Navaeh |
reposting my edit from my last post:
Edit: missed the part about being 15' in the air. looks like I forgot to buy another potion of fly, and I haven't upgraded my bow to magic so...
You guys have a way of dealing with these things? he asks the ones left. I kind of get the feeling we should retreat. I'll cover you.
Save my rolls for a readied action if one comes in range.
Grimnir Foehammer |
Yea all thats left is me lol..
Grimnir will cast Divine Favor and back away 20'
"Back out Navaeh, we gotta regroup!"
I see my latest purchase is gonna come in handy right off the bat.. Last Scenerio the group got it handed to em by Incorps so I added Ghost Touch to my weapon..
Navaeh |
Ham, make sure you grab Jar-Jar. I don't want to have to face 5 ghost when we come back.
Grimnir Foehammer |
Who's Ham? I think you and I were the only ones not panicked..
Also Gm, did my 29 knowledge roll not garner any additionla info other than they are Ghosts? I know ghost dont normally have a panick causing attack is why i ask.
Navaeh |
If you haven't noticed yet Nevaeh likes to give people annoying nicknames:
Grimnir FoeHammer = Ham
Jarlgur = JarJar
Halbarad = Birdy
Sterling = Soaps
Grim - ??? I'm working on it
Grimnir Foehammer |
I hadn't realized i had aquired a nickname sry.. Pretty Grimnir doesn't realize it either..
Sterling the Zen Archer |
Sterling keeps running around in circles screaming
this might go on for a little while past the allotted time... he's not the brightest bulb :P
Navaeh |
Nevaeh waits impatiently for a ghost to get close enough to hit.
Come on you dead bastards stop the racket and lets play!
GM Bold Strider |
Sorry for the delay. At Oktoberfest and the internet at the hostel is terrible. Doesn't work most of the time.
Naveah waits for a ghost to come by him, so he can attack. Grimnir runs out of the room and casts Divine Favor.
The ghost start spinning faster and faster, their song getting louder! "The shadows call out for souls. Raise your voices. The greatest scream choir will be heard this day.”
The fear is extended an extra round.
Grimnir thinks that they are normal ghosts but that the Song of Extinction has given them some special abilities to incite fear.
Initiative:
1st: Grimnir; Navaeh; Jarlgur - Panicked for 5 rounds; Halbarad - Panicked for 5 rounds; Sterling - Panicked for 5 rounds; Grim - Panicked for 5 rounds; Misfortune - Panicked for 5 rounds; Axe Beak - Panicked for 5 rounds
2nd: Ghosts (#1; #2; #3; #4)
Grim Dougal |
Grim and Misfortune are still off jogging.
Grimnir Foehammer |
Since his companions will not break until the ghosts are dead Grimnir drinks a fly potion and activates a judgement.. Selecting Justice and Destruction
Navaeh |
@Grimmer,
Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. I just readied on the first round now its the second I'm going to grab Jarlgur and try and retreat. Not sure if you can retcon your action or not.
Nevaeh, runs over to Jarlgur and grabs the back of the man's collar, trying to drag him out the door.
Jarlgur Flamnord |
Not sure what Jarlgur is doing. If he is frightened, he would try to make for the door. If he is considered cornered, he can fight.
Frightened: A frightened creature flees from the source of its fear as best it can. If unable to flee, it may fight. A frightened creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. A frightened creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.
GM Bold Strider |
@Navaeh: That's fine, make a CMB check for grapple against Jarlgur.
@Jarlgur: You aren't necessarily cornered, but you found solace in a small alcove away from the ghosts. You will make an AoO against Navaeh for dragging you away and through a visual sight of the ghosts.
The ghosts rotate faster and faster swirling around, singing their song. “Beg, beg for pain. The Midnight Lord will show his might. Learn to welcome the chains.”
The fear effect is extended for one extra round.
Initiative:
1st: Grimnir; Navaeh; Jarlgur - Panicked for 5 rounds; Halbarad - Panicked for 5 rounds; Sterling - Panicked for 5 rounds; Grim - Panicked for 5 rounds; Misfortune - Panicked for 5 rounds; Axe Beak - Panicked for 5 rounds
2nd: Ghosts (#1; #2; #3; #4)
Grimnir Foehammer |
Are they just cowering in place or are they running away? Eventually they would be beyond the radius right? Or is it just if you can hear them? Sorry but im trying to decide my plan of action..
Grimnir Foehammer |
Grimnir flies up and actiavates Bane on one of the Ghosts before attacking..
Ghost Touch Power Attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
Damage: 4d6 + 27 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 2) + 27 = 41 With a Ghost Touch Weapon it should be full damage
Navaeh |
Just realized that if Hal and Sterling were panicked then they would have dropped their bows! Also this means Jarlgur is unarmed and can't make attacks of opportunity. So Nevaeh will try to get Jarlgur out the door on Round 2.
Grapple on Jarlgur: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Come on JarJar we have to get you out of here. As the large man squirms out of his grasp, Fine suit yourself! Looks like we'll be doing this the Hard way The Paladin moves over to one of the dropped bows and picks it up testing the pull.
Round 3:
Since the grapple fails Nevaeh is going to go on the offensive and pick up the strongest looking bow.
Ham, you think we can take these bastards on our own? he calls to the dwarf.
Grimnir Foehammer |
Not Raging yet Grimnir will respond.. "Hard to say, I guess we'll find out.."
Navaeh |
Alright, you start on the right and work your way to the middle I'll do the same on the left. Calls out Navaeh as he starts firing arrows at the ghost to east.
To try and speed things up here is my round 4 attacks (assuming the ghost keep extending the fear and don't come within Melee range.
Sterling's +2 adaptive Mighty (+5) darkwood composite longbow
Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Sterling the Zen Archer |
Cowing in fear beyond the door you hear "We're all goin' to di'!!!"
[sarcasm]I like this, let's play hide and seek with ghosts more often!! [/sarcasm]
Navaeh |
Watch it Sterling, sarcasm is Nevaeh's shtick ;)
I hope everyone is ok with Grimnir and Nevaeh talking on the ghosts. I couldn't see any other way of getting everyone out of the room and stopping the ghosts from just extending the panic effect for another hour.
Sterling the Zen Archer |
Watch it Sterling, sarcasm is Nevaeh's shtick ;)
First, you take my bow, then you take my sarcasm away????? I SAY GOOD DAY SIR!!!! :D
I hope everyone is ok with Grimnir and Nevaeh talking on the ghosts. I couldn't see any other way of getting everyone out of the room and stopping the ghosts from just extending the panic effect for another hour.
S*** happens when the Paizo dice gods decide to screw you over :P have fun!
Grim Dougal |
All good, just make sure you win!
Halbarad of Arbor |
Go for it. Give 'em hell the Boneyard.
GM Bold Strider |
Grim flies up in the air and slams his greatsword through one of the ghosts, dispersing it with ease. Navaeh grabs the stoutest looking bow.
The three remaining ghosts keep singing but charge Grimnir, surrounding him and restarting the verses.
Corrupting Touch: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16
Corrupting Touch: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
Corrupting Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Grim winces as negative energy flows through his body.
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Navaeh launches two arrows at a ghost and severely damages it.
Initiative:
1st: Grimnir; Navaeh; Jarlgur - Panicked for 4 rounds; Halbarad - Panicked for 4 rounds; Sterling - Panicked for 4 rounds; Grim - Panicked for 4 rounds; Misfortune - Panicked for 4 rounds; Axe Beak - Panicked for 4 rounds
2nd: Ghosts (#1; #2; #3 @ 10 damage)
Grimnir Foehammer |
Well at least they aren't full fledge ghosts..
Grimnir rages and attacks twice, using bane again. He'll split attacks if the 1st dies.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (19) + 24 = 43
Attack 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Confirm 1: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43
Dam 1 plus Crit: 6d6 + 56 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 6, 3, 2) + 56 = 75
Dam 2: 4d6 + 28 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 6) + 28 = 44
See I blew a partial load and went hard pipe hitter for this and apparently it wasn't needed..
Grim Dougal |
Gone jogging :)
GM Bold Strider |
Two of the ghosts melt under Grimnir's greatsword, leaving only the partially dissipated ghost who lashes out at Grimnir.
Corrupting Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Grimnir feels a bit more pain flow through him, but he knows that he will take down the apparition and does so with one more swing, breaking the fear effect that has overtaken the rest of the party.
Current Status:
1st: Grimnir @ 8 damage; Navaeh; Jarlgur; Halbarad; Sterling; Grim; Misfortune; Axe Beak
Grim Dougal |
Grim and Misfortune are now really angry, and running in for some revenge.
They stop and prop, readying for enemies to come and get them.
Ready an attack if engaged
Navaeh |
Nevaeh launches a couple more arrows at the last ghost attempting to end the fight.
Sterling's +2 adaptive Mighty (+5) darkwood composite longbow w/ Firing into Melee
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 10 - 4 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 4 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Grimnir Foehammer |
If not dead Grimnir will swing twice at the last ghost.
Ending Rage and No Bane..
Attack 1: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Confirm: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Dam 1: 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (5, 5) + 21 = 31
Dam 2: 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (2, 6) + 21 = 29
Good thing those were pansy ghosts.. Normally woulda been 7d6 damage per attack.
GM Bold Strider |
I think the ghosts were not statted correctly. Even the high tier ghosts only deal 1d6 damage, which is pointless, hah. Also, I was just assuming that you guys killed the last one. It had 8 HP left. They had 18 HP and a +4 to hit. You guys are out of combat.
EDIT: I looked up the Corrupting Touch ability in the Ghost template. The damage should be equal to the (CR)d6 of the monster, thus each attack should had dealt 4d6. No need to retcon though because you are in no danger even if I roll all 6s and you all have CLW wands.
Grimnir Foehammer |
After slaying the last ghost Grimnir pulls a wand and heals himself..
2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 8) + 2 = 13
After his companions have regained their courage.. "Well it's obvious to me this Lyric thing is giving powers to the denizens here. You all should stay close to Navaeh from now on, so maybe you don't get scared again.."
Grim Dougal |
"And probably more undead"
Navaeh |
Not too close, the canoe ride was enough together time for me.
Ham, might as well fly down to the basement while you're floating around like an ugly fairy.
Nevaeh will get out his rope and secure it to some of the larger, more secure, rubble and attempt to climb down to the next level.
Take 10 Climb for a 14
Jarlgur Flamnord |
Jarlgur shakes his head and looks sheepishly at the party. "I...I'm sorry, I don't what came over me."
I believe this is still 3.5 stats, maybe that is how they were statted back then.
Jarlgur walks toward the edge and peers down.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Grimnir Foehammer |
With several minutes left of his fly potion Grimnir will fly down and inspect below, casting detect magic as he goes..
Perc: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28
Sterling the Zen Archer |
Sterling walks up to Navaeh, looks at his bow and holds out his hand, "I hop' it ser'ed you wel'. Now if i 'ay 'ave it bac'"
After Navaeh hands it back, Sterling inspects his bow before walking away shaking his head "Not e'en the decenc' to ask 'efore using..."
Navaeh |
Nevaeh tosses the bow back to Sterling. Thanks Soaps, your little bow came in handy. Now were did Birdy run off too?
Sterling the Zen Archer |
"So'ps? W'o's So'ps?." Sterling looks quizzically at Naveah once again. I know he's said that before, but who is this 'soaps' he keeps talking about...???
Halbarad of Arbor |
"Off collecting my wayward beast," Hal mutters as he picks up his bow. He will also take a look down the hole before tying up his mount and lowering down.
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Sterling the Zen Archer |
"Wel', s'all we continu' on-war's?" Sterling asks before jumping into the pit.
Acrobatics to ignore first 10 feet (hopefully it's a short drop): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Grim Dougal |
"Perhaps our holy warrior can lead the way, no doubt undead breed more undead, and he seems quite comfortable with the filthy and unnatural things"
Navaeh |
'Holy warrior'!?! Please don't insult me, I'm not some brainless zealot. But yeah I'll take point since Ham and me are the only ones who won't piss ourselves if there is another spook. grumbles Nevaeh. No offence of course.. he adds insincerely.
GM Bold Strider |
Halbarad fishes out some rope and begins to tie up his pet to help lower him the 20' to the dirt ground. Navaeh does the same, but anchors his rope to one of the stone coffins. Grimnir flies down and looks around, just seeing more stone work and dirt floor.
Sterling jumps down and twists his ankle on the floor, falling onto his face.
Falling Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Jarlgur moves to the edge and looks at the ground. He notices that the dirt seems to be freshly moved but doesn't see anything.
Grimnir flies around in time to see three large beetles burst out from corpses under the balcony and lash out at Sterling. First person to touch the ground gets swarmed... :( Sadly it's the squishy archer. Granted you did just decide to jump in...
