my husband has no paid time off left and I like getting paid time-and-a-half for working what I'd normally work anyway". :) Happy Thanksgiving, all those for whom it's a thing!
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
I'm gonna give it till tomorrow night on those PMs I sent out. If nobody answers by then, I'll re-open recruitment. Thanks for sticking with the game, you guys! I'll admit it hasn't been the auspicious start I would have liked, but these things happen.
At least I'm not as buried in work as I was when this thing started! :D
I hope nobody minds the sudden departure of Jenna and Damien. I was originally going to have them tag along a bit longer as NPCs, but Calia's prompt seemed to make more sense (and was very well-written, by the way!).
Calia Pevanazee |
Aww, thanks. :) I figured since we were by the entrance anyway...

No problem, the departure of Jenna and Damien fit in well here. We can drop the extra gear in with Roldare and send the mule back with them, it feels weird keeping it in a crypt. Hopefully folks will answer your PM's. The remaining four are still a fairly well balanced party, especially with Calia having 'disable device' hopefully we can keep moving forward.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Yup, we could theoretically keep going with just the four of you, but I'm going to go ahead and fish around to see if any other players are interested in hopping aboard. Who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky and somebody'll apply with a proper healer!
In the meantime, we can continue to carry on as before. The good thing about this setup is that, theoretically, you could bump into somebody just about anywhere in the crypt...
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Whoa, what a weird twelve hours or so this has been! So I reopened the recruitment thread last night before bed, and woke up to find that Crisischild (Forest) had replied to me and wanted in! And then, a few hours later, I checked the website again and, lo and behold, PirateDevon (Laird) had replied as well! So yeah, a bit belated, but it looks like we've got our replacements after all!
Now I just feel like a jerk for reopening the recruitment thread only to have to close it a couple of hours later. ;_;

"Forest'space'Hunter" profile name is taken.
What kind of monster would do such a thing? It's a truly unique name, someone took it with malicious intent.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
That's OK we will resist the urge to type anything silly like "Run, Forest_, Run!" Or. "My Ma_ma always told me..." or "My name is Forest_, Forest_Hunter."
I guess I should be careful, since Sariel is named after three saints of a God that doesn't exist in his world.
The name is reused, the original character was a Dhampir in a modern game, who had been abandoned at birth at a convent. The Nuns assumed because of his pale skin and shallow breathing he would die. So they named him after saints for the death certificate.
Reasons not excuses right, Forest? Welcome to the game!
Forest_Hunter |
I think if we equip Forest with a full suit of shiny plate armor, a white stallion and the answer to all life's problems he will have an easier time integrating himself into the party.

Sorry gang. Had a family emergency this week dealing with my mom. I'm still in the midst of it right now, helping her get better. I'll try and get something posted by this weekend.
And welcome aboard to our two newest victims volunteers! Can't wait to see what you can do!
Calia Pevanazee |
Yeah, I think we got hung up because I was waiting for some agreement that the southwest door was where we were headed. No need to release any nasties on us without agreement. :)
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
I'll get us all caught up tonight. Gotta get to my big computer so I can update the map. Suffice it to say, you made the DC for the lock; well, kinda. The original DC was completely ludicrous for a door that has no other way in and is fairly important to the proceedings.
Don't ever let anybody tell you I'm not a kind GM!
Calia Pevanazee |
I think we had one established before...but I don't remember what it was. Probably Doreen in the very middle, me and Laird around her, Artemis, Sariel, and Forest taking front/back/scouting as appropriate.
Artemis Lihanuga |
I'm good on point.
Budd the C.H.U.D. |
Not sure if the Paizo Golem ate my post or if I mistook Preview for Post and then let the computer shut down or what, but sorry for not posting yesterday- even though I totally did! (or tried to, anyway)
The holiday season is almost over, y'all! It's almost back to my ideal RPG'ing schedule!
Artemis Lihanuga |
No worries.
I've moved my meeple. My first act from my earlier post was to go and check out the lower area for drainage. I was curious why this spot, which looked like a pool, wasn't full of water versus the last room which had water (and keys). Then over to the stairs.
Laird Welk |
Yah sorry I have had like epic Christmastime Family Drama Extravaganza! type issues in my neck of the woods. Now through New Years might be a bit spotty.
Calia Pevanazee |
Merry Christmas, everyone! Or your winter holiday/non-holiday of choice; hope today's a good day regardless of what you're celebrating. :D
Laird Welk |
I want to apologize in advance that my access will be spotty through the 4th of January. Basically my family is having some issues that require more attention than anticipated and additional issues of illness add to the complication. I will do my best to check in as I can but don't wait for me, I guess is what I am saying.
Artemis Lihanuga |
Hope things get better for you and yours, Laird.
