Kilthan Hammerstone |
I'll go, for sure.
GM Blood |
Rohara casts a spell transporting herself out of the fire and into the wasps up above. Justin and Kilthan are just out of their range to the south of them. Justing begins by attacking the only drow not in the wasps and combines a number of attacks to put him down.
Dryn's and Kilthan's actions remaining!
FYI, the floor up above where you dim door'd to is NOT difficult terrain
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Did Dryn's round 1 action not happen yet?
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Sorry for this being short. Phone post.
Kilthan drops his bow, readying his axe and Klar and waits for one of the drow to step forward, calling down, "Aara, can you aim these wasps away from us?".
Edit: Clicked Post instead of Preview. Arrgh. Here's the rest of what I wanted...
Jagdbach plants his rear claws and attempts to shred the drow nearest him with a snarl. I included +2 flanking from Rohara, if that's wrong, the claw misses.

I thought Justin killed the target nearest himself? Otherwise, Kilthan would have attacked rather than readying an action.

Round 3
Aarakess begins to cackle madly as she stares up at the drow still within the swarm of wasps causing it to doubt its ability to ever get free of the flying stinging creatures.

GM Blood |
Kilthan, Justin killed Drow #1 in that spot (E9) and #2 just moved into that spot this round to avoid the wasp swarm. I can retcon your attacks if you like.
Skorhald, even though that drow is 10' in squares away from you, you forgot he is also 10' above, so you cannot reach Drow #4.

Fort save vs nausea: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Success
The cleric does not overly enjoy her position of being within the swarm of wasp and the tiny creatures getting in and under her armor. wincing with each sting, the woman raises her weapon and strikes out at the the dark elf between her and Jagdbach with her morningstar.
The elf almost dodges the first attack but the inspiration from Skorhald helps to just connect buta sudden sting from a wasp throws her second attack off in a wild manner.
(edit: forgot inspire courage)
Attack dark elf in C-11: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 20 (hit), Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack dark elf in C-11: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10 (miss)
Move to C-12 in an attempt to get out of the wasps...
GM Blood |
Revision, Drow #4 moved out of the swarm, missed that in my posting, adjusting Rohara to the square to the south of it out of the swarm as well.
Skorhald slams the drow on the ground twice with a claw by jag, but it is still holding on. Justin wears down drow #2 killing him. Rohara and Jagdbach combine a couple hits on drow #4, but again it manages to barely hang on.
Rohara take another 5 damage and a fort save for poison last round and nausea and poison save this round as the swarm rolls over you and Drow #4.
Kilthan still has his roll before the drow's turn
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Fort Save (Wasp Poison): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Kilthan grits his teeth and steps into the wasps, taking a small step and bashing the nauseated drow with his Klar, knocking him into the wall, then decaptiating him as he bounces off the wall and falls prone.
Klar (Slam, PA): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26 for 1d6 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 10 Stupid Klar, being a light weapon and thus only -3/+3 PA instead of -3/+6
Waraxe (PA): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30 Threat
Waraxe (PA): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 = 28 Confirm
For massive overkill. Er... 3d10 + 33 ⇒ (1, 8, 2) + 33 = 44
He calls down, "We're out of drow up here. Can we make the wasps stop?"
Edit: The 5'step was to C-10.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Rather than having the swarm move in that direction, I will spend a Standard Action to redirect the swarm to the north/northwest. This should get Skorhald and #3. After everyone has moved out of it. The swarm should continue to the north following the passage and being a real nuisance for anyone waiting in the passage for the next 5 rounds. If Dryn moves to the south, Skorhald can also move one square south, get out of the swarm and still be able to hit #3.
Swarm Damage to Skorhald and #3: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
DC13 Fort or nauseated
DC13 Fort or poisoned - for 1 Dex damage
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Flying swarms are your friend. Except when you step into them deliberately. Forgot to record the 5 damage.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Kilthan, depends on our init order. I moved the swarm, so if I went first, then it should have been out of that space before you went.
.
And, yeh, we need to work on our swarm coordination. I did not expect you all to hop up to the top level when I put the swarm there. I figured it would buzz around and eventually get most of them to jump down to us.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Your R3 action was the cackle -- mine was the eating of bugs. No big deal.
Skorhald Warsong |
Swatting away at the last of the wasps, the dwarf sputters. "Blast woman! Ye keep those things in yer gut to spew forth?!? Nasty buggers... Burned, stung... ooch, ye don't get many straight-up brawls do ye?"
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Jagdbach releases his rage, the fury leaving him and causing the poor creature to all but collapse from the combination of fatigue and blood loss. Kilthan slides down the side of the wall and rushes to his side, and then, sure that he's survived, starts scratching his companion behind the ears, looking up at Rohara, "Would you mind looking at Jagdbach?"
Status: Kilthan: 85/94 ; Jagdbach (no longer raging): 29/70
Aarakess Halcorn |
As she watches the wasps head up the passage:
I hope they have more traps set for us, those bugs should surprise them something serious.
She then looks down at Buzzaw.
Yikes, he took some serious hits. Ouch. I can help him some.
Aarakess then reaches down and touches him allowing some healing magic to flow into him, although it looks more like the wounds are stretching back together more so than normal divine healing.
Use Healing Hex on Jagdbach: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (1, 8) + 9 = 18 <-- should be up to 47 now
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara is also shaking herself to get the last of the insects off and out of her armor and clothing. "That was rather unpleasant."
She turns her attention to Jagdbach at Kilthan's urgings. Kneeling down the cleric makes sure that the others are all withing sight and calls upon her goddess, "Let Lady Luck's energy heal your wounds." The waves of holy power radiates outward healing the wounds incurred by dark elf and wasp.
((Channel Healing: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 1) = 11, Channel Healing: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 6) = 13 for 24 total healed to all))
"There you are, all healed up" she says to the badger and gives him a gentle pet. she looks to the others as she stands and moves to the edge of the ledge to deal with being lowered/climbing down.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Suddenly Aarakess realizes what the others were talking about.
Sorry, we need to discuss tactics. I did not know you all could get up there that easily. I figured the wasps would bite and sting them until they decided to jump down, or die refusing.
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin is all healed up.
"At the beginning, we cast the magic that helps us the most. That way it lasts longer. The magic that hurts them should also be cast at the beginning. Us fighters can take care of the rest."
Rohara Acharya |
(Grrr... Piazo ate my post last night)
Rohara nods to with a smile to Aarakess, "Apologies my friend, but Desna has granted me one of her blessings that allows the transportation between one place and another. With my understanding of the this blessing, I can bring up to two others and travel a fair distance within a battlefield. I may only cast this blessing once per day, unless I were to find a scroll or some other magical device."
she continues, Lady Luck has also given a similar ability, but it functions with far less distance. I can take as many others as long as the distance is also accounted for."
Rohara can cast Dimension Door as a domain spell once per day. A 4th level pearl of power would be nice to be able to recast that one :)
She also has the Dimensional Hop ability of 80 ft per day. Rohara can take as many as she is able to pay the cost for. Example, 4 people 20 ft would cost all of her 80 ft./day
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan nods, "Why don't you search the bodies, I'll go scout ahead and see if there's anyone setting up more nasty surprises. Can someone cast that message spell?"
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Message spell active, Kilthan whispers, "Jagbach, guard Aara.", then wills his adaptation to change, gaining the darkvision that he so coveted growing up.
[B]"Tell them not to kill the elf with a beard and an axe," he whispers, then creeps carefully down the tunnel, grateful for his Feather Step.

GM Blood |
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
After healing and making sure you are ready Kilthan heads down the sloping passage to scout ahead. The gently sloping passageway ends in a large chamber dominated on the far side by a pool of water formed by a leaking cistern above before flowing out of the room in a thin stream. Something in the pool glows pale green, bathing the room in shifting curtains of light.
As you enter your immediate attention is drawn to a snake-like creature with the head of a humanoid women and a forked tongue. She appears to be relaxing, coiled around one of the stalagmites near the pool. Although she clearly has spotted you, she is just swaying back and forth slightly, sizing you up.
Knowledge Check for Kilthan
This large serpent with a humanlike head is a spirit naga. It is an Aberration
Spirit nagas possess significant innate spell casting ability. Most spirit nagas speak Abyssal and Common.
A spirit naga can charm people simply by meeting their gaze, and its bite carries a deadly poison.
Spirit nagas delight in places of death and desolation. Battle-scarred ruins, untended graveyards, despoiled forests, and tangled swamps all attract these repulsive creatures. Spirit nagas seek out places of fundamental corruption, sites they believe to be imbued with dark magics. The crypts of long-dead tyrants, the death places of great heroes, and the ruins of nefarious keeps all attract these wretched serpents.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Knowledge (Dungeon): 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 2 = 21
Kilthan whispers, "Found a spirit naga. Sadly, she found me too."
He stays where he is, keeping a wary eye on het while also looking out for anyone else that may be laying in ambush. Finally, unnerved by the lingering silence, he says, "I'm not the elf you're looking for."
