I must have posted my posting template by accident yesterday.

My two cents on the issue is, unless the encounter was a designer snafu, is that the PCs didn't get to roll their own save on such a critical outcome. Just gives me more sense of personal fate if I tanked the roll. If the point can be argued...

My line of thinking on that was that it was a surprise round action, thus it would help for laying out initiative if I knew who could act and who couldn't. I honestly wasn't expecting you all to fail. I rolled for you in order to progress the thread faster by not waiting for six Will saves to post what any other actions. As a GM, I see the merit in this. As a player, I can see your point as well.


Yes, totally understand the surprise round for expedite, this would be arguable for the 0.1% exception.

I am going on vacation tomorrow, and won't have internet access for several days. I should be back on line on the 1st of September.

In the meantime, please bot my character, and make any rolls that are necessary. If we manage to avoid winding up as chicken feed, feel free to use my Cure Light Wounds wand to heal up anyone who needs it. If we survive to end up in another fight, Bevek would tend to stay at range using his shortbow, but would look for an opportunity to flank and sneak attack.

Good luck, and hopefully I come back to a live character! (Although if he needs to die, so be it.)

OK normally hero is hero, but the funkiness of this encounter tells me to leave it, one more straight failed Will saves and it's curtains.


I would like to agree, but it seems pretty bad to abandon the captive. Also, I think the one that survived is the one that was singing, so Kalendir and Finger (who both made their saves eventually) are immune for a while. And Mads is spreading around fortune to help if it tries that tactic again (we should also put in some kind of ear plugs if we can scrounge them up). If we have a couple ranged people covering the climbers we can probably take it.
