The elf ignores all threats and questions, letting the Pathfinders push him around without providing any resistance. He leaves his eyes closed and a serene face is all that he shows. If allowed, he always returns to a seated position as if he is meditating. He makes no movement to speak or any gestures aside from returning to seated position if kicked/pushed.

Sterling/Grimnir:
There are no enchantments. He merely looks content at his current situation and seems to be unwilling to do anything beyond what he is doing now.

You see the elf's ears perk up and his head tilt to the side for a few seconds. His face smiling for a second before resuming his original posture.

Perception DC 30:
You hear the light slap of water in the distance, as if someone is paddling toward you.

A few minutes later, a canoe drifts gently downstream. The boat carries an older man wearing a dark-colored mask and a necklace crafted out of animal bones. The man salutes and raises a small horn. “Halt, travelers!” he cries out. “Turn back from this cursed place, lest the Song of Extinction reach your ears.”

As the new man arrives, Grim simply waves back. "Thanks for the warning, friend, but I'd be more interested in your name and whether you know this fellow" Grim motions towards the captive - his hand moving slowly towards his pommel in case this gets untidy. Misfortune sits up alert, tail flicking in warning.

Sense Motive 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Here in in the Mwangi. Man's name is power. Why I give you power? The boatman shrugs.

Grim doesn't trust this guy.

We seek a witch doctor named Nangi, do you know him? Nevaeh, grabs the elf by the back of his/her collar and drags him/her over towards the river. Perc: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

Grimnir remains quite and focuses on seeing the truth in the matter.. He activates detect evil and scans the newcomer.

Sense Motive on what he's said so far: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

he also readies a use of Discern Lies as an immediate action to the man's response. The DC is 17.

Grimnir believes the man to be telling the truth as his partners attempt to intimidate the man in the canoe. The core of the man's being is not evil, but he seems draped in an evil aura, as if the man once was the recipient of a spell or boon of great evil.

The man in the animal bone mask and necklace seems non-plussed by your show of aggression. Haha, you fellas must be new round these parts. First, he ain't got no pets. He be the pet. Howlers keep him in line, not other way 'round. Two, you speak of laws of land? Tyruwat own these lands. This 'un is one of his slave patrols to guard his land. If anyt'ing, you is the one violating the laws of the land, as you put it. His failure to capture youse 'uns will result in his death, but he probably would relish that. T'ree, I warned you off. What you do next is yours. The man slowly paddles down the river with little disregard for the Pathfinders or their actions.

Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Grimnir's Discern Lies can't seem to penetrate the man's psyche and now Grimnir knows that the man knows he was targeted by some attempt to do so.

Can I get a retroactive Sense motive on him when I mentioned his name? Or when Grim mentioned Tuukna or the coin?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Navaeh senses that the man cares little for the Pathfinders or the man they have captured and that his opinion of the group significantly lowered once they pointed an arrow at his head. Also, he senses that the man was telling the truth about their trespassing on the land of Tyruwat.

---

The man paddles his canoe around and faces the party from about 50' down river. Tuukna sent you? One would think that he would send people who are courteous. What proof do you have of this claim?

We are warriors sent to mission to stop some foul magic and we were just ambushed by demon dogs and this piece of filth, so yeah we we are a little on edge. Tuukna gave us some stupid copper coin to present to the shaman Nangi so that he can lead up to the ruined city of Dokeran.
And apparently we are in desperate need of a guide since we now trespassing in a hostile nation of some Kuthite zealot that Tuukna didn't even feel was important enough to mention to us!

Nevaeh throws his hands up in the air and plops down on the ground next to the prisoner. So how is the food around here? What kind of bread can you even make in a jungle? talking just as much to himself as to the elf.

If you release him::
The man will bow to the group and pick up his bow before disappearing into the wilderness.

Once everyone is aboard the canoe, then Nangi will slowly row the boat down the river. He will not speak unless directly spoken to by someone. After an hour or so, the remains of a pyramid slowly come into view over the foliage of the jungle. He points at the pyramind. Our destination.

Nangi doesn't respond to Halbarad's unending questioning, but picks out Grimnir's questions and answers them after some thought. I don't know much about his current strength. I haven't seen Tyruwat in decades, but you should be wary of his spells, not his blade.

You need to phrase specific questions. He is specifically written out as only answering a few questions. Saying that you are incessantly talking would only lead him to ignore you.

Hmmm can TREAT stat loss with the Heal skill, but not stop the effect?

@Grim: Correct.

Nangi looks over the elf before answering. The Song of Extinction... It is the reminder of my past and future. A small music box that can change the course of nations. The life it takes is redirected to the wielder, greatly extending that person's lifespan. It is what binds me and Tyruwat. My foolish mistake all those years ago. Now I have many more decades to contemplate my error in judgment... The man trails off as he continues paddling to the pyramid.

Let me know if you don't have any more "pressing" questions. He might be willing to answer one or two more questions.

Okay, last question, I promise. "A generous man might tell of his errors, so that others might not suffer the same fate."

The witch doctor grows quiet and stops paddling. His voice comes out clear but soft. I was the man who led Tyruwat to Dokeran and to the Song of Extinction. In his generosity, he allowed me to share in the life force granted by the music box. The song shook the very foundations of the city around us before crumbling to ruins. Thousands died, increasing our own lives tenfold. Upon seeing the destruction caused, I left Tyruwat's domain and have spent the last few decades in quiet contemplation of my actions. He begins paddling once more, unresponsive to anymore questions.

Eerie singing echoes from a strange pyramid rising up out of the swamp. A crumbling stone spire at the peak of the pyramid reaches for the heavens. The pyramid is all that is left of the grand temple of Dokeran.

Nangi docks the canoe on the shore and speaks in a foreign language that none of you have heard. A low roar echoes back as a giant crocodile plods out of the water and stays near the canoe. Nangi leads the Pathfinders to the entrance of Dokeran. My task is complete. Much like last time, I provide the access to the ones who will bring downfall to the ruler of this city. Hopefully, I can be proud of my contribution this time... Nangi shuffles off back into the brush towards his canoe.

When the Pathfinders enter the pyramid, they see that the inside of the pyramid has been torn apart by a powerful force. Piles of bricks and stones are all that remain of altars and benches. Cracks in the walls let in natural light. A gaping hole has torn apart the floor, providing an entrance to the unlit temple basement below.

Cheery, place isn't it. Nevaeh moves to the front of the party. Anyone have a light spell so we can see where we are going? If not He will crack a sunrod and hold it in his off hand, while his other hand grasps the hilt of his unsheathed sword, which he has propped up on his shoulder.

Four ghosts rise up out of the broken coffins around the room and begin swirl around the room when the Pathfinders enter. The Song intensifies in the room, growing significantly louder and the ghosts words to the song echo across the walls.

"Forsake beauty, embrace envy.”

Everyone needs to make four Will Saves.

You guys have a way of dealing with these things? he asks the ones left. I kind of get the feeling we should retreat. I'll cover you. Save my rolls for a readied action if one comes in range.
