Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
I think will negates means just that. No x2 damage or dazzled
paralyzed??: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Justin heals himself with a touch and attacks with his claws and bites, resorting to the brutal fighting techniques he learned in the company of lizardfolk. He does not attempt to break the grapple in any way except brutally attacking his foe.
Grappled. -4 DEX and -2 to attack. Full attack with power attack (-3 to hit +6 damage on natural attacks) -2 for grappled and -3 for power attack, +3 for smite
bite: 1d20 + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 = 151d3 + 6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 9 + 6 = 23
claw: 1d20 + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (18) + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 = 321d4 + 6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 9 + 6 = 25
claw: 1d20 + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 16 + 3 - 2 - 3 = 281d4 + 6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 9 + 6 = 24
Justin's bite misses, he didn't want to taste Mohrg anyway, but he rends the abomination with powerful, smiting claw attacks.
LoH: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 4) = 17
HP=97-26+17=88
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin wipes his brow.
"Glad you came back. I think we need to cleanse this place as best we can. Shall we follow north and go through those doors. Kilthan, thanks for returning. That was a nasty fight."
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess shakes herself, as though her arms had fallen asleep.
Strange. Growing up as an elf, my parents always talked of how ghouls and other undead usually did not affect elves with their ability to paralyze people. I guess that is a resistance that did not carry over when I became a dwarf.
She then turns to Justin.
Yes. These horrors have no place. When we find out how to get to that tentacled creature in the other room, we are going to eliminate these things, and whatever created them, once and for all.
She pauses for a moment before continuing.
The bigger question is though, who, or what, brought this thing here and placed it beneath one of the great cities of the Inner Sea?
Skorhald Warsong |
Panting, Skorhald trots back to the group.
"I dinna know what came over me, but that was the right scariest thing I have ever seen... Sorry, I will na let it happen again."
Healing needed?

Initiative Monster: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
You follow the Spawn of Kyuss to the north.
Two braziers in the northeast and southeast corners light this rectangular room. A simple altar of stone sits in the middle of the east wall, facing a large set of stone double doors to the west. On the altar is a scroll, which glows with an unnatural green light. A writhing green beam of light emanates out of these scrolls to strike the doors to the west, bathing them in the same green glow.
You see the Spawn of Kyuss next to a tiefling with a flaccid and misshapen figure. His fiendish ancestry is evident in the unnaturally green almost fluorescent color of his eyes, his twitching tail, the vestigial horns on his head, and his hoofed feet.
"You are too early to see the Ebon God's Apostle awaken to devour the champion and transform the city. But fear not, you will hear the tales in the Boneyard while you await judgement in the afterlife!"
Skorhald Warsong |
Skorhald quickly casts a spell then begins chanting a battle hymn to embolden the party.
Haste, then Bard Song. If he recognizes this Spawn is of the variety that just caused a fear affect, then Skorhald will use Rallying Cry as his song with the roll below. If it is not of that variety, then he will inspire courage +2 for the party.
Rallying Cry Intimidate: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Rohara Acharya |
"May Lady Luck grant us her blessing." Rohara utters as she moves her hands about in a fashion her companions have seen many times. A wave of her Goddess' powers washes over them as they receive her blessing.
Cast Bless (+1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.)
Aarakess Halcorn |
Round 1
Not knowing what powers this tiefling may have, Aarakess looks at Ceislx and then reaches into her pouch drawing a pinch of sparkling mica dust which she tosses into the air. As she does so, she speaks arcane words which causes the sparkles to fly across the room, multiplying as it does, until it turns into a cloud of sparkling dust about the teifling.
Cast Glitterdust <-- DC20 Will (+1 extra from Spell Focus) or blinded (also cannot become invisible)
GM Blood |
Kilthan may be back from his vacation today, but I am going to bot him and guess what he'll do.
Kilthan uses his blood rage and moves into the room. He is blocked abruptly from advancing 10' from in of the tiefling, as he turns to tell the party what happens, no sounds come out of his mouth! Jag is likewise blocked and silent.
The Spawn of Kyuss stands in place while the tiefling casts a spell, but it seems like a long casting one
Rohara Acharya |
K. Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Rohara notes that there is something stopping Kilthan form reaching the teifling but is unable to discern what exactly it is. She does recognize the spell he is casting and casll a warning to his companions, "He is using summoning magics to summon a powerful creature from beyond this word."
She then calls upon her own magics in an attempt to let Kilthan and Justin reach him. "Lady Luck, I ask for your favor. I wish to stop the magics that prevent my friends from reaching this foul creature before us!"
((Cast Dispel Magic on the spell effect preventing Kilthan from proceeding further. Dispel Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 vs DC of the Spell))
Aarakess Halcorn |
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
Spellcraft:: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
Unreal, there are some mighty bad rolls.
Round 2
Unsure what is blocking Kilthan's advance, Aarakess calls on her patron to dispel whatever might be blocking the half-dwelf.
Cast Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 <-- hope it is not above level 13
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin charges at the creature seeing the path clear in front of him. He calls on the power of Iomedae to smite the tiefling.
swift=smite evil vs caster, full round = charge vs caster, Active effects=bless, haste, smite vs caster, rallying cry - in hands = +1 frosty great axe
Justin's axe with power attack: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 361d12 + 10 + 9 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 9 + 18 = 47
cold damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
+18 smite damage added for evil outsider, if tiefling is not +9 should have been added
His axe comes down in a vicious arc quite on target.
save fort vs AoO if needed for paralysis: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
"What evil have you planned here??"
+1 AC for haste, +3 AC vs priest. -2 AC for charge
GM Blood |
Aarakess, I made a type in my second spoiler that should have said what is causing Kilthan not to be able to attack. Since Rohara already dispelled the barrier to him, I'll use your dispel towards dispelling the silence in the room.
Justin I believe it would only be +9 as it is an native outsider but I'll double check it
Justin rushes by the Spawn of Kyuss to attack the tiefling, and receives an attack of opportunity
AoO Spawn of Kyuss on Justin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan smiles as he feels the barrier melt away from him, his voice echoing slightly, "Better. Jagdbach, kill them."
I assume the stopped movement means I get no attack, so I'm waiting on the next round?
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan takes the small step forward (to 3B) and then lashes out with his Klar, hoping to smash the spawn back into the tiefling and bowl them both over.
Shield Slam: 1d20 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 4 = 28 Ugh, not the best roll. It'll knock him back, but not enough to smash both of them into the wall, sadly. Still, he'd follow, since he has the movement.
Klar (damage): 1d6 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 4 = 16
Jagdbach races back, going around Justin to reach the tiefling, frothing at the mouth as he lashes out.
Bite (Raging): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
GM Blood |
Desperate, the tiefling casts his most deadly spell, hoping to win the day with it. He touch Justin then he feels the life drain out of him.
Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34 DC 27
Touch Attack Justin: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
[dice=Spellcraft DC 21] harm[/spoiler]
Ok Justin this one is important. Need a Fort Save DC 19. Fail it is 120 damage, make it is 60
Skorhald Warsong |
If Justin fails the save, your friendly neighborhood dwarven bard will be casting saving finale to give another chance to not suck by bricking such an easy roll. You're welcome and yes I am awesome. I've also been binge reading Deadpool comics and am all about smartassery right now. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Two things I realized:
1) Didn't include Skorhald's inspiration to the to-hit and damage rolls.
2) It's only a -4 on the Bull Rush for a second opponent -- so, using the same roll (the rules for Bull Rush ask for a new check vs. the new target), I'm thinking Kilthan would succeed in the domino slam, knocking them both into the wall and prone..
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin screams in pain as he tries to resist the evil spell.
FORT: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
97-60+9=46/97 hp
Justin heals himself before hitting again.
LoH: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 1) = 9
Then he tries to end the fight with a brutal series of axe chops and a bite.
Smite1: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 = 331d12 + 19 + 3 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 19 + 3 + 9 = 37
smite2: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 8 ⇒ (4) + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 8 = 201d12 + 19 + 3 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 19 + 3 + 9 = 32
smite 3 haste bonus: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 3 = 221d12 + 19 + 3 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 19 + 3 + 9 = 38
bite: 1d20 + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 16 + 3 + 2 + 3 - 5 = 221d4 + 6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 9 = 19
Justin hits once and misses badly with his other attacks.
GM Blood |
Kilthan, you are right, good to remember the next time!
Kilthan knocks the spawn into the tiefling cleric as the team moves in landing blows. The tiefling grabs Justin by the ankle with a deadly spell that Justin manages to resist enough to stay alive. Justin follows with a killing blow, but as the light starts to fade from his eyes he says, "The Apostle of Kyuss sits beyond that wall awaiting the moment where it shall consume the champion and transform Magnimar. The Age of Worms is upon you, and all you did was hasten its arrival. I'll see you all again, when Kyuss remakes all of his faithful into his chosen!" The tiefling's roll into the back of his head and dies.
The first thing you notice is the green light coming from the scroll ceases, and then a great rumbling and a tremendous roar of an immense creature takes place to the west behind the doors. (Where Cieslx saw the creature in the green bubble). It sounds like whatever is in there is trying to burst its way out.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "Well, that's troubling."
He takes a deep breath, fatigued with his rage released, "Aara, can you figure out what we should grab from the corpse? I think it's time to find a solid defensive position."
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess looks at the dead teifling. Not a good person that one. I still do not understand the hatred and vile evil that leads one to consider, let alone follow, such a horrid faith.
With that, Aarakess moves in and casts Detect Magic to see what, if anything is of value on the teifling.
Spellcraft (Item 1): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
Spellcraft (Item 2): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Spellcraft (Item 3): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Spellcraft (Item 4): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
Order the items in alphabetical order.
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara moves to Justin's side and calls upon her Goddess' magics again. The glowing blue-silver surrounds her hand as she touches the paladin as she heals the harm done by the tielfling.
Cast Cure Critical Wounds: 4d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 1) + 9 = 26
GM Blood |
Str Check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
The creature continues to pound away shaking the joint. It seems to not have broken free yet as the roaring still continues through the doors to the west.
With Aarakess's detect magic spell the tiefling had magical:
chainmail, wooden shield, club, belt, and a strand of beads around his neck.
Next round actions:
I would assume between the pounding on the ceiling next to you that time wise you do not have time to identify. The club and shield should be pretty easy to pick up, the strand beads maybe too. The chainmail armor would take a couple rounds at least to remove. Those are all actions and time. Let me know what everyone is doing this round
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess looks at the group.
Club, armor, shield, belt and beads are all magic. Stuff the in a bag of holding is my advice. From what Cieslx told me, what is behind that wall is very big and evil. I can get myself and three others out of here if necessary. I am not skilled enough to take all of us.
Teleport - self + 3/level
With that, she touches Justin and whispers a prayer to her patron, starting to cackle as she does.
A bit of luck for the Palizard.
Standard: Fortune hex on Justin <-- make that save or a crib confirm
Move: Cackle
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "I'm strong enough to carry the corpse as we get out of here.... But I think we need to deal with the evil thing."
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"Let us bring the whole thing away, not worth sorting through the stuff till later."
Justin slings it over his shoulder with ease.
With a 23 strength, Justin should be able to carry the corpse with ease and probable, with his medium encumbrance due to his armor, be less affected than Kilthan.
Loh again: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 2) = 6
"I think the evil creature is headed to the arena. If we get away we can probably get reinforcements. The other group we made made a truce with would probably help us. This is probably a threat all gladiators would agree to fight."
I think we can get the rest of the teams to help out here.
"Aarakess, if you want to teleport to the dorms to sound the alarm, that would be a great idea. I do not think this evil plans on fighting more than one champion team."
