Mach Star wrote:I think the drop-off is because the holiday season is starting--that means hurrying about prepping for Christmas, and presumably less time to post. That was my first assumption as well, but I just wanted to double-check in case someone had a different issue that I hadn't considered.
No issues here. You're doing fantastic. Every game has its slow points.

Quintus Valdemar |

Just a quick question, but how does Quintus need to update his character sheet? I think I got everything, but if I missed something please tell me.

You look good now. I think you were just missing the stats in your abbreviated stat block under your name.

GM BrOp |

Um, hello? Anybody out there? Anybody want to explore an ancient Thassilonian ruin inhabited by acrobatic, female cat burglars?

GM BrOp |

I'd like to float an idea to the group and get your feedback, if I may.
Would people be willing to take on another player? Specifically, I'd like to see if anyone might want to take over the role of Natalya. I'm not interested in adding a whole new character, but I think adding someone might perk up the RP and having them play Natalya would not disrupt things too much.

GM BrOp |

Well, it looks like Mach's dice luck is running out.
Well, it comes and goes. Ask any gambler.

GM BrOp |

It's Round 2 now?
Yes. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Everyone (except for Petronicus) can post.

GM BrOp |

Sorry to DMPCing, but when we are in combat we really need to keep the pace up, otherwise the adventure grinds to a complete halt. In non-combat RP, others can always move the action forward on their own, but in combat that is not the case.
I'm going to institute a new rule: Anyone who does not post an action within 48 hours of my last major summary post during combat will be DMPC'd.
EDIT: Please let me know if you disagree or otherwise have problems with this; I'm willing to discuss alternatives as long as they help keep up the pace of the game during combat.

GM BrOp |

I'm getting concerned that we haven't heard from Um'Bala in nearly two weeks and Nimt for almost a month. A certain amount of slowing down is to be expected during the holidays, but even those are three weeks in the past now. Do the others still feel this game is worth continuing? I'm willing to put up with some posting infrequency, but I'm wondering if we are past the point of diminishing returns.
What do you think?

GM BrOp |

I'm glad to hear that you're both still interested in the game. As I have mentioned a number of times in the past, I enjoy the interactions between the characters as well.
The idea of adding new players is a good one, and one I'd like to pursue should Um'bala and Nimt no longer be interested.
I don't think we can continue with half the players (not counting Petronicus) only posting once every two weeks or even more infrequently. I therefore have the following suggestion:
I consider the willingness to post something substantive (i.e. not just a single sentence that doesn't involve other PCs or NPCs) at least 3-4 a week the bare minimum for keeping a long-term game like this going. Anything less than this, and the game grinds to a halt IMO. How would you all feel if we set this as the new "floor" (i.e. below which you do not go) for the game, RL crises notwithstanding? Ideally, I would prefer it if everyone could post every day, but as I said, this is just the bare minimum to keep the momentum from slowing down too much.
Is this a fair and reasonable commitment to make, or is it too ambitious (or not ambitious enough)?
I hope that folks do not feel personally attacked by this suggestion; I'm just trying to create a good game and have certainly been on the other side of this discussion. I've dropped the ball on a number of games in the past (both as a player and as a GM), but the guilt that created in me, caused me to vow to never do it again.

I'm interested, it's just my posting schedule is very erratic right now due to a massive project at work taking up a lot of time. I think your solution is more than fair though, and I'll try to work this into my schedule.

GM BrOp |

Um'bala, remember to update your sheet to include the two powerful magic items you are carrying (the shard and the ioun stone). The second Tower Girl's save would have succeeded if your DC had been 1 pt lower.

GM BrOp |

This is a rules question, but can you Coup de Grace someone with non-lethal damage and just try to knock them out?
I don't see why not.

GM BrOp |

No worries. Here are the stats for the shard and the ioun stone that is slotted in it.
Shard of Pride (Major Artifact)
Aura overwhelming illusion; CL 25th; Slot none; Weight 1 lb.
DESCRIPTION
The Shard of Pride is made of coppery horacalcum. As long as the Shard of Pride is carried, its owner can use major image as a spell-like ability once per day, gains a +2 insight bonus on saves versus illusion spells, and gains a +2 insight bonus on all skill checks.
Curse: The owner suffers delusions of grandeur, and is sickened whenever she must serve another creature as a subordinate of any sort for as long as that arrangement persists. She cannot gain the benefit of the aid another action, nor can she take the aid another action.
The scarlet and blue sphere ioun stone that is slotted in it has the normal stats for an item of its kind, the most important being the +2 enhancement bonus to Intelligence.

GM BrOp |

On a completely different topic, I PM'd Nimt on Tuesday to see if he was still interested in playing in this game, but have not heard back from him. I'll give him until the end of the weekend to get back to me, but otherwise we should assume that he isn't coming back and recruit a new member. Does that seem fair to everyone?

GM BrOp |

Looks like we have consensus. I'll continue GMPCing Nimt in combat until Sunday when (if we haven't heard otherwise) I will begin looking for a suitable replacement.

GM BrOp |

Sorry, real-life confluence of birthday, parent visit and parent sickness, and other stuff too petty to mention. I am now back.

Standing Bear |

Hi everyone. Thanks for having me. Looking forward to play with you all :).

GM BrOp |

Please welcome Standing Bear, AKA Jolly Roger, who will be joining us very shortly.
Also, I've updated the map link at the top of the page to reflect the layout of the current level. Note that all of you aren't on it because we're not in a combat situation. You are currently in the room at the bottom of the image.

Standing Bear |

I'll start reading back a bit to catch up on the story. Let me know when and how you want to introduce me to the group BrOp

GM BrOp |

FYI, I had so much fun playing Petronicus in this game, that I created him as a PFS character. He's been in a couple of games, and is currently in a module (Godmouth's Heresy). You can see his sheet HERE. He's a little different from our boy here, but has the same winning personality ;)

GM BrOp |

One thing that we forgot (because it wasn't listed in her inventory) was that Nimt was carrying the wand of CLW we all chipped in for. That would have probably been handed to Quintus, since he has the ranks in UMD. Might be quite useful right now.

Petronicus Krupt |

Standing Bear: I don't know if you've read all the way back through our IC and OOC threads, but if you haven't I wanted to give you a quick heads-up about Petronicus Krupt, my GM puppet.
He obviously started off as a PC, but when our previous GM wasn't able to keep us going, I (Branding Opportunity) took over. Be forewarned: Petronicus is a bit of an a@!#~*+; well, no, he really just is an a#+*&~$, especially when it comes to non-Chelaxians. He's a bright-enough guy, but he has a hard time getting along with others. Please don't take anything he says as coming from me (BrOp). I'm merely trying to play a less-than-shining member of the Pathfinder Society; nothing is meant to cause serious offense. If I do overstep the line and annoy you, Jolly Roger, please let me know and I will tone him down.
