I took some time tonight to assemble some notes of things from just before Dwizzle joined the group (assuming he'd be briefed by the events that happened just before he and Hogan joined).
The masked cultist has these locations in his journal:
A) the Marid’s Caress (crossed out by cultist, we went here too)
B) the Observatory of Truth and Wisdom
C) the Pyramid of Arithmetic Bliss (we are here!)
D) the Sanctum of the Erudite Eye (crossed out by cultist)
E) the Shiny Bauble (visited by Da' Dwarves!)
F) and the tomb of Menket Maatya
We have a list of compass locations mentioned here which I don't see in any details except I think Teos referencing them or puzzling them out here but I presume that's essentially our checklist of sites for compasses.
Teos list was:
1) Ghoul Market (we visited.. then to Oil Co, compass broken down+sold)
2) Observatory of Truth and Wisdom
3) Pyramid of Arithmetic Bliss (we are here)
4) Temple of the Risen Osiris
5) Archives of the Ibis
6) Dust Parlor
Although I read only 5 compasses were thought to possibly still be around and this is 6 locations.
Random question: Since we've already realized a few are broken... how many do we need to pinpoint the source of the uprising? One? Two? We have one already, perhaps we should report in about this?
We have visited these locations too, which may overlap?
a) Cenotaph of the Cynic (with the lion guy)
b) Asetiti Estate (with the darkfolk - Harmony and Cadaver)
I'm not sure if we've covered if there should be a compass at the Pyramid of Arithmetic Bliss and what happened to it (the dead cultist clearly didn't steal it!).
Resolving that matter, the Observatory shows up in both lists, so I wager that would be next.

We need three compasses. It's a triangulation. Or two, and then we draw a line in the map.

Heads up that I'll be traveling a lot in the coming week for the holidays, so posting may be sporadic. Definitely GMPC Dwiz if he's holding anything up, but I'll try to check in a few times if our hotels have easy wifi.

Seeing as Christmas is coming up, I am going to put a hiatus on this game until the New Year.
I hope you all have a great Christmas (or other holiday celebration) and I hope that your New Year's celebrations are raucous and boisterous!
Upon resuming, I am hoping to pick up the pace of the game to make up for the slow downs during the holiday season! So be ready for some action! :D

Hogan and I subbed in late, so I'm still playing some catch-up here.
We are underneath the Observatory of Truth and Wisdom right? Based on this post here...
We found the door in the mosaic, broke it and dropped down sixty feet...
Then in this post we arrived in a room with statuary and reflecting pool, which is the southernmost room on our combat map at the moment.
Doesn't this mean that we can return to that room, climb up the 60ft rope and we're back in the Observatory?
The observatory is somewhere in the Necropolis quarter right? .. which based on the Wati map is something like 1000-2000ft away from Bargetown/Midwife/The Veins?
So after the climb, we're like 10-15 minutes from a temple?
We don't know what's downstairs, but I imagine it's either:
a) nothing, so we can rest without fear of anything coming up
b) something evil and bad, and going down with a cursed Hogan and blind Seherab could be a bad idea, and we'd want to prepare for it.
Our dwarves do know that we are lacking preparedness for the things we are currently facing, whether it be resolving curses or removing blindness. We also have been lacking silver weapons. In my mind, a good dwarf prepares for a delve, and we have the firsthand experience now to go provision accordingly.
Do we also need a scroll of shrink item to get that fancy mahogany table to a market? :)

Hey!
I was wondering how you guys were doing for loot and I took a look at the loot sheet in the header.
The "Striders Sheet" shows Ankhef has a scroll of remove blindness (row 18) and scroll of remove curse (row 19)!
There's also this khopesh that seems to be in the "party pool" that Hogan might find useful - Natron's Fang ?

I took an hour to put together a loot log since Dwizzle and Hogan joined the party.
Ideally I'd find more time to dig through Teos's old sheet and understand where things were at, but I figure I could go through the thread and piece things together.
Find the sheet here.
It's just a running sheet that I append to at the end with dates, locations and monster/boss fights.
So the lower in the sheet, the more recent the item was found/sold/traded/etc.
Most valuables are sold and go into a party pool, then we agree to distribute the pool to individuals to spend at key times.
@GMBold: I've made some assumptions:
* When we bought the 900gp of emeralds for Shardizhad, we likely sold all the jewelry/baubles/etc we came into possession of since Hogan/Dwizzle joined.
* We also sold a couple mundane items we had in the pool (screaming bolts, kukri, buckler) at half value.
* We haven't had a "market trip" yet to sell anything found since.
* This puts the party pool since Hogan/Dwizzle joined at 4440gp.
@Party: We've found a lot of stuff that nobody has grabbed. I made some assignment assumptions on what I thought may be obvious loot assignments:
6/8
Ankhef grabbed the scroll of speak with dead
Dwizzle grabbed the healer's kit
7/1
Seherab grabbed the lenses of detection (he's our trap guy)
8/29
Seherab grabbed the ring of feather falling (he's most likely to fall into a pit as our trap guy and has fairly low HP)
@Seherab: I noticed you had both mistmail and a +1 mithral chain shirt. Do you have any objection to loaning whichever you aren't using to Dwizzle for a nominal AC bonus over his lamellar leather?
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
@Dwizzle: Sure, you can take the mistmail if you want. I don't need both, I just couldn't part with the mistmail, haha.
GM Bold Strider |
It would take a bit longer than 15 minutes as you are moving through undead-infested areas. I decided to forgo the wandering attacks while you are directly on mission, but if you decide to repeatedly rest and head back to the temple, then we would start rolling for wandering combats. However, you seem to understand the map fairly well.
---
As for the loot, I am not tracking that, so if you want to start (which it seems you have), then I am not opposed. I updated the Loot! link at the top with Dwizzle link.
Dwizzle |
@Ankhef: Looks like Ankhef came into these scrolls here:
scroll of remove curse
scrolls of remove paralysis 2
scrolls of remove fear 2
scrolls of sanctify corpse, 2
scroll of remove blindness
Teos sums up all the scrolls you should now have here since this adds to some you already had.
I imagine that lets us quickly deal with our blindness issue and press on without a detour up to Wati.
We should probably divide up a few of those, since if you are feared or paralyzed, Dwizzle could use one of those on Ankhef.
You also have more scrolls assigned to you here missing from your character sheet. :)
I'm continuing to sift through the loot as there's lots of things Teos shows in the party pool that could be pretty useful.
@Seherab: Any chance Dwizzle could wear the mithral chain shirt first? The mistmail would sadly move him to medium encumbrance (12.5 lbs vs 6.25 lbs). Not sure if Seherab has 6.25 lbs of carry capacity to spare?
Dwizzle |
Another observation. If Seherab takes the lenses of detection (+5 competence to Perception and Survival), it appears it frees up his eyes of the eagle (+5 to just Perception).
Both Hogan and Ankhef are a bit lacking in the Perception department, so one of you guys should grab those.
It's nice when a front-liner gets to go in the surprise round (to block incoming enemies), so perhaps Hogan dons those?
Ankhef Glyphkeeper |
Good catch, I literally copied that entire first list over, except the remove blindness, for no discernible reason.
I think Hogan should take the lenses.
Also big thank you for sorting through all the items/bosts.
Dwizzle |
@Ankhef: Triple check your scrolls here too as this is one list I see. Teos also has you provisioned with a scroll of daylight, which is our only way to counter darkness at the moment.
@Ankhef: If you are okay with it, remove 1 scroll each of remove fear, remove sickness and remove paralysis from your sheet once you catch them up. I'll add them to mine and thus we can spread out who can resolve those conditions in the heat of battle.
Before:
Scroll of Comprehend Languages
Scroll of Lesser Restoration 2
Scroll of Magic Weapon
Scroll of Remove Blindness
Scroll of Remove Curse
Scroll of Remove Fear 3
Scroll of Remove Paralysis 2
Scroll of Remove Sickness 2
Scroll of Sanctify Corpse 2
(and others assigned later)
Moved to Dwizzle: 1 of Remove Fear, Remove Paralysis, Remove Sickness
@Hogan: There's a potion of spider climb in the party pool. I also think you should take that. If there's a need to quickly climb and engage an enemy, you're our best bet to quaff it and bring the hurt to where it needs to go.
It will take me probably a few more days with an hour here and there to copy all of Teos's work over and audit it.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Sure, I'll trade out my lenses. Thanks for all the work! I'm pretty bad at tracking party loot. I track my own stuff just fine but I always forget to check and update the party sheet.

GM Bold Strider |
Recently, I have been growing reticent to log on and post. Specifically, this game amongst a few others are really dragging, which is causing me to not want to attend to 'any' of my games.
For example, I updated the game on Wednesday and it is now Monday with only two posts and nothing for me to do unless I arbitrarily trip the stone golem. We have had this problem pretty frequently recently and I'm really just not interested in keeping this game going, especially since I'd rather focus on my other games more.
Since it seems like no one is that interested in this game and we are close to the end of the book, I am going to relinquish my status as GM after we finish this book.

I understand your decision. I have really enjoyed this AP and I'll be sad to see it go but I could use a decrease in my games as well. I was away at a con this weekend but I feel like I've been struggling to push this game along for a while with not much interaction so it's probably time to just put it to rest.
Thanks for all the hard work, GM and thanks for taking over when our first GM disappeared. We appreciate the effort and it was fun while it lasted!
Ankhef Glyphkeeper |
My apologies for contributing to the slowness and not helping push action forward.
Decidion is totally understood and I look forward to gaming with you in thefuture and finishing this book out.
Hogan Stonebrother |
Well that's sad to hear, I admit to slacking as I don't feel like I have much to contribute most of the time. Thank you for doing as much as you've done.
Dwizzle |
This is totally due to Dwizzle putting together the loot sheet!
Curse of the loot sheet work!
Apologize no posts from Dwizzle since Thursday but the holiday hit here too.
Sad to see this game go, as I was certainly enjoying the AP and filling Dwizzle's shoes.
