What's this? An all-dwarf party? (practically)
Didn't realize this wasn't a fresh run, but that's all good, as I mentioned to Bold, one of the local groups I game with has already started playing this, so it wasn't anywhere in the short-term for me.
I'll let the dust settle and start reading the player's guide and what you all have posted.
Also taking requests/suggestions for party roles needed (both crunch and fluff).
Teos Oldwise |
He also goes by Daxter. He has more posts than the two of us put together. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing! But yes, I know him. He builds better melee guys than me, and posts consistently.
DM Panic |
Here's what I was able to dig up.
Party:
Tangaroa: Teros Oldwide, dwarf monk of the four winds
Daxter: Hogan Stonebrother, dwarf paladin(Stonelord) of Torag
EF: Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper, dwarf (Pahmet) investigator
Pirate Rob: Ankhef Glyphkeeper, dwarf (Pahmet) oracle (undead conjurer)
Retiring:
Bold: Brynark the Cold, dwarf sorcerer/witch
I'll jump into the 'arcane' role. I'm torn between keeping the dwarf-theme going versus perhaps injecting a halfling or gnome into the mix to try and create some Tolkenesque magic in the Osirian-themed AP... it might be nice to have a non-dwarf "outsider" for the group.
(also have been playing a dwarf wizard recently)
Teos Oldwise |
The dwarf thing isn't hard and fast. Make another stuntie :) We don't need a nerd anyways, since Seherab has that role covered.
The players guide suggests halflings, although People of the Sands contraindicates how common they are, and make gnomes sound slightly more common. Whatever :)
Gnomes:
Gnomes can be found in metropolitan areas of Osirion as well as Katapesh, where their alchemists and sorcerers experiment with mind-altering drugs and peddle them to buyers from across the Inner Sea.
Race Trait: Vermin Wrangler (gnome) In gathering ingredients necessary for mind-altering drugs and other concoctions, you have become intimately familiar with the desert’s many-legged pests. You gain a +2 trait bonus on Knowledge (dungeoneering) checks to identify vermin and on saving throws against vermin’s extraordinary abilities.Halflings:
Though common in the days of Ancient Osirion, halflings have since dispersed throughout the Inner Sea region, and are rare in northern Garund unless brought in by Keleshite slavers or when on covert abolitionist missions to rescue enslaved kin or disrupt slave trafficking.
Race Trait: Slave Smuggler (halfling) You know how to get contraband across borders. When hiding a Medium or smaller creature from an opponent actively searching you or your cargo, both you and the creature to be smuggled can attempt Stealth checks and select the higher of the
two results for your smuggled ally to use while hiding.
Osirion’s cities contain a good-sized population of halflings, who have long served the ancient pharaohs. Some continue to do so to this day.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Yeah, with two people able to cure and Seherab at least able to use a clw wand, we are fine on that point and we seem to have plenty of melee now. We are lacking arcane but I've always been a big proponent of the motto that 'party composition' or having a 'balanced party' is only partly necessary. If you don't feel like playing arcane (and a scholarly wizard would certainly overlap with Seherab not only in skills but probably in personality as well), then I'd say just pick whatever you want. You could always do semi-arcane support like bard, skald, or magus if you wanted something different.
Teos Oldwise |
Ohhh, I would second a bard or skald. Cause I'm selfish.
Edit: dirge bard fell gnome anyone?
Teos Oldwise |
Hey Hogan, we have a pretty nifty khopesh in the party, if you're interested. You might even be able to sweet talk the gm into making it into a non-exotic weapon, if you're a local :)
As per the guide:
Spears are popular weapons in Osirion, and those who use large bladed weapons tend to favor falchions, khopeshes, and scimitars. Many combatants use flails, as that weapon was a symbol of rule among the pharaohs. Wicked curved daggers are worn on the belt of many Osirians, even many of those not prone to fighting and defense.
Hogan Stonebrother |
I have diplomacy and sense motive so I can help with some success. I just need to stat out my elemental companion but I'm ready whenever you want to introduce me.
Dwizzle |
"You see, it all makes perfect sense!!"
Dwizzle rapped on the table as he leaned precariously forward, his eyes set upon Hogan in yet another attempt to convince the dwarf that he an all his kin were actually the progeny of the Osirian god Ra.
"Ra took so many forms!"
Dwizzle almost knocked over the table in his exuberance as he began counting off on his fingers.
"Amun-Ra, Atun-Ra... many scholars think Raet-Tawy is Ra's wife or daughter, but no, it's the big guy himself just making us all think that!"
The effervescent gnome flipped through a large tome until it came to rest upon an open page showing several stout builders constructing a large pyramid.
"This here, this is where I believe Ra-Tor came about, which makes sense really once you connect that in Ancient Osirian, which often involved inverting syllables and you suddenly have Tor-Ra, which... doesn't that remind you of a certain so-and-so? Hmm? Tor-Ra?"
Dwizzle mouths a 'G' sound, winks at Hogan, comes dangerously close to elbowing the paladin, then gestures to the banner affixed to his gnome-sized longspear leaning against the table.
"I mean, I've been studying dwarves all my life and it took a few decades for it all to come together, but I truly suspect there's evidence buried around here somewhere that will literally shake up the way you and I both pray to our respective gods, or should I say god, since you see, he's one and the same!... or she I guess, if it's Raet-Tawy-Tor or whatever he might've wanted to be called if he was taking the form of a dwarven woman!"
Dwizzle slapped the table again, spit spraying in his excitement at sharing his wild theories. Exhausted, he slumped back, nervously tugging at his pahmet-style mustache and beard as he tried to gauge Hogan's reaction.
Dwizzle, gnome pro-dwarf fan-boy and evangelist at your service. I haven't purchased starting gear yet, but he's ready to roleplay for a day or so while I sort that out and make final tweaks.
Hogan Stonebrother |
"No it doesn't brother. I'm sure Ra is a fine god, but he ain't Torag." Hogan says wiping the gnome's spittle off his own impressive beard. "Only Torag is Torag, he ain't a sun god and I'm pretty sure he ain't a woman either. You should keep studying." The dwarf-adin sighs a bit as he takes another drink. The gnome was enthusiastic and clever, but he didn't know dwarves all that well.

I'll get a post up today. Had some tech problems the last few days that precluded online posting.

Just to clarify, we are here to find one of those magical compasses/triangulation tools right?
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
This is just a reminder that I will be taking the preliminary exam for my PhD program from Monday-Friday this week and will not be back until next Saturday or Sunday. Please bot me if needed to keep the action moving. Thanks!
Teos Oldwise |
Hi, I guess I'm not keeping track of the loot anymore. Is the GM doing that, or is someone else taking that task on?
Teos Oldwise |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Tektite didn't make that list, I did (it's my google doc) I have a lot of functionality built in so it isn't necessarily approachable to others. But yes, I can resume tracking it.
Teos Oldwise |
I like to mix it up with pure evil sometimes, just to keep things interesting. Wouldn't want to be dull.
Teos Oldwise |
Yep.

Ankhef Glyphkeeper |
I've totally lost track of monnies in this game.
I see two seperate links, both with some info.
Does anybody have more info handy so I don't have to go digging through a zillion posts to sort it out?

Late night with lots of driving. Get a post up tomorrow.

Pirate Rob |
I am back. Mother was taken to the hospital and I spent all day Friday with her, things turned up with the best possible results and she's back home today. She'll still need a bit of extra help so my posting may be a bit slower for the next week or so but you likely won't even notice the difference.
Karu the Kobold Strider |
I'm unavailable due to my brother's wedding this weekend. I should be able to post again on Sunday.

Teos Oldwise |
I admit I'm a bit confused by exactly what's going on. It seems punching/hitting things may not be the best solution, and that perhaps this was an unnecessary fight to begin with.
Thoughts?
Teos Oldwise |
I will be traveling for work 9/15 - 10/2, and then attending a wedding 10/5 - 10/10. I will likely be available to post intermittently.
Karu the Kobold Strider |
My computer's SSD burnt out, so I no longer have a desktop until it gets fixed. I can't move forward with the module without the PDF, but we can keep going with the fight. I'll keep you lot in the loop.

The replacement arrives in 7 days, hopefully. I will get out a substantive update then.
