Standing Bear |
updated, not much changed, just some defensives spells so Standing Bear can tank a bit better and a new language I still have to decide on. Got power attack as a feat.
Should we make camp to regain spells first?
GM BrOp |
Petronicus has made his wishes known. Also might be a good idea to check in with Lady Heidmarch and introduce a new PC!
Milo Bandersnatch |
"Hello. Bandersnatch. Milo Bandersnatch...."
"No. Down here! Yes, hello. Yes, I'm a halfling. Brother of the Windsong Abbey, sister to no one.
Get it? It was a joke." sigh
Yup. Anyhoo, I'm the new PC and I'm looking forward to joining the game! I'm a monk of the maneuver master school. I look forward to getting under the feet of our enemies and then get out from under their feet. Or something...
GM BrOp |
Hello Milo, and welcome! Please be sure to include your base stats in the "Classes/Levels" box of your profile so that it looks like everyone else's, and let me know if you have further questions.
Milo Bandersnatch |
I'd love to, but I'm new the this board and a bit uncertain about how it literally works. For instance, where's my profile?
GM BrOp |
Click on your character name, click on the "Profile" tab, then click the "Edit my profile" button.
Milo Bandersnatch |
Ah, but the 'frumious' bandersnatch will soon become the 'familiar' bandisnatch and then....
Wait. Never mind.
Thanks!
Standing Bear |
Hiya and welcome :).
Milo Bandersnatch |
Thanks, Standing Bear!
Another noob question: how does one arrange to get update announcements for new posts? I see logos for this stuff at the top right of the page here, but I find nothing in My Account or on any of the PbP pages that I've investigated.
....Or is it simply incumbent upon us to check in and see if something has been newly posted?
GM BrOp |
There are links on the top of the page for the various RSS feeds (one each for the gameplay and discussion posts, etc). If you have a program that can subscribe to RSS feeds, just copy the link.
GM BrOp |
So it seems that some want to stay and some regroup back in the city. You know how Petronicus feels, but you remember that Lady Heidmarch's husband talked to you before leaving and was willing to pay top price for any Thassilonian artifacts, especially things that deal with the Runelords.
Quintus Valdemar |
Hello Milo and welcome to our merry band of adventurers.
To get the campaign to show up in your main account you need to have at least one post in the gameplay portion of the campaign.
GM BrOp |
Does anyone want anything else from the loot sheet? I've heard that Mach wants the bladed scarf. Are there any other requests? We need to figure this out before we can move on.
Petronicus Krupt |
Unless someone minds, Petronicus will take the mw chain shirt, two smokesticks, and the mw composite short bow with 20 arrows, since he has the Str to carry it.
He will sell his existing chain shirt, and have the new mw chain shirt upgraded to a +1 chain shirt.
Standing Bear |
im fine :).
Howmuch money do we have to spend?

Howmuch money do we have to spend?
The exact number depends on if anyone wants any more of the equipment taken off the Tower Girls, which is why I need to hear from everyone (except Milo, who doesn't get a share of this loot). It will be roughly 1,400 gp.
GM BrOp |
FYI, the campaign page has been updated to include information about purchasing magic items. I have also included a comment that item creation feats other than Brew Potion and Scribe Scroll are not allowed in this campaign (they completely throw off the wealth-by-level curve).
GM BrOp |
Since no one else has spoken up, I'll assume that Um'bala and Quint aren't interested in any of the recovered loot. After selling everything, you all have the following gold:
Mach: 274 gp, 5 sp, 2 cp
Quintus: 1,430 gp, 5 sp, 2 cp
S. Bear: 1,430 gp, 5 sp, 2 cp
Um'bala: 1,430 gp, 5 sp, 2 cp
Petronicus: 1,060 gp, 2 cp
Standing Bear |
Think I'll get a cloak of resistance. Don't have any inspiration for anything else.
Um'bala |
Purchasing a whole mess of scrolls!
Level 1: protection from evil, identify, ear-piercing scream. Total Cost: 75 gp.
Level 2: glitterdust, web, see invisibility, scorching ray, invisibility, rope trick. Total Cost: 900 gp.
To scribe them into my book takes an additional 30 gp for the 1st level spells and 240 gp for the 2nd level spells, for a grand total of 1,245 gp. Timewise, it takes an hour per spell level, so that's 15 hours. I'll basically be down for a day or so, but that gives everyone time to pick up stuff around town.
GM BrOp |
Sounds good, Um'bala. Remember that you already had to wait a few days before meeting with Lady Heidmarch, which means that your scribing could very easily have happened during that time.
GM BrOp |
Do you want to change the marching order at all?
How does: Mach - Petronicus - Quintus - Milo - Um'Bala - Standing Bear sound?
Milo Bandersnatch |
Milo's size (his head is below missile weapons, etc. from behind him), movement/combat style (he can avoid attacks [good AC] and aid whomever's next to him in their attacks with combat maneuvers), and high senses suggest to me that he might be best used in front...
But I'll accept the groups decision on marching order, because I'm relearning the Pathfinder combat system, etc!
GM BrOp |
I figured that Milo could move ahead pretty easily and that Quintus has useful area-effect spells, but if you wanted to be between Petronicus and Quintus that would be fine.
Standing Bear |
I'm more of a front liner though ;). Think I'm more useful up front than the back

GM BrOp |
I agree, SB, but we need someone bringing up the rear and protect from attacks from the rear. Petronicus is happy to switch with you if you prefer to be in second place.
Milo Bandersnatch |
Given his my movement potential as well as senses, that probably makes me a good rear guard as well.
Not meaning to muddy the waters, though. I'll go wherever I'm put! ;)
Standing Bear |
I think that wouldn't be that bad an idea Milo, both me and Pet are slow due to armor but have reasonable hp and ac to take a beating.
Never in all of pathfinder history have I had an attack from the rear though ^^.

Then you haven't played any devious GMs like me >:)
Mach Star |
This is going out to all the games I'm involved in. I'll be unavailable from October 30th to November 1st, as I'm going to a local convention and I'll only have my phone for Internet access. I'll try to keep up to date with my campaigns, but for those games I'm playing in--please feel free to bot me to move things along if it comes to that.
For the campaigns I'm currently GMing--I'll be back as soon as I can on November 1st to move us along. :)
GM BrOp |
So since Standing Bear went AWOL, I brought in a new player to take over his character. He'll be taking over Standing Bear's PC, so you can pretend that he's the same person!
I'll let him introduce himself.
Standing Bear, Spirit Speaker |
Good evening/morning!
I will post in game in the morrow, but I wanted to hop in now that the profile is all done and ready to go and introduce myself.
I go by Hills on the boards. Real name Michael. I'm a mid-thirties gamer of 23+ years. I'm lucky enough to married to a woman who loves to game as much as I do, though PBP is not her thing (she is in the Skulls & Shackles games that I GM, but that is it).
I am about to be a 4 Star PFS GM with aspirations of hitting 5 by the end of the year.
I am bringing in a slightly different version of Standing Bear. I have kept his backstory and his affinity for spirits intact, however, I went for something I would enjoy a little more. I also wanted to keep the skills that he had used, so I did so, and tweaked a few things here and there, otherwise. He will move a little slower, hit about the same, be a little harder to hit, and be able to cast a bit more. I did lose 2nd level spells for now, but gained a lot of versatility in the long run.
I am on the boards every day, but as a restaurant manager, my timing varies wildly.
If there are any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know, and I look forward to playing with you folks!
Milo Bandersnatch |
Hiya, Michael. I'm PHarri on the boards to the extent that I've been on them much.
I too am relatively new to this particular game, but I'm also new to this site and inexperienced with the system (I've playing on RPOL.net for years and have played a Pathfinder table top once upon a time with GM BrOp), but am on the precipice of 50 and have been rpging since I was 12 or 13. (For the sake of my own vanity I won't do the math.)
That's a long way of saying that it's good to know that you fellows know the general game so well!
