Anala looks to the merchant like he was speaking some foreign language, "Dark magic? I am a priestess of Sarenrae, the Everlight. We reveal that which hides in the dark!" She produces her holy symbol that hangs from her neck making sure to show all present that there is nothing else about her neck. "I healed Tarquin with positive energy... you all felt it as it would have radiated throughout the room. I wished no one harm. And my companions and I seek only justice... the lizardman, is a follower of Iomedae and is himself seek answers as we speak. As I have spoken already, we will find whomever is responsible. My word to Sarenrae."

The woman eyes the merchant at Kilthan's accusation and seems to like how the halfling attempted to turn the argument on the man. She casts detect magic with a simple word and gesture, "I cast a spell to detect magics... Let us see what you have to hide now, yes? Perhaps my companions here," she waves to the Tobar and Kilthan, "Have the right of it?"

Things begin to look ugly after the merchant sways the crowd once again, but Tobar's logic followed by Anala's spirtual grace confinces the crowd once and for all to your side. With a snarl the merchant aggresively moves towards Kilthan. Kilthan and Tobar are expecting it and react quickly after the merchant, while Anala and Dryn'taka do not have the vantage point of the other two. Kilthan and Tobar act in the surprise round after him

The merchant has a snarl on his face and steps towards Kilthan and attacks! 5' step and standard action attack

JustinYou will get here on round 2

Aarakess you will be able to get here round 3

Everyone remember you do not have armor on or have your weapons. (unless you tucked a small weapon like a dagger somewhere. Otherwise you can use a dinner knife as a 1d3 dagger (1d2 small), a bottle that is an improvised weapon (1d4 medium or 1d3 small), or a chair that acts as a club.

"And the true foe reveals himself!" the cleric states pointing the merchant who has just attacked Kilthan.

She calls upon her channeling once again... everyone but our new baddie again feels the holy energies of the Everlight.

Anala then starts to cast a spell, "Sarenrae, I ask for your blessings against this adversary that would from the shadows!"

She looks behind the bar for any weapons.

• Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.)

Kilthan winces at the blow, and says through gritted teeth, "Killing me won't solve your problem. You failed."

He says in Dwarven, "Jagdbach, fury-kill.", while making a small step to grab a chair to defend himself with.

5' step, free action to direct, standard to equip a chair (provokes, I believe, sadly) -- and I don't think I can turn on my thick skin this round, so AC 14 is it.

Did we establish where the furry, fuzzy, fury is?

He was upstairs in your room for dinner time. He won't get an AoO for the chair in the surprise round.

The merchant continues to attack Kilthan. He lands one wicked blow 32 damage this round and adjust the surprise round to 24 for 56 total, then take back 10 from Anala's channel for a total of 46 damage so far. Remember that one of the options for her Blessings spell is AC

That may be, but I don't get to pick what his spell effect 'til my turn in round 1 -- in the surprise round, there was no spell to get help from.... also, for the record, I liked the 12 in the surprise round better.

Would Justin or Aara think to open the door to let the furball out, with Kilthan calling to him -- or will he be sundering the door -- which does make a liar out of Kilthan's promises to keep the place nice.

Kilthan winces and wills his skin to harden, even as he draws upon the spell's magic to further defend him. He tugs on the chair to splinter it, leaving a leg in each hand, and he readies himself to parry the beast's attacks, attacking carefully, keeping him distracted against Tobar. He calls out, "Anala? How, odd. I made a post yesterday afternoon and there is no sign of it now. Piazo is having some annoying issues of late.

"On my way Kilthan! the woman called to the elven man as her quick scan for any weapon behind the bar turns up nothing.

She moves along behind the bar towards Kilthan and can see her two companions locked in some nasty combat with the merchant that seemed to want Aarakess blamed for assault, if not murder.

Calling upon her divine powers she calls, "May the Everlight grant me the power to heal your wounds." As her hand takes on a golden glow she reaches across the bar and touches Kilthan.

Move to K-6 behind the bar (the cover should negate any AoOs)

A doppelganger can perfectly mimic the form of any Small or Medium humanoid, including specific individuals. Doppelgangers often work together in clans, secretly helping each other maintain their stolen identities.

Knowledge (nature) DC 23:
A doppelganger can continuously read the surface thoughts of the people around it. It uses this ability to help stay in character. A rare variant is the greater doppelganger, which can literally consume minds.

Despite looking like and appearing dressed like a merchant while it was alive, it is instead outfitted in studded leather armor and has a short sword and a couple daggers. Anala looks at the wounds it left on Kilthan and can tell this creature has claws that it was using during the fight.

Also found on the creature is a strangely crooked key attached to a small key chain. The key head bears a unique design of a ship being pulled underwater by a huge octopus.

Knowledge (local) DC 20:
You recognize the design on the key as some of the same as a design over several old warehouses in the rundown neighbor hood called Rag's End in Beacon's Point district.

The authorities come a few minutes later after the fight is done and between the dead monster, the eye witnesses, and Tarquin's backing you are kept clear of any charges.

Tarquin is grateful for saving his life and offers you free room and board for a month.

Vitals (Kilthan):

Male Half-Elven Ranger (Infiltrator): 9/Bloodrager (Spelleater): 1
Vitals (Jagdbach):

Nature: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Kilthan kicks the doppelganger corpse and then identifies the creature, telling his companions about them, ending with the warning, "...so there may be more of them about."

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 <-- auto make all these, if anyone wants any of the equipment, let us know

Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Aarakess looks at the key:
This design looks like its from some warehouses in the old Rag's End area of Beacon Point.

{HP 74/74 | AC18/FF14/T14/CMD21 | F+9/R+11/W+3 | Inish +4, Per +11}

Dryn runs up and gives Aarakess a hug. "I'm glad you're not a murderer! That was scary though. Why would he want to kill Tarquin? If we want to go explore, maybe we should come up with a password, or a gesture of some kind. That way we know each other in case we get separated somehow. I don't like the idea of staring each other down like in a story."

Know (Nature): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

HP 44/70; AC 23 (FF 20, T 13); F+7, R+5, W+9

With the merchant, now creature, dead Anala looks to Kilthan and Justin tending to their wounds. (Justin CMW 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (5, 8) + 7 = 20 +10 = 30 hp healed. Not sure how Kilthan is down)

The woman turns to Aarakess and the others, "Are we up for a little investigation?"

After a thought the woman mentions, "Would could always contact Aarakess's familiar, I have heard that faerie dragon's have telepathy and she can pass it along to others. If I had thought of it I would have called the creature right away when we saw what the doppelganger did."

Tobar diverts himself upstairs and calls down Galopin to give the doppleganger a thorough sniffing...
Trying to determine if Galopin (through scent ability) can specifically pinpoint doppleganger stink vs normal person smell
