I don't have a way to screen shot a map right now, so hopefully my description is enough to make sense where you are
Hermann slings Jokbur over his shoulder as you begin to walk back to your "Safe Room". Quirmydt looks around the corner and notices the passage heads north straight to that room. As you head north you approach the intersection with the pit you discovered. It takes some work getting Jokbur to the other side without falling into the pit, but you eventually get him there. You continue north until you get to the next intersection To the east of the first room, and then continue north until you reach the pit where you stored the bandit. You get Jokbur into the bandit room and get him cozy, then open the pit. You discover that the bandit you put inside is missing.
Quirmydt Dephroug |
Qui just shrugs: Figured he was a little to willing to be locked in there. Let me go down and see how he got out.
Qui then climbs down into the pit and begins to search for secret passages or release levers.

He then more carefully examines the marks.

Edmund examines Jokbur while the others deal with the pit and bandit. He tries to remember anything he might ever have read concerning sleeping traps.
Ariella Hearth |
Accidentally hid the thread and missed 16 posts! Eek! Well, nothing too much happened.
Now that we know people were here it's probably a bad idea to rest where they know we would be. We should rest somewhere with only one entrance and a door we can lock.
Jonas Hearth |
Wherever we end up...
"I'm going to spike the door, like the sleep room. That aught to keep us from being interrupted."
Pulling a hammer with a leather-wrapped head and a copper spike, Jonas waited until everyone was inside and then hammered the wedge into the bottom of the door frame below the doorknob.
The leather-headed mallet turned the sound into a dull thump rather than the usual high-pitched clang of metal on metal.

You secure the door and think it is spiked well. Despite the wrapping of the hammer, you seem to have gathered the attention of some rats that squeeze their way through some cracks in the wall.

"What the-" Jonas says in surprise. "Where'd all these rats come from?"
How the hell did I miss that we were in combat? I'm going to blame it on the holiday.
Bringing his burning polearm into the thick of the rodents, he did his best to get rid of them.
The following assumes they are individuals and not a swarm, and are moving around all over the place like rats tend to. If they are a swarm, ignore the AoOs. If not, use as many as they provoke.

Might want to PM Edmund, he has not posted in over a week on this thread, but has posted on others.
Quirmydt Dephroug |
Sorry, all. By trade, I am an elementary and junior high music teacher. This time of year is Christmas concert and report cards for 300 students. Will post shortly.
You should get in touch with DM Harpwizard in my Elsir Vale campaign. He is a math/music teacher and, in case you cannot figure it from his name, a professional harpist.

Edmund sends an arcane bolt at number 1.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 4 = 17

The bolt looks a lot like his magic missiles, but doesn't pack the same punch, and he has to take care to aim it around his friends.
Jonas Hearth |
"You know, when I decided to come here, this wasn't exactly what I imagined I'd be doing." Jonas said with a self-effacing laugh. "and frankly, this isn't working so well. Let's try something new." Yanking a metal canteen full of the oil he used to fuel his burning polearm free from his belt, he unstoppered it and poured some onto the mass of rats, then touched his burning weapon to the ground.
Oil Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Pouring a pint of oil on the ground, covering a 5x5 area. It will burn for two rounds dealing 1d3 damage to each creature that is in or passes through the area. Creatures exposed to the sources of open flame must make a DC 15 Reflex save to avoid catching fire. Creatures on fire take 1d6 points of damage each round until the fire is put out.
Quirmydt Dephroug |
Jonas - This is not a swarm. It is just 4 large rats. We have already killed 2 of them. You might want to retcon that one.
