Spells don't end just because you go unconscious except for concentration spells.


Correct spells stay on until they duration expire. I would however rule that if someone died, then was brought back by raise dead that any spell on them was gone.

After Kelkzar misses, Tengu #15 attempts to move past him and away from Quintus without provoking an AoO.

The leader clicks an order to #13 while moving. Tengu #13, who looked ready to make sure Rauno never stood, seems upset but follows the leaders orders. Moving east until it is just north of the lone square northeast of Jirin/Northwest of Kelkzar and open one of the secret wall panels. The leader moves past you and also into the hidden hallway. Tengu #10 attempts a run past Kelkzar and Quintus but fails provoking an AoO.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 *AoO for both Quintus and Kelkzar*

For everyone if Tengu #10 gets hit:

The AoO kills the tengu. The Tengu leader sees this and closes the secret door leading north.

For everyone if both AoO misses:

Somehow the tengu manages to evade both attacks and makes it to the secret hallway, closing the door behind him

This time, Quintus isn't fooled by the tengu trying to slip past him. A quick chop to the bird leaves it dying on the floor.

"No!" yells Trevor as he watches the Tengus slip away. He runs after them and lands his axe in the wall panel, hoping to smash through it.

Remember that Trevor had moved up; he had to be adjacent to #10 to attack him last round.


Right you are Quintus! I believe Trevor's speed is 20' and it is 30' to the secret door. But he indeed does see the tengus' retreat and would have had an AoO if Quintus and Kelkzar would have missed.

Rowena groggily comes to, despite having her unconscious form being completely ignored by the party healers. She picks up her longspear and staggers over to where Trevor is attacking a door.

Rising slowly, Rauno winces in pain at the acid burns across his body.

He stands back and considers the special secret doors that were used against them, hoping to reason out a clue that will help them understand.

Is there perhaps a magical key to operating them that allows them to time their use to tactically? Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Is there perhaps a clever mechanical trigger mechanism that would be so readily used by all of them at an instant's notice? How would they work in concert like that? Knowledge Engineering 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Anything that might give us a bonus to perception rolls to work the doors?


A knowledge religion to go along with Rauno's check might give you a clue

Failing to find a hidden latch, Kelkzar pauses to consider other possibilities. Perhaps a form of magic? We are in a temple.

Is is possible for Quintus to have used a rebuke death or two on Rauno before the party leveled? That was his intention while Trevor and Kelkzar were bashing on the door.

At Rauno's observation, Quintus begins to check the downed tengu for one that's still clinging to life. If he finds one, he'll cast stabilize on it and see if the touch of its hand will open the secret door that Rowena is behind.


Quintus, you can get one off on Rauno, Rowena is the only other one unconscious and she is hidden so not her

Trevor and the party feels a boost and he moves over to start hacking down the secret door with his axe. It takes Trevor 5 rounds to completely bash it down. What he sees behind it is a 5' long hallway going north leading to a stone door.

Everyone else can take 5 rounds of actions in that time. Rowena is 1/4 of the way to finding her way out of the secret hallway

Trevor lets his axe fall to his side and goes back to pick up his flail and shield. He puts the axe away on his back. He then pauses: "Where's Rowena..?"

Rauno will cast See Invisibility on himself in preparation. Nothing else until the group is actually ready to follow the tengu through the door.


Jirin, the door does not appear to be trapped or locked.

Jirin turns to the body of the group, saying, "I couldn't find any traps on the door, nor do I think it's trapped. I didn't want to open it before we were all ready to go through, though.:

"Um, still no Rowena?" she asked, frowning as she realized for herself that the woman hadn't yet returned to the group - or even been found.

"Rowena, what are you doing there? Be careful, I'm bashing the door down!"

Trevor lifts his axe slowly to give time to everyone who would suggest another way. If not, he'll carefully hack the door down.


When Trevor raises his axe to start hacking on the door, Rauno nods in approval, casts Gravity Bow and readies an action to shoot anyone that shows themselves at the first door that Trevor hacked down (where the tengu previously disappeared).


OK, Rowena is found and with you now. Nothing comes through the door to the north.

When Trevor stands ready with his axe, Rauno will try the handle to see if it is locked. If it is not, he'll push (or pull, as appropriate) the door open and flatten against the wall, letting Trevor past. If it is locked, he looks back at the others, shrugging helplessly.

"Aye, an' if only they'd keep 'em there and not come after us all hot an' bothered-like!" she agreed, rolling her eyes in remembered exasperation.


Boxes and crates fill this room, leaving only a narrow alley to cross. Kegs of water, boxes of rations, and other mundane gear area arranged in neat, orderly piles. Many of the crates and boxes have Smenk's symbol branded on it, a rampant rooster perched on a gold coin. A passage way continues to the north.

The path is very narrow and to move through the room you will have to squueze.

Squeeze:
Squeezing: In some cases, you may have to squeeze into or through an area that isn't as wide as the space you take up. You can squeeze through or into a space that is at least half as wide as your normal space. Each move into or through a narrow space counts as if it were 2 squares, and while squeezed in a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC.[/ooc]
