Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin sings along to the catchy ballad and steps next to Kilthan and attacks wounded creatures first. His priority is to reduce their opponents. He swings hard with his axe.

Fort the record, it is perform oratory... Skorhald sings for entertainment but inspires through speech, and sometimes comedic jibing of opponents... - Think the St. Crispin's day speech from Henry V and Spiderman's quips during combat.

Aarakess Halcorn |
Hmmm, I am confused. I thought that Justin had moved where Rohara (the Anala icon) is standing. And that Justin and Kilthan had both attacked #1. Kilthan posted that he attacked #1 and Justin said he attacked the same one as Kilthan. Rohara then posted that she moved behind Kilthan giving him a bit of luck for the turn.
This should leave #3 and #4 in the room unharmed. #1 should be down and #2 should have the 8 damage from Dryn. My post is assuming that this is what happened and that there are two dopplegangers in the room to the south of Kilthan.
------
As Aarakess finishes her spell, she pulls what appears to be a small dried frog from her pouch, you are unsure you want to know what else she might have in that pouch, and tosses into the room near Kilthan. A second later, an overwhelming croaking is heard as thousands of tiny green frogs appear crawling over the two dopplegangers in the room while biting the shapechangers with poisonous bites.

Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan winces under the onslaught from the three doppelgangers, Ow... Guess I was too slow with my shield... Better get faster or I'm going to get dead..... The half-elf then plants his left foot to use as a pivot as he puts his weight behind his strikes, spinning at the last moment as he notices the one in the doorway begin to sicken from the magic. Heh, excellent...Hope they like the rain... and that Justin can handle the one in the hall...

Sadly, that was last round when I had but 1 attack... Though I'm more than happy to re-roll all of those if Rohara's action is to renew it. :)
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Nope, I'm right after her in the initiative list.
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara winces, only a little, at the attacks that Kilthan takes from the doppelgangers. She answers the half-elven-dwarf with a nod and starts to cast a spell and calls to her goddess, "Desna I ask for your power to heal this friend." Around Rohara's hand is a purplish energy that flows into Kilthan as many of his wounds begin to close.

Round 2 full attack with inspire courage
He turns to Aarakess: "That haste spell is the one that works the best. Use it first next time."
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess looks up at Justin:
I only can cast it once. I want to save it for when we really need it. This just did not seem like the time and you all seem to have things pretty well under control.
Skorhald Warsong |
The dwarf keeps chanting along with an inspiring beat while his ball-and-chain continues to swing. Between stanzas he mutters, "Aarakess lass, me ancestors sometimes give me the aid of speed for me allies as well. We should speak about what we can add to the fray so as not to duplicate or hold back overmuch."
The dwarf's deep baritone continues to chant in cadence:
"Axes slash and hammers crush, the shifters skulls are turned to mush,
Claws that rend and jaws that snap, they thought we'd fallen to their trap,
But fiercely to our weapons swing, ancestors watch us as we bring
Doom and death to those we face, and tear the evil from this place!"
And he lashes out again at the remaining doppleganger with his dorn-dergar:

Aarakess Halcorn |
Usually I use Hexes, but with multiple less powerful enemies, hexes are less useful, so I decided to disable/damage the two confined to the room. I did not realize that Skorhald had haste, but that does eliminate me from having to memorize it. Perhaps I will put haste in the ring of spell storing and not memorize it any more.
Aarakess Halcorn |
No, Skorhald has it as a 3rd level spell. As a Bard, he will be able to cast several each day whereas I have to memorize the spell. I figure that the ring is the backup in case something happens to Skorhald. I can memorize as many as you want, it just cuts down on other fun witchy spells, like Rain of Frogs, which have are so much more fun to creatively write about when casting.

Looking into the three open rooms, they are all practically identical. Each contains two comfortable beds, a washbasin, two full-length mirrors, and a large wardrobe packed with different styles of clothing. Every type of outfit available in the core rulebook can be found.
You find various bits of jewelry (brooches amulets, ring, etc) scattered throughout the rooms with a total value of 500gp. Each of the three rooms also has a single noble's outfit, a single royal outfit, and numerous other outfits worth a total of 250gp.
Skorhald Warsong |
Panting a bit with the exertion of the fight, Skorhald turns to his new companions with a big grin as he wipes some brain matter from his dorn-dergar.
"Kilthan me lad, I think I like these new friends... Well fought indeed! I think I'll be tagging along for a mite-bit as there will surely be stories to tell..."
He then pulls a wand from his satchel and offers to heal those in need.
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
After helping with the searches the dwarf adds.
"I suppose it makes sense that the shifters would have lots of clothes to disguise themselves with."
The dwarf takes a careful look around to make sure nothing was missed.
I'm guessing the GM rolls perceptions for secret doors and such, but just wanted to be thorough. Also, more wand healing available as needed, just let me know.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Sorry, I attacked #4 based on this:
You are right. Change #1's attacks previously on Kilthan to #4 (Same Result).
And the fact that I didn't get an AoO when he stepped away... Not that it matters now, I was just attacking the not-nauseated one in the other room who'd just struck me. ;)
Aarakess Halcorn |
I figured it was the perfect setup for a Rain of Frogs, you guys had the ones in the hallway being worked on, Kilthan was blocking the door, and the ones in the room appeared trapped, ie perfect for a poisonous nauseating swarm of frogs. As it turned out, these were much easier than the last two we fought.
GM Blood |
Round 1 on your turn you cast frogs which will kick in round 2. At the top of round 2, #4 attacked from the door and 5' stepped, while #3 moved in and did the same. Your rain of frogs happened and #3 failed his save vs nausea and then gets killed by Kilthan. Top of Round 3, #4 makes its save vs nausea and 5' steps back to the door lands a hit, then will die one way or another (Most likely by frogs)
Aarakess Halcorn |
Ok, no problem. Either way they are all deaded and we can heal ourselves.
Onward.
Who needs healing? I have some healing hexes left. I can heal anyone except Justin, Jagdbach, Sandy and Dryn who I have already used healing hexes on today.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "I do. Even with Rohara's wonderful spell, that last one apparently needed to be a hero on the way down."
Were the wand shots for yourself, Skorhald, or are you healing Jagdbach who's injured and next to you?(and once all the bad guys are gone, also fatigued).
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
"Ewww, practicing becoming people? Creepy, creepy, creepy. At least they have good taste in clothing! These are nice outfits. A bit tall for me though." Dryn makes sure her crossbow is loaded as they ready to continue on. "So which way from here? I read somewhere 'always go left'."
Rohara Acharya |
With the battle done Rohara first tends to her friends, "With the blessings of Desna, may your wounds be healed"
((Channel Energy 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 6) = 18 healed to all that need.
"As to the clothing, I an sure there is something amongst all this that will fit you Dryn. We should, time permitting, gather what we might want from this collection and perhaps donate much of the rest to those in need?" she looks to the others to see how they feel if her suggestion.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan nods, "I do think it would be wise to donate the clothes... but we may want to get them on the way out, to avoid being overburdened by large bundles."
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara nods, "Of course. Now is not the time to gather up this collection of clothing. Let us, see to whatever this place is about. It is, eerie that they would be, 'training' to take on other forms. In the numbers that we have battled thus far, seems like... an invasion from within. How do we tell who is or might be one of these creatures?"
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan shrugs, "Apparently I wasn't quite as sneaky as I'd thought. However, I'll go check the west door."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Ok, the wand charges get the little fuzzsaw 4 from max, which is good enough, I'd think. Hoping for a healing hex from Aara to see how Kilthan's doing...
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Jagbach, out of his rage, is at 57/58. Kilthan's at 70/82, post hex.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan carefully examines the door to ensure it won't kill him and then pushes the door open.
