I've got a slider too. The words that it guesses when I text are crazy... lol.

Don't worry about formatting so much that you don't all post. Obviously something will be better than nothing, but formatting does make it easier when posting.

Do you know if the pbp threads allow pic uploads? (I don't think they would, as the server would have to be immense with all the action on here.)

So for posting pics for combats, etc, would I just upload to a site, and then link it, would that be the easiest for everyone (including me)?

You mentioned somewhere (I think) that you have been there for the last 5 years, or so. Is that the last 5 exactly? 5 years ago there were some "unpleasant" things that happened, and I need to know if you were in town for that, or not. It's not make or break for you or your story, just want to know what you might have gleaned from all of that happening, or not if you weren't there.

What is going on now will be important to your character if he was there for it 5 years ago, as this is a "moving on" sort of thing for the town with the cathedral being rebuilt. And if not it obviously won't. It's not necessarily going to affect you either way, it's just something I need to have you clarify, if you were there, or if you weren't. Thanks

So in reading your bio, you arrived in Sandpoint while the building was going on for the chapel, is that right? So that would put you in the town for the last 3-4 years or so, or shorter. Do you want to give me an approximate guess on how long you've been there, living? And do you live with anyone in particular, or at the temporary church (with pretty limited space)? I have some suggestions for you if you are at a loss for whom to live with, but if you have any suggestions then I am open to those too. But seeing as how I have an open book, and you don't I might be able to shed a little more light, but definitely don't want to overstep my bounds. Just want to clarify these things because they could slightly affect your place in the town. Thanks.

Bugsby was not here for the big thing that happened five years ago. Perhaps when he arrived people in town were subdued and disliked talking about it and so he focused on moving forward and starting fresh so didn't pester them about it? If that works for you.

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

Bugsby::
Yes that works. You would have found EXTREME distrust, as an outsider at first. Uncharacteristically so, for these people. They had clearly been through a LOT of trauma.

Veznutt Parooh (gnomish "old" wizard that owns a map shop up by the chapel) would have taken you in and made it easier for the town to get on your side. You probably took to the streets doing magics as well as you could back in those days, (if you could) to help cheer up the people. Which at first might have made some of the older people slightly weary. But over time, your fun attitude and hi-jinks have earned you a place in their hearts and homes. Kendra Deverin, the mayor, was also very instrumental in the town being non-judgemental and accepting of you as an outsider, and helped greatly to try to sway others in their opinion of you as an outsider.

Over the years, you have gained some knowledge of what happened, mostly through the kids and teens that adore you so much. You have heard a few variants of the stories, but the base roots are mostly the same.

It is called the "Late Unpleasantness" and what you have gleaned from the people in town, is that there was a psychotic murderer that went through the town killing multiple dozens of people. You first started inquiring about it when you noticed that a lot of the wooden buildings and carriages had chunks missing out of their structure. At first no one would tell you why, and resisted attempts to further find out in a very hostile manner. You finally learned what you could in bits and pieces the name "Chopper." For example, there is a Chopper isle, a few hundred feet or so north of the Old Light. There is also a "Chopper Alley" that is a back alley on the south end of town. You started putting together that Chopper was a "person" that lived in the town. Nobody will speak his true name, but apparently he was very well liked in the town. He carved birds in the wooden structures of people, and did so quite ornately. Then he moved to the isle, "to be with the birds." There his visits grew less and less frequent to the town, even though they built him a staircase to make it easier for him, because they liked him so much. Suddenly, people started turning up in the town - on practically a nightly basis - chopped into pieces, with their eyeballs and tongues plucked out, and their body parts would be all chopped up and stacked together at the scene.

For a town that has the occasional drunken murder or murder otherwise only every other year, one murder a night (26 in the month) was something absolutely unfathomable, and the town was in absolute hysterics. One night the town Sheriff Avertin, who had been driven to drink heavily by the absolute grizzliness of the frequent murders, and the absolute mystery of who did it, and how well they hid them, stumbled quite accidentally drunk on Chopper finishing off his latest victim - the 24th - in a back alley (now know as Choppers Alley) and was cut down. But in the process, he landing a mortal blow to the psychotic. The night watch, which had grown to the hundreds at this point, found the two bodies quickly, and followed the blood trail to the stairs leading down the cliff. At first they thought the killer was after the old man that they had grown to love so much, but as they filed in to the house, it became painfully clear that this was the place, as a mound of tongues and eyes were decorating an alter of some sort of demon bird, and his own eyes and tongue were plucked out as he was kneeling in front of the altar, as his last act.

This sent a metaphysical shockwave through the town, as over the last 15 years of this man being a resident, he was one of the most well liked, non violent person that they knew, and this sudden change as they saw it was absolutely unexpected. The people then went on to remove all of the magnificent sculptings and carvings that he had left throughout the town over the dozen plus years he lived there. There is no real reason anyone can give for this happening, but people have their opinions - whether right or wrong - if you could ever get them to tell you.

One month later, the church burned down, consuming everyone in it, and 4 surrounding buildings, to the north. For a town that had existed for 37 years without hardly any troubles to speak of, these two events were catastrophic. Kendra Deverin, a very good mayor in your opinion, rallied the people together and had a grand vision for the town. They weren't just going to build the same chapel, they were going to build a CATHEDRAL, one so big, and made of stone and glass, so as to never be burned down again. That happened 5 years ago, shortly before you arrived, and as you can see, affected the town greatly. This was called the "late unpleasantness" and people aren't really sure what the reasons were for it, though many have their opinions. You can find more out about that in the appropriate times. The town is very interested in shrugging this off and moving on with their lives, and are using the completion of the chapel as a way to do just that.

That work for you?

Reason I need to be specific about this, is that a couple things happened in the last 5 years, almost back to back, and you would DEFINITELY know about them. So if you were there during that time, I need to unload some information on you. :) So, one more time to clarify (sorry if I am beating a dead horse here) yes, you were here for that stuff that happened 5 years ago? - don't worry, your character won't be harmed or anything. Iodem, I need you to start thinking about how you are going to play out your "7 intelligence" and "7 charisma."

- To give you a base level, 10 is the average human intelligence/charisma, etc.

- A troll's intelligence and charisma are both a "6" value.

I said I was going to hold your characters to their flaws in the campaign description. The others can weigh in and give their opinion, but I'm not sure that a 7 INT and/or charisma would be walking up and saying things like "enlightened, assisted, accomplished, I'd be interested in, I doubt I could trump you in, however, I'd very much like to try my hand at," and so on.

LET ME BE CLEAR, I do not want your conversation to be limited to "Me like woman! Me dance with woman!" as you gracefully saunter around the dance floor, with the most impeccable rhythm of anyone out there. "You like dance with me? You pretty."

That seems like the rp would be suffering quite a bit, and I like the rp that you are doing. But in the interest of fairness, I need to hold you accountable for what is a lower than average stat. You are welcome to switch stats around and get them closer to averages, freeing up this dilemma.

Again, not picking on you, or singling you out. I like your character a lot, and the rp you are doing of it. It just won't be fair to anyone *spending points* in those areas if I let you Don Juan it up, and then also let you shoot arrows through creatures eyes because of a rediculously high DEX.

Sound fair? (Again not saying you have to go all cave troll on us. But I need to see a physical representation of a intelligence and charisma deficiency in the rp of some sort.)

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

(or an adjustment of those values.) Not trying to "destroy" your character. I hope you understand. :)

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

@ Zen - I need you to be thinking slightly along those same lines, though slightly less drastically. How do you intend to show your "8" charisma through rp?

@ Everyone - You are both welcome to respond to me in "spoiler" format or in open air. And you are welcome to hit the forums and see if anyone has any suggestions. I am open to working something out. Not trying to come in with a super hard line so as to make it not fun.

But it won't be fun for Xue and Bugsby when they are limited in combat because of their high CHA scores (although it does add in to their char concept with bonuses based on cha) but neither is extraordinarily good at melee or range, and Bugsby is going to get fatigued carrying anything more than a dinner roll and a bottle of water in his pack :)

Loving the game, don't want it to change drastically. Just want to keep things fair. Hope you understand.

That's why Bugsby only carried items that are edible, if stuff gets too heavy, quick snack! ;) I'm just grateful some items are scaled way down in weight for small folks, or Bugsby would be in trouble!

Here's a link to an Ability Score translation document I've referred to quite a bit in the past. Just a guide, not Pathfinder cannon or anything.

Far be it from me to give RP advice, there's so many different ways to RP things anyways, but hopefully the doc gives some ideas. RP-ing low strength seems 10 times easier in comparison!

@GM oh I guess that link is an example of how I was thinking you could use dropbox for maps or whatever docs need to be shared. I didn't fully understand how you'd decided to share that stuff, but there's always the dropbox option if you're still looking.

Iodem::

Okay, so approximately a year after you arrived there were some things that happened. I'm not sure how this will affect your rp, and I'm not even sure how it should, but this is something that you experienced along with the rest of the town:

5 years ago, a year after you arrived in Sandpoint there was a grizzly period of two months, that even still affects the town to this day. Sandpoint is a small town, approx 1200 people. Their is little to no violence, and it has been that way for all of the 37 years up to that point. You townspeople call these events the "Late Unpleasantness."

Here is what went down. The first thing that happened is you woke up with a terrible nightmare one night. You dreamed one night that a terrible evil was trying to swallow your soul. You ran as fast and far as you could, but you could not escape it. Instead of running, you deciding to turn and face it. Instead of running you turned, and grabbed the mist of evil by the throat and strangled it. You woke up in a murderous rage, that soon passed. You were on your way to the knife drawer... Trying to get a bearing of what you are doing in the kitchen, you notice that the chapel isn't still. There are people in other rooms next to who were are screaming, panting, pacing, hitting things. In fact, to the best of your knowledge it sounded almost like the entire town was busy with activity that ended quickly. Some quicker than yours. You have never told this experience to anyone. No one has ever talked about the night, either.

A month after that, you were asked to leave the chapel, as they were going to be doing renovations, and also the Priest Tobyn's daughter, Nualia was preparing for herself to join one of the Windsong Abbeys convents, and that she didn't need a "walking temptation" sharing the same air as her.

You were given a room at the various Inns in town when they had a spare room, and if none of them did then the mayor would let you sleep in one of the offices of the town hall. "Just till the renovations were done," you were told. Only they wouldn't ever be done.

A month after you were forced to leave the chapel, there was a psychotic murderer that went through the town massacring people on a nightly basis. For a town that only had the drunken brawl murder happen every other year, 26 people dead in 29 nights put the entire town on absolute level 9 code red. It seemed that every night there was a new body. The town called the killer "Chopper." Suddenly, people started turning up in the town - on practically a nightly basis - chopped into pieces, with their eyeballs and tongues plucked out, and their body parts would be all chopped up and stacked together at the scene.

The entire town was in absolute hysterics.

Nobody will speak his true name (Jervas Stoot), but he was loved in the town. He carved birds in the wooden structures of people, and did so quite ornately. Then he moved to the isle, "to be with the birds." There his visits grew less and less frequent to the town, even though they built him a staircase to make it easier for him, because they liked him so much. He was something of a celebrity, and an old dear. He was one of the kindest souls that anyone in the town had ever met.

The changed the name of the island north of town to "Chopper Isle" instead of Stoot's Rock, and "Stoots lane" became "Chopper Alley."
You don't speak his name. No one in the town does. His place was burned, the bridge was burned. His body was blessed, cremated, and his ashes fed into the sea (so as to prevent an angry ghost from coming back - you have actually heard rumors that there is a ghost wandering around the island, but you think that is just ghost tales.)

As if this wasn't bad enough, in itself one month later, the church burned down, consuming everyone in it (Father Tobyn a few of the helpers there, his daughter Nualia) and fire caught to 4 surrounding buildings, to the north. No one was hurt there, but the buildings were not salvageable and had to be rebuilt. For a town that had existed for 37 years with no troubles to speak of, these two events were catastrophic.

Many in the town are affected by all of this (how could they not be?), and many are using the chapel as a way to let all of this go, and to move on.

Otherwise I'll open it up for another player. (That will be all thursday with no post after 9, all friday w no post, all saturday w no post and most of sunday with no post) Jeff should be coming in any day too. Until we hear or don't hear from Zen we can carry on, and I'll roll anything that applies to her.

I hope everything is okay with Zen. But, we got to keep the story moving. I feel like we've been kind of dragging around waiting.

What do you guys think? 3 days no show, and no word, and we open it up?

Or what say you all? I've never done a PbP with people I don't know, so not quite sure what protocol is for booting, etc. I just know it's not fair to those waiting around with no word.

I've seen it handled multiple ways. As always its ultimately up to the gm, but many that I've seen have kept the pc but only for combat, but since this is the beginning of the adventure for us. So this would be an ideal, non-disruptive time to swap pcs in and/or out. I do feel the policy for dismissal should be made clear beforehand to any and all pcs. Your rules do ask for at least two posts a day.

In short, I think three days of no posts is plenty of 'grounds' for dismissal... but many other pbp that I've read give longer, like a week or 10 days. The gm usually bots the pc for the duration or until hearing from the pc. Zen could get sick and then catch up to us 'on the road' or something if the gm doesn't want the extra work. I'm in favor of allowing another in as well, who knows if Zens coming back or not.

Phew... that was more than I planned to say.

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

I'm certainly not thinking a forever type of dispersal if there is a legitimate excuse.

But I do think that we need to bring in another person to cover the potential rp lull that could happen with just 3 characters.

If it ends up that Zen wants in a week later or so, and has a valid excuse for being gone, and a valid reason for it not happening again then I'm okay with seeing about giving him a shot.

I think that 3 and a half days is ample time to check in and say "I'm sick. GOnna be down for a few days, or wife's sick, kid's sick," or "out of town for a few days, put me on autopilot, or whatever."

There are people that would break down the recruitment thread to get into this game, so we don't need to wander around with minimum rp going on, is my feeling.

I don't know the feasibility of this, but I've seen in-game calendars referenced repeatedly in other pbp's, especially ones in which the AP is supposed to span a long time. I've heard of PCs getting prego and giving birth for crying out loud. Anyways, I think a calendar somewhere would be helpful for me, do you think you could post one? If I remember right the Pathfinder calendar and our calendars aren't identical either. Thoughts?

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

I was actually thinking something like google calendar or the like, something more interactive. But just stating the day works for me too. There's been a few temporary bonuses given out and I know I'm not going to remember when a week has gone by in-game. Who knows how long that could take irl.... or u could track them! ;-)

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

I'm basically keeping a mental note on the stuff that you win.

The calender idea is a good one, though. Not sure how I would work in their calender to a "golarion" format. Also, We aren't going to progress every day in the posts the same as IRL, so it would be something that I would have to manually push anyways.

I'll look into adding one manually, unless you can think of workarounds for a group one.

Male **Smuggler's Shiv Hex Map** Mad Scientest - Level Absolute **Smuggler's Shiv Editable Map**

So I've got a recruitment thread going, and it is picking up steam.

I'm going to let you guys jump in on the voting process and tell me who you are liking.

We are looking for 2 if Zen drops, and 1 if we don't drop Zen just yet.

But after a few days of no show, no contact I have every intention of dropping tonight. Nothing personal, at all. Just gotta keep the game flowing.

If something comes up and Zen wants/needs back in after 9, and we want to let him back in, I would be willing to let Xue fade into the background so that we have more players.

So be watching the recruitment, and give me your input here and there as you see fit.
