Mohok |
Mohok can't help but give a fierce snarl at Parke as he falls to the ground, then calms down and says, "Know who your friends are, man!" When Yanos heals him, Mohok expresses his thanks, then gives himself a tap of his own healing wand to smooth away the last of the damage he's suffered.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Ah, well. Puts him at 74/76 hp.
As Yanos heals Parke, Mohok stands over the fallen man, blade at the ready, hoping he won't have to do him any more harm.
Dr. Zephyrus Vitruvian |
"Allow me," says Dr. Vitruvian, pushing past Yanos with a slender vial of pale blue liquid. After handing it to Mohok, he lays his materials out on a far corner of the desk and sets to work brewing up another one.
Let me spare you some wand charges; I'll give him 2 infusions of cure light wounds: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (7, 1) + 10 = 18 (one of which I have on me, the other of which it will take me 1 minute to brew fresh), and one use of Healing Touch (5 more points of healing).
GM Bold Strider |
As the sword glitters in the sunlight that reflects through the nearby window, Parke remains unconscious at your feet as Yanos sends out a blast of positive energy.

Mohok |
Thanks for the healing, all!
Mohok looks down at the unconscious Parke and says, "Hmm, guess I hit him harder than I thought." He draws out his healing wand and taps the man a few times.

That should get rid of the non-lethal.
GM Bold Strider |
As Mohok applies some healing to the man, Parke awakes with a start, but the hold of the sword seems gone from the man. "What happened?" he asks looking around in horror at the blood that litters the store near him.

Mohok |
Mohok lowers his blade, but keeps it handy, saying, "You picked up the sword and went crazy, Parke. Nearly killed me, and I almost killed you in return. You remember anything after picking up that sword?"
Pai Kromnite PFS |
"There is a theme of loyalty and retribution, but this phrase boggles me..."Ay... ya... far... tho... la."
"That's the last thing you said that I recall."
Mohok |
"How about this," Mohok suggests to Parke, "we'll stay right here and watch while you put the sword - without touching it, mind - in the safe and lock it. Once it's safely tucked away, we can go take care of the harpies, nasty things."
Turning to his companions, he says, "It's nice to know what we're going to be fighting, instead of having it leap out at us unexpected. Harpies have a tricky song, I'm going to pick up some earplugs, anything else we should bring along? Also, they can fly, so we should either be ready with bows and such, or have a way to fly with them."
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Mohok has a potion of fly, but he's unlikely to be able to keep up with or fly as well as harpies.
GM Bold Strider |
"I'm sure you can find earplugs somewhere." says Parke as he grabs a cloth and picks up the sword, placing it into a safe in the floor.
As he says this, Parke seems a bit perturbed by Mohok's tone. "I understand what has transpired, but do keep in mind that I am the Venture-Captain of the region."
"I think that if you slay Tylaca the harpy, then the sword's bloodlust will be shattered. This is just a thought that has been niggling at me since I came back from where my mind went." Parke explains to the party.
Mohok |
Mohok lifts one scarred eyebrow at Parke's admonishment, replying, "You've got my blood on your blade, and your blood's on mine. We really gonna worry about talkin' nice to each other at this point?"
He listens to the man's directions in silence, in order to avoid upsetting him further, but can't help thinking, I hope his theory about the harpy and the sword is right, he's already been more than a bit surprised by how that blade works.
Kryssa Lightbinder |
Kryssa whispers to Mohok on the way out, "This is why I'm attached to my old ball and chain." She motions to her heavy flail. "People don't usually talk back at you with a broken jaw."
Mohok |
A grin crosses Mohok's ugly face at Kryssa's comment, and through a deep chuckle he replies, "Cuttin' their heads off usually keeps 'em quiet too, guess I'll have to try harder next time."
GM Bold Strider |
Sorry about missing updates on this scenario. Didn't see any posts here... :( Not sure why.
The Pathfinders grouse as they follow Parke's map. They meander out of town and follow the path into the forest to the east.
In a slight forest clearing atop a low rise choked with saplings and winding vines, the ruins of an abandoned cathedral stand. The gray-stoned building lacks walls throughout most of the western side of the structure, and a bell tower stands 30 feet above the ground, seemingly intact aside from a few cracks and a blanket of twisting vines crawling up its face. A musky smell surrounds the area, mingled with rot and decay.
This cathedral once stood as a place of worship for Aroden. Even before his death, this chapel was a tiny outpost in the wilderness, visited only by a small congregation. After Aroden’s death, the place fell to ruin and the forest began to consume it. More than half of the cathedral’s roof has crumbled.

Can Pai have found some earplugs? If so, she will put them in as the group begins exploring.
"Should we try to be stealthy, or just call them out to face us?"
Dr. Zephyrus Vitruvian |
I'll say that before heading out, I used one of my open infusion slots to brew owl's wisdom.
Dr. Vitruvian is delicately munching on what looks like a black cracker, or possibly dried seaweed, as they approach the abandoned cathedral.
false life: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
He flinches ever so slightly as he takes in the scene, and absent-mindedly fiddles with a tiny silvery charm around his neck.
"Unless perhaps one of you knows a pertinent trick, we might as well confront them directly."
The Physician |
Yeah, I'll have earplugs. As we approach, Heightened Awareness on myself, and Heroism on Mohok and Kryssa.
Also, do I still have the curse penalties? If so, Heroism on myself too.
Mohok |
"Straight at 'em works for me," Mohok says somewhat loudly, a pink earplug of waxed cotton sticking out of each large green ear. "Let me just get somethin' ready, I almost never remember to use this." He draws a wand from his belt pouch and runs it across the three hilts projecting over his shoulder as he mutters a few words, then he draws Sound Judgment and nods that he's ready.
Cast lead blades.
Also, Mohok got a 20 on Knowledge (nature) for info about harpies, we should probably make a few more rolls and make sure we know everything we can about them. Dr. Vitruvian, Physician?
Dr. Zephyrus Vitruvian |
I'll say I made my own with alchemical leftovers - I'm usually 100% scrupulous about purchases, but I'm allergic to having a fraction after my gp net worth. I am, of course, now wearing them.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
On the way here, Dr. Vitruvian has absentmindedly been sketching a complete layout of harpy internal anatomy, complete with labels, freehand in one of his notebooks.
Mohok |
"Right, let's get to doing it," Mohok says in his deep rumble. He strides forward, pausing at the door to take a quick look inside before moving into the abandoned cathedral.

I've reached my final destination in deployment, so I should be able to post again. So far, everything is safe. I'll try to read over the last page of posts and get something in as soon as I can.
Yanos |
I'll also purchase some Ear Plugs, and wear them as we begin to enter the old temple. Inside, I'll grab my spear, and advance cautiously, trying to leap over some of the obstacles as swiftly and silently as I can.
Prior to entering, I'll cast Barkskin on Mohok (+3 Nat Armor, 1 hour), and Bull's Strength on myself.

As you move into the chapel, you see that there are three harpies perched on the broken down pews, ready to fight as they grin at the lot of you. "Mmm... food has been delivered." says the one wearing the helmet.

Not sure if any of his companions fell victim to the harpies' call, The Physician finishes his current performance with a flourish, and launches into a performance of his own to counter the dreadful song.
Saving finale on someone who failed (claim it if you want it) to give them a reroll. Move action to switch to Countersong, which I only just realized I can't do with Oratory, so I'm doing it untrained. Standard action draw out a scroll of suppress charms and compulsions, just in case.

Mohok manages to shake off the harpy's entrancing song, muttering to himself as he does so, "Nasty singing things! How's a man supposed to fight 'em if they're way up there?" He dips a meaty hand into a pouch on his hip and pulls out a small vial, which he drinks down, making a sour face as he does so.
