You like hitting me. I think you are racist against frogs.
Hey, I actually grew up in Frogtown, U.S.A. and my blog is "Hell comes from Frogtown" (twist off an old Roddy Piper movie). There is no way I am anti-frogite!

Ah my bad. I missed that you included the -4 from prone by adding +4 to their to-hit. My thinking was 22-4 for prone+2 for aid another = 20. Glad I was mistaken ^_^
Me too. I was wondering how the heck their bonuses were so high that they could hit me with a 7.

Yeah, like this adventure only has one nemesis...

I hadn't really thought about it before you made the frog-discrimination accusation, but I thought it particularly exquisite given the circumstances.
True story: I almost named him Hermann Manbarschwein (Man-bear-pig, of South Park infamy).

Great, next thing you know, we will have Al Gore doing a running commentary of our exploits and how they are destroying the environment.
This game is suddenly becoming drastically different than I expected...
In another game I ran I had a bubbly gnomish Diviner named Bandy Spyglass who was basically an over-the-top news reporter.
He was following the party around, occasionally being helpful but usually doing terrible things to make things "more exciting" so he could broadcast them to his viewers over a crystal ball network.
Dungeon Craws make impressive reality TV.

Better be careful, you would be amazed what a little scimitar can do to a human's Achilles.

Random encounters can make things interesting, however fitting them in together to make sense has been awesome so far!
And I do plan on making this a living world time of thing, so plan on seeing them again at some point!

As long as we're all alive I'll be happy. This is what I meant by maybe we should clear some of the wilderness before heading into the dungeon. We're only level one after all. How are we doing XP by the way? Are we supposed to be keeping track?

I have not seen a pbp campaign yet where the players keep track of the exp. Usually the DM just decides at a certain point that everyone should level up. Some DM's list the exp in the Campaign tab, others just make the announcement. Historically I have seen the leveling occurring about every 1000 posts. This is not a fixed number, but is actually fairly consistent in many of my campaigns.
HP 22/29; Bat. Dance 9/13; Glitterdust 1/1; 1st - 3/4
I make my players keep track of XP in some of my games, others that are more narrative I don't keep track at all and just do like you said.
I keep track of your xp so you don't have to. I'm going to do medium progression and you are about 1/4 of the way to second already!
I prefer that method. Feels like GM discretion whether they are keeping track of points or not, and I like it that way.

The thrill of being on the threshold of the dungeon: it never lessens no matter how long I play!
Yep. Totally awesome. It goes away fast once all the bleeding and dying starts though.

Look at the positive side. When I die, you all get to have roasted frog legs for dinner.
In honor of one of the campaigns I played in, one of our battle cries we adopted after fighting giant frog, "Save the Legs!"
I'm betting the ceiling doesn't have pressure plates.
Can Qui stealth-climb his way down to the intersection and take a look?
If it's clear we can take our time searching for traps while we move forward.

If allowed, I will take-10 (=17) and climb down the tunnel watching for enemies.
If you have something like spider climb you can go down the hallway via the ceiling, otherwise not really With handholds the DC to climb that way is 30, and there isn't handholds
If you just scale the walls and go down the hallway like that it is a DC 20 which is higher than your take 10 result

Yeah, many of us have suffered that fate over the years.
I'll be updating the game thread with progress a little later
FYI, Next week Oct 19th and 20th I will be at Rock Con so I won't be posting at all that weekend.

A creature with a climb speed has a +8 racial bonus on all Climb checks.
The creature must make a Climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC higher than 0, but it can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened while climbing.
I have been misunderstanding what having a Climb speed meant. I'd been treating it like Spider Climb.
So what's the DC of the wall?

So he's got at least one more level before he can take 10 and move on the walls.

I actually have always treated it like spider climb too. Still learning new rules after all this time. I looked it up after DM Blood's post about it and was like O_O...

I think I might still treat it as spider climb in my home games. Fewer rolls is better IMO.

It's 20 to move into. It becomes 25 when you move out of it. Diagonals are weird.

Diagonal Movement
Diagonals: When measuring distance, the first diagonal counts as 1 square, the second counts as 2 squares, the third counts as 1, the fourth as 2, and so on.
So your above movement is 5',5',5',10'=25'
I'll go with your call. It's going to take me some time to look this up since it's a niche case. I don't want to hold things up.
I'll take the AoO

Agreed, but if I do it now, they'll stand up and move off the greased area before our meleers can close in, so I'm waiting a round until the rat is done with.
