GM Bret |
Orange falls to Shayna’s attack!
White drops their short sword and says “Whoa! I don’t want to die today! I give! I give!”
———
Combat over.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure |
"Praise be Razmir that he has brought insight to this poor benighted soul! His is the Glory and the Power!" Ramon offers to the surrendering fellow.
They will then give a poke to 'Orange' to make sure they don't die, if it isn't too late for them.
"It is His will you watch over your fallen brethren quietly, and gain Wisdom in His ways, much as you came to His path."
Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Pretty sure Orange is going to desperately want to believe this.
Kriklishik |
"Is that a closet? Let's lock them in there for now."
GM Bret |
Looking to the others, the remaining acoltye asks “Can I talk to someone less crazy?”
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
The closet should hold them for now. Thomas, can you rig the door shut?
GM Bret |
Alright, what are you calling a closet?
There is the stables against the west wall. Shows up as three tan squares.
Thomas Hasoshi |
When the guy drops his sword, Thomas quickly shifts back to his human form, before picking up and re-donning the mask.
"Of course, Vlazis. A moment please."
Disable device, -fix- the lock: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Fran Belmont |
^That's the stables, not an actual closet.
"Um...? I have a suggestion," Fran offers, raising her hand. "Put them in the stables for now, so they can think about what they did. Just lock or disable the doors so they can't escape their punishment!"
GM Bret |
You drag the unconscious acolytes into the stables and then have the other one walk in. There is tack, blankets, rope and various other things you would expect to find in a stable. The thing that is missing is any horses.
You have no problems tying up the prisoners. You manage to repurpose some supplies to use as gags. Although Thomas could wedge the door, he doesn’t really think it would do much good. If the prisoners get free, they could break their way out of the stables.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure |
Ramon, having been more or less dismissed by the remaining guard as 'crazy', makes their way up the tower to start examining the upper front wall area.
Perception rolls as appropriate, etc. Figure if we get started on the roof then it's less we have to do as a party which then speeds our time to investigate the rest of this location...
GM Bret |
T25
You go up the stairs and then a ladder to the top of the watchtower. You have a good view of the courtyard and the area around the temple to the north. There is an alarm pull cord here.
T26
The temple's gatehouse allows members of the faith to come and go as needed through a heavy portcullis and thick wooden doors. The mechanism to open the portcullis is here. It looks like it would be a difficult job to open it even with two people.
Requires a strength check. It also tends to make quite a bit of noise.
Kriklishik |
That stable was what I meant.
Kriklishik casts spark on the alarm pull. If it doesn't burn readily, he'll do it a few times in a few places, until he's broken it.
If it DOES burn readily, he'll use fire sculptor to keep it from spreading out of reach and into the house.
GM Bret |
Kriklishik has no problems burning away the portions of the alarm pull he can see.
Fran Belmont |
"Now all that's left is those two guards back inside and then whoever's upstairs," Fran says excitedly. "It's too bad it doesn't seem like we can really get to the upper levels from here though..." she muses as she looks around for another means to access the second floor from atop the wall.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
GM Bret |
Looking across the courtyard, there is a large stained glass window. If you had some way to get across, you could maybe break the window to get in.
I’ve adjusted the map so you can see the blue of the window on the second floor,
It would be messy and potentially noisy.
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
Perhaps it would be simpler to use the grand staircase. The other entrances seem more difficult without any corresponding benefits to our task. T6-T18 if I'm understanding the map correctly
GM Bret |
Yes, the up stairs in T6 connects to the down stairs in T18
Fran Belmont |
"That works then," Fran shrugs. "Oh well, it was a nice thought I suppose. Let's figure out a plan and then head back inside!"
Shayna Therinor |
Shayna straightens herself and walks bruskly to the two guards.
What are you two doing here? Get lost before I report you and schedule you a proper beating!intimidate: 1d20 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 5 = 24
GM Bret |
Shayna opens the doors and walks up to the two acolytes at the Worship Hall doors. The rest of the group follows a short distance behind her.
After she delivers her ultimatum, the two hesitate. They look behind her at Kriklishik, then looks at her again.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
They share a look between them, then meekly ask Kriklishik “Are we discharged?”
Kriklishik |
"What do you think? Of course you're discharged! Never did a lick of work to start with, anyway."
GM Bret |
The two acolytes hand a key to Kriklishik and head for the basement.
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
Vlazis leads the way up the stairs - from the second or third rank...
Fran Belmont |
"I can't believe that worked!" Fran whispers as the two acolytes head back down to the basement. "Let's just hope that will work again on the next people we run into."
Ramon 'Ray' Azure |
"So, how do you think they're going to react to the doors being barricaded, or was that undone? Think they're going to stand outside until told otherwise, or head on in and go to bed?" Ramon inquires thoughtfully.
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo |
Hmm. Good point. We should move quickly.
GM Bret |
Please place yourselves in T6 and let me know what you are doing.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure |
Ramon moves up a bit and is ready to provide cover and/or protection for the rest of the party as they advance.
Fran Belmont |
Fran thinks for a moment about seeing if Mr. Sunshine might go peek up the stairs before they head up but then thinks better of it. The point about the barricaded doors downstairs was a good one - they couldn't afford to take things slowly for much longer.
"Let's unleash hell! I mean, um, when everyone is ready, okay?" she whispers, hefting her longspear.
_______
I've adjusted Fran & Mr. Sunshine's positions on the map but if someone else wants to be last then that's fine. Otherwise, she's ready to head up the stairs!
Kriklishik |
Kriklishik whispers, "If we're going to go in blazing" heh heh "then let's do it!"
Ramon 'Ray' Azure |
"Don't forget to lock the door behind us and barricade it, just in case."
GM Bret |
Moved the last of you into the worship hall.
The group of you advances into the worship hall. Closing the doors behind you, Thomas makes sure they are locked and then you block them with a candle stand.
Fran: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Low light, +2 when Mr. Sunshine near

Thomas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Low light
Vlazis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Ramon and Kriklishik see the guards up on the second floor. They are watching the group.
Guards are on either side of the stairs, location T19. Figures are already placed there.
Kriklishik |
"Brothers! To arms! The temple is being assaulted! Quickly, guard this door!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
GM Bret |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
The guard on the left reaches up and pulls on a cord, causing a very loud alarm to go off. The guard on the right starts moving down the stairs, drawing their rapier.

Mr. Sunshine: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
