"Leaving this guy locked in a dark pit with rotting corpses while we gallivant around seems excessively cruel."

Pausing a moment, he adds, "Of course, he probably helped put those bodies in there in the first place."

"I am not the expert on civilized laws, but locking him in the pit seems cruel. Why not have him show us the secret door room?"

"The punishment for banditry is quite severe in most places. Hanging, usually. Both Ariella and myself are ordained, and as such are agents capable of administering justice anywhere there is not recognizable law enforcement."

"I wonder if those solders will be moving back through this area. It would be nice to have them establish a regular patrol to pick up anyone we are able to capture. I have the feeling our new friend here will be the the first of many."

"Well, he himself requested to be put into the pit. But if you judge it too cruel, then we can tie him up tightly naked and leave him in the secret door room." Ariella says.

Qui's eyes narrow suspiciously. Why would you want him naked? Is this the way of yournorthern people to strip men naked? I would assume just taking his equipment and leaving him bound should suffice.

Hermann grins back at Ariella, "Don't mind if I do!"

Taking off his backpack, he pulls out a rope and goes over to the bandit.

"Alright, the pit it is. Down you go," he says, holding onto the rope and tossing one end into the pit with a gesture at the man to climb down.

"Qui, you can reset the lever and climb over just fine without setting it off, right?"

No guarantees, but I should be able to.

Here is the map now with the additions made by the bandit. To the east you see the room with the pools he described. The secret room he talked about is north from the initial room then to the east.

So are you setting the pit to be closed or to be able to be walked upon.

M HP 41/41 | Per +0 | CMB +7 | CMD 20, AC 20, Touch 13, Flat 17 | Fort +7, Ref +4, Will +2 (+1 vs Fear) Fighter 3

I think it should be able to be walked on.

Looking at the map Edmund had so far, Hermann pointed at the door on the "northwest" of the first one that seemed to be boxed in by other rooms and halls. "That room looks like it should be small, we should probably check it out on the way to looking at the secret door. We should also check the room on the other side of the pit, here. I wouldn't want to leave some kind of monster a hiding place so close to our backs."

"Sounds like as good a plan as any." Ariella says.

The door on the other side of the pit is checked out revealing no traps. Opening it up you see a dusty room filled with light cobwebs. In the northeast corner is a pile of 8 skulls.

"Where there is pile of skulls, there may be something that can kill eight humanoids nearby." The ranger looks around carefully, his perceptive eyes missing nothing.
Or the sport of bowling started with eight skulls instead of ten pins. And Thorn is ranger nickname, much more classy than a handle or ghetto name :-)

Jokbur peers around and doesn't notice anything not already described.

OK, Qui is back right before the intersection and peers around the corner seeing the long hallway to the west which is currently clear. The hallway has a number of closed doors.

Qui when you get to the intersection and peer around, something catches your eye. In the actual intersection is a pit trap, just like the others.

I quietly whisper some arcane words.

Whisper: There is another pit here, this place seems loaded with them. Lets get everyone past to the right and then search the doors.

Can I take 10 to cross over to the passage to the right (west).
Also, do I see anything farther to the south?

As long as you are not in immediate danger or distracted you can take 10. The acrobatics DC will be 5 with a running jump or 10 with a standing jump

As for farther south, I still have this map available. The hallway to the south goes 70 feet before turning to the west.

Take-10 for a 14 and will make a standing jump over the pit.

I then head down the passage slowly and listen at the first door to the north.

Let me know if you want more perception/stealth checks. If you prefer, I can take 10 on both for an 18 perception and a 22 stealth.

Qui easily hops over the pit and slinks up to the door. Listening he hears nothing on the other side or finds anything unusual about the door.

Jonas chuckles. "Always. It's sort of my thing."

Reaching out with Firebrand, his torch-headed pole-mace, he begins to light the webbing.

From reach even! Full defense in case of spiders.

The cobwebs burn off quickly but leaving a weird odor in the air for a moment. No spiders or anything else for the matter come out of the room as or after the webs burn. After they are gone it appears to be a plain empty room.
