Karu sets sail with the recruits entrusted with the protection of a treasure trove of relics from Qadira. Don't get seasick, skallywags! Karu looks to the sailor next to him. Was that right?

A brisk breeze carries the scent of the sea and the Pathfinder vessel up to the docks in Katheer. Karu lets all of the Pathfinders disembark before pulling up anchor. The Pathfinders stumble around Katheer until they find the Pathfinder Society’s lodge in Katheer, the capital of Qadira. The lodge’s shaded balcony gives a panoramic view of Katheer’s harbor, revealing hundreds of ships moored in the busy port, lateen-rigged merchant dhows and the bright-sailed warships that protect Qadira’s shipping.

“Thank you for getting here so soon,” the nasal voice of Venture-Captain Osretia Cassomiran calls from within. She is a tall, gray-haired woman of Azlanti lineage, and she rifles through papers as she speaks from inside her office. “Have you met the groom, Farendir Faireven? He’s quite bright, especially for someone from the River Kingdoms.”

Venture-Captain Cassomiran’s quest continues fruitlessly as she searches a sagging bookshelf. “The bride’s quite a catch, too; called the Lady of Silver for her father’s wealth. It’s certainly a coup for young Faireven.”

Clambering beneath her desk, Osretia’s voice is muffled by stacked texts. “Anyway, during the wedding feast, the girl’s father, Master Bashir Al-Mudaris, plans to donate several valuable relics to the Pathfinder Society. Clearly, Master Bashir wants to promote his new son-in-law’s status in the Society. That’s where you come in: we need you to escort these antiques to Absalom.”

Suddenly, the Venture-Captain’s shouts, "By Irori! I found them!” She places several elegantly scripted invitations on the disheveled desk. “You do have something decent to wear
for the wedding, do you not? You’re going to represent the Society, and we certainly can’t afford any embarrassments.”

"Sounds easy enough," a tall man with elven features says from the balcony. He's grinning from ear to ear from behind his Mask --not that anyone can see this, of course. Obyrn is excited by the prospect of "escorting" priceless relics, but moreover he is positively ecstatic to be in Katheer! Katheer! The city where the clink of coin can be heard in every street, at all hours of the day! What great goddess of luck has brought him to this beacon of trade? What new techniques might he learn here, to put to use for his masters?

Dragging himself away from the view, he steps into the VC's office to inspect the invitations. As he does so, he asks absentmindedly, "What sort of antiquities are these, exactly?"

Ping.

Baldwyn listens with no real interest, but tries to pay attention. "What? Freshly polished mithral dun't impress these folk? Fine, I'll throw a cape on or somethin'."

The Taldane man is just starting to show some grey in his black hair, but his eyes are still cunning and youthful. He rests nonchalantly on his polearm, a bardiche with plenty of wear and tear on the blade, though it gleams almost as much as the mithral plate armour adorning the fighter's body. Clearly he spends a lot of time with their upkeep. Possibly a little too much time...

Tall and lanky, Maaarv pays little attention to what his said. He's got his face stuck in a book, mumbling to himself. "Hmm... says here Katheer was founded by Keleshite explorers - not the native Quadirans...interesting."

When he notices a silence, he looks up. "Wedding? Well, I mean... I just went to a Blakros wedding a little bit ago and they seemed fine with my polished mithral shrit. But if I need to get something more fitting with Quadiran traditions, than sure, I'll get something."

Of course, it was easier before I grew these blasted wings... he thinks to himself.

You see a rotund dwarf with a broad smile and even more broad belt stumbling down the docks, while chewing on what appears to be a leftover trail ration. He looks around and spots the other Pathfinders.

"Hey there! Hello again, my good friends. It is jolly good to see you all."

He bows to each, not as deeply as he would like, but as much as his physique will allow.

"Brother Grimdock at your service. A pleasure to meet you all. What did I miss?" he says with a wink and a grin.

Well met, everyone. I do hope this journey goes smoothly. With such able agents as yourselves I don't think I have much to worry about.

I'll look over Narvik here when I get home and make sure I have everything in order.

We will start tomorrow!

Hundreds of guests crowded the temple of Sarenrae this morning while prosperous merchants and courtiers strutted in silken finery and scholars and clergy nodded gravely, clad in sober robes. Scores of servants and grooms waited outside as the High Priest of Sarenrae intoned the couple’s vows.

Afterward, the newlyweds led their guests to the splendidly decorated courtyard of Master Bashir’s estate for the wedding feast. Young men whirled through an ancient sword-dance to the frenzied pounding of doumbeks, their blades clashing louder as the song’s tempo increased. Servant girls brought forth a dazzling array of dishes and iced sekanjabin drinks, as daring snake charmers mesmerized a dozen lethal asps.

After the feast, challenges rang out across the courtyard. Warriors swaggered forth, clad only in loincloths and swinging cudgels, to battle atop a bed of red-hot coals.

PCs wishing to fight among the warriors can do so, but must strip to a loin cloth, wield a club, and dance on a bed of hot coals. To simplify this encounter, any PCs fighting on the hot coals with the warriors, must succeed on a DC 12 Fortitude check each turn or become sickened by the heat and smoke. Two failed saves in a row and the PCs must leave the coals and forfeit their right to battle. Anyone struck once while dancing on the coals is eliminated and the glorious victor is the last warrior standing.

As the warriors battle on their bed of hot coals, extravagant gifts and displays amaze the crowd. A pair of white elephants from distant Vudra, two dozen silken-haired dromedaries, robes of precious silk, and other treasures appear, each more exotic than the last. Cloth-draped wagons promise additional wonders.

"The dwarf remembered some other business," Obyrn says tersely. He makes no move to get up either, and keeps his watchful eye focused away from the center of attention...

Guess we're all passing then, haha.

Several shrouded wagons sit near the courtyards’ entrances, carrying creatures intended as gifts for various notables. Most of these exotic beasts are harmless: Keleshite peacocks, massive speckled turtles from the Mwangi Expanse, and the like. One wagon’s inhabitants are anything but harmless: a trio of Thuvian lions, intended for the Satrap’s menagerie.

If successful above, Knowledge(Local) DC 20:
This man is a dervish of the Unforgiving Fire, a servant of the sorcerer Raamiz Ibn-Chadli, a man driven to revenge-filled madness at the news that his desired bride would be married off to a non-Qadiran Pathfinder infidel.

Yeah... that's definitely an intimidate, not a bluff.

The man looks at "Ka'atib the Knife" with a weird look before putting two fingers to his mouth and whistling.

Two other men and the dervish in front of "Ka'atib" pull on a cord attached to each of the wagons. The party hears several loud clangs and a few roars before three lions leap out of the wagons. The elephant that was to be a gift to the couple raises up on two legs and trumpets loudly, clearly agitated by the sudden presence of predators.

The crowd goes crazy and fleeing merchants, nobles, and servants jam the exits; trapped victims shriek for help. A child is knocked to the ground in front of a snake charmer’s angry asp, escaped from its basket.

If the lion lives, he stays put. If the lion falls, the rogue will deftly tumble around towards the eastern lion (acrobatics to avoid the elephant's reach: Acrobatics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36).

Maaarv sees that the the boy is no longer threatened by the snake, so he takes a few steps forward toy try and help Narvik with the lion. He draws out another frost bomb and throws it.

Precise Shot, Precise Bomb, DC 17 Fort Save or the lion is staggered for one round.

@Obyrn: Baldwyn can't threaten while grappled, thus no flanking and no sneak attack dice. Luckily, 9 damage is enough to knock the beast unconscious.

Obyrn stabs the lion with his longspear and the blood loss is enough to make it fall unconscious. Narvik is still swinging his morningstar ineffectually at the other lion, but Maaarv is able to land a frost bomb on the beast.

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

The freezing temperatures of the bomb don't seem to affect the lion at all.

The elephant, free of the lion's grasp, tramples everything and everyone as it wildly charges across the room. Several of the people trapped in the room are gored by the elephant's tusks or smashed by the elephant's legs.

@Bold, forgot about that -- sorry!

Obyrn will attempt to duck out of the way of the elephant rather than poke at it. Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 If that is somehow sufficient, he has Evasion.

"Egads, that smarts!" Maaarv shouts at the goring he receives from the elephant. Suddenly, two large, bat-like wings spread out from Maaarv's shoulder blades. With a few flaps, he flies backwards from the elephant, into the air.

Flying 15 feet up at a 45 degree angle. I'm a little new to using the flying skill, but I believe I can do this without a check. If I do need to make one, please let me know. Also, I probably provoke an AoO.

Once up in the air, Maaarv mixes up an especially explosive bomb and tosses it down on to the elephant.
