GM Bold Strider |
@Geatan: How are you in two tables at once? Also, the window on the western wall was stated two of my posts ago. Also, we are not in initiative because no one has done anything for initiative to start.
The "angsty teenager" yells some demands through the door at the Pathfinders. "I want twelve pizzas! Pepperoni and Green Peppers only! If I get anything else, I'm killing everyone! Also, I want a genie lamp with a hot lady genie! I'm talking a solid 10 on the Richter scale hot! Not that dumpy genie that the kid found in Katapesh! AND NO DUDE GENIES!" the Aspis agent bellows. It is hard to tell if he is serious or just wasting time.
Sue Basilbottom |
Sue whispers "I'll keep him talking, you guys find a way in."
Sue smiles and talks through the door "Well, first things first, are the hostages alright? How many are there?"
Géatan Émond |
Core and I verified with the Venture-Captain. It's okay.
If I remember there a window we can accesswhispers Gaétan. I will go and try to climb it. But if a better one than me accept...
climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The hands of Gaétan shakes too much and he can't find a grip.
I really need to calm down, if we were in combat, I would have hit an ally.
Fizzbeard Dragonfiend |
Fizz nods to Sue and whispers back, "Good thinking but I don't think I can get up to that window."
Nonetheless Fizz follows along to the side and tries to climb up towards the window. What can I do from a window? This is no way for a hero to approach the situation!
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
After an unsuccessful effort, Fizzbeard rejoins Sue shaking his head. He tries to pick up any cues whether this guy is actually dangerous or no or whether he is stalling for backups.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If Fizz gets the sense that the hostage-taker does not actually have the ability to kill the hostages, he will barge up to the door and kick it in. Otherwise he whistles to a nearby bird flitting by. Using speak with animals, he tells the bird, "Go look through that window and tell me what's going on in there. Is the man dangerous? How many hostages? Can he kill them?"

The windows aren't openable. Think like a church's stained glass.

Thorgan studies all means of entry into the room.
Perception (secret way in?): 1d20 + 17 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 17 + 9 + 5 = 36

"Ahl'right. Less jess leap through th' windows like heroes. Catch 'im by surprise. Worst case if 'e offs a Pathfinder, there's always th' Pathfinders prestige t' bring 'em back!"

Can you conform the large window doesn't have curtains drawn to prevent us from looking in and surveying the room...?
Thorgan works to quietly ascend to the window, whether it's to see in past the curtains, or to see if it makes sense to simply smash in, perhaps with the aid of magic.

hahahaha.... It will be soo much easy to just break a door with our strength or weapon
After a few tries, Gaétan must face the fact that climbing this is impossible without a climb speed.
He looks at thorgal and says. "You know, a have potion of spider climb or we can change of tactic.."

Sue yells back through the door "Still here! Tell me what goes on the pizzas again. It was mushroom and sausage, right?"
Sue is trying to distract and buy time.
Bluff: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Sento Hana |
Sento sighs "I assumed those two had a plan when they climed the building that they didn't share with us She says as she motions for Tysi, Sue & Fizzbeard The Gnome Patrol to form up behind her as she tries to break down the door.
If able Sento will snap into dragon and pummeling style and cast guidance on herself also aids from the gnomes would be welcome as would a crowbar if possessed by one of the gnomes
str check+ guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 19
if punching it down looks reasonable: 2d10 + 40 ⇒ (3, 10) + 40 = 53

Enough!
"Ach, we dun even know if 'e has a hostage in! This could jess be a big waste o' time!"
Thorgan gestures to Tysi.
"Keep 'em talkin' n' distracted. Ask how many hostages, n' if e's sendin' one out fer good will while we get 'is pizzas ordered!"
Thorgan mumbles some dwarven words as his boots spring wings and he floats up to the window, moving up to the edge for a peek within.
Just enough to see in while minimizing being seen.
Using 1 use of the day's usages of the winged boots.
Fizzbeard Dragonfiend |
Fizz nods at Tysi's plan. "Oh my! Those look quite tasty! And there's far too much for us to finish alone!"

A dull hum emanates from Skyreach as the ground trembles, trees sway, and glass shatters. A moment later, most of Skyreach’s northwest tower tears free from the keep; however, rather than crash to the ground, a visible aura holds the structure aloft and causes it to float above the Grand Lodge. Even the shower of stone blocks floats, swirling around the airborne tower in a nimbus of speeding debris.
Géatan Émond |
We are losing time, thinks Géatan. time to be impulsive.

"Bring it closer to the door! Waft the smell through that crack the she-hulk made!" yells the kid.
Thorgan |
Thorgan quickly lowers his head before he is seen and has to stop himself from pressing his palm to his forehead. He gives Geatan a knowing nod before floating down to inform Sue and Sento of what he's seen.
"Ach, some sort o' trap in some sort o' goblet. 'E 'as a several hand around 'is neck, too."
Spellcraft (general awareness as to what may transpire?): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

Thorgan tugs his beard.
"Where's a mage with a wall o' force when ye need em? 'E could simply wall off th' wee ones from whatever is n' th' goblet! Or use one o' them fancy doors to get someone n' t' grab it!"
Crowdsourcing for ideas here. I imagine this is our last encounter of the act, so we're needing something clever to diffuse this terrorist act it seems...

How are you coordinating the attack? The window is on the far side, aka Sue is nowhere near Thorgan or Geatan?
@Sue: Need a Stealth check unless you plan on openly stating that you are busting in.

Geatan lines up and arrow and blasts the window nearest to him, shattering the glass in a mighty crescendo. The hostages cringe as the falling glass hits the floor around them, some of them suffer minor cuts as the half-orc leaps at the sudden sound.
Initiative:
Half-Orc: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Fizzbeard: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Sue: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Sento: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Thorgan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Tysi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Géatan: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Sue poses some sort of philosophical question to the half-orc, but he clearly does not care about her question. "Rovagug? Haha, you are silly! Now, the hostages will die!"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37
Initiative:
1st: Sue; Sento; Thorgan; Tysi
2nd: Half-Orc
3rd: Geatan; Fizzbeard
Sento Hana |
hearing the sound of glass breaking Sento focuses herself into striking down the door one last time before the show above kills the hostages inside.
dragons style+pummeling style power attack so hardness only applies once.. if the door so happens to be evil add 2d6 for each attack :P
attack on door: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26dmg: 1d10 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
attack on door: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22dmg: 1d10 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
placing her fingertips on the door Sento focuses all her power on one central point as she attempts a finger length punch.
Sento Hana |
taking a deep breath as her strike rips the door asunder Sento takes a moment to look the half-orc in his beady eyes
"You have made your decision, may make a more wise decision in your next incarnation" She says in a somber tone as she steps out of the way revealing the arrow wielding gnome behind her.
will also 5ft step so Tysi has a clear shot
Tysi |
My, you're a tall one!
Tysi will shoot her enhanced arrows (electricity) at the orc.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 for 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 points of damage.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22 for 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 points of damage.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 for 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 points of damage.
Then she'll five foot step back in case party mates need more room.
Thorgan |
Sorry, was supposed to be at a wedding today but hardcore stomach flu struck our house.
Thorgan yelps as the window shatters, but with the power of his winged boots he swoops in to do what he can to save some hostages.
He'll swoop in and land next to the half-orc to try to prevent him from doing anything to harm the hostages. Not sure if he has enough movement to ready an action at the end, but if so he'd ready to prevent the half-orc from completing his own action.

Tysi unleashes a barrage of arrows at the half-orc as he cackles maniacally. The electricity arcs through his body, but doesn't drop the Aspis agent as Thorgrim tries to corner him, however the Aspis still has a maniacal grin on his face.
He takes a deft step backward and begins a magical incantation, but the dwarf surprises him with his agility, keeping up with him, so we switches into a defensive casting posture.

The man smiles and whispers to Thorgan. "You might want to duck, Pathfinder..."
A ghostly Mage Hand moves from his to grasp the goblet and overturns it above the initiates. A glowing red bauble tumbles from the goblet as it spins on the wires. Everyone grows silent as the bead hits the floor...
BOOOOOM!
A Fireball engulfs the Pathfinder initiates as everyone takes cover. Thorgan hits the deck as Gaetan ducks down below the edge of the window. Tysi, Sento, Sue and Fizzbeard scatter from the doorway as the blast erupts from the doorway in a burst of flame.
The Pathfinders recover to find the charred bodies of the initiates littering the hall and the Aspis agent seems to have disappeared. Thorgan detects teleportation magic in the wake of the agent.
---
Marcos Farabellus makes rounds on the grounds and gathers all Pathfinder teams to him, calling for silence while he relays new information.
“Pathfinders, we have determined the nature of the threat which confronts us! As many of you have already ascertained, a number of Aspis Consortium agents remained trapped in the Hao Jin Tapestry after we captured their back door into it. To our surprise and regret, there remained a means to communicate with the outside world and the serpents have been conspiring. This raid is comprised of two different Consortium groups coordinating in a two-pronged attack. They are aided by creatures from within the tapestry, whom they have deceived about our goals and intentions.”
“At this time, we’re still unsure about what is making Skyreach’s tower hover, but we know for certain that someone has activated the Hao Jin Tapestry. Normally the Master of Spells Aram Zey would be the one to troubleshoot this kind of problem, but he is nowhere to be found. We don’t have time to wait for him, and he may be in danger. I’m sending you in as search parties and giving you temporary clearance to travel into the restricted sections of lower and middle Skyreach. Check on the Sky Key and the archives while you’re there. Zey may have left notes around that could tell us how to shut down the tapestry."
“We must act with the utmost haste. I believe the Consortium’s plan has backfired on them, but there’s no telling how long before they regroup or, worse still, somehow make the situation worse.”
From here, you can choose to aid E1, E2 or E3. Each area only has one encounter. If we are quick, we can take down all three.
