Trevor does his best not to stand in the way. He can't believe all those rooms have stayed hidden for so long. He watches and tries to guess what kInd of people were living here before it got sealed.

"Why all these rooms?"

Lessien, you find a hidden switch near the magical device spewing out the orange sludge.

HP 19/29 AC 17. Non-mutagen: AC17/14/13;F:+5 R:+7 W:+0 Mutagen: AC 20/15/15; F:+5 R:+9 W:-1

Lessien tentatively touches the orange sludge with the tip of an arrow, then the fletching and shaft, to see if she can determine anything about its nature.

"This switch might stop the flow of the sludge, but it might also set off a trap. Before I try to deactivate it, can everyone move to the hall where we can escape?"

Lessien continues to examine the substance.

Lessien, the sludge that looks like vomit and tastes like gravy is some sort of nutrient. One serving could satisfy a person for a full day and the basin contains 15 servings.

HP 19/29 AC 17. Non-mutagen: AC17/14/13;F:+5 R:+7 W:+0 Mutagen: AC 20/15/15; F:+5 R:+9 W:-1

Lessien scratches her head, "Huh..."

Much to her companions horror, she fills a flask with the sludge, and drinks it, after tentatively taking a sip. "As I surmised...this is a potent nutrient mass. The amount still in the basin would easily last one person 2 weeks, completely sustaining their needs. Amazing. And it certainly tastes better than it looks..."

"Quintus, I am going to take a closer look at this egg. Can you stand by in case of an unexpected adverse effect?"

Rauno touch the egg, sniff at it, listen closely at its surfacetap it. He's seeing if he can determine what it is made of, and if it may be organic or mineral. He'll check the gold insignia. Does it look like it is firmly attached?

"What does it taste like?"

Trevor is trying to stay calm as everyone is playing with things they perhaps shouldn't. He thinks a bit, then offers: "Look, we try everything here, but we just blazed through the previous room. I don't get it... What's the difference?" He turns to Kelkzar with the last words, hoping for some guidance.

Knowledge (arcana) DC 11:
This creature is an earth elemental, a living manifestation of soil and stone. This result reveals all elemental traits and the earth subtype. Earth elementals speak Terran.

Knowledge (arcana) DC 16:
An earth elemental pummels foes with its stony fists. Its mastery over the earth makes its attacks more effective when both it and its opponent are touching the ground.

Knowledge (arcana) DC 21:
More powerful earth elementals are generally resistant to physical harm. An earth elemental can glide through earth and stone (but not metal) as easily as a fish swims through water. An earth elemental can also use its solid mass to shove foes with a particularly effective bull rush. Casting move earth on an area containing a burrowing earth elemental can stun the creature and fling it back several paces.

Moving things along....

You all go into the eastern hallway while Lessien pulls the switch. You hear a great rumble to the southern side of the pillar. Moving around the pillar you see that it once was some sort of tool closet that must have been trapped with a large slab of stone and the lever reset it. Inside you see a crushed corpse wearing a suit of shiny silver chainmail that somehow resisted any damage from the falling stone. There is an old leather sack in the corner that mostly was missed by the slab of stone and also some items hanging on the wall, a pair of goggles and 2 batons.

You carefully check for traps and discover that it is no longer functioning after pulling that lever to retract the stone.

"So they could feed the workers, too? That's a lot of magic to put into one place, but he was a Wind Duke. Let's finish looking at these rooms and get back to town."

The backpack in the tool area crumbles to the touch revealing six small statuettes, each one would fit in the space of a human's two hands together. Part of the backpack caught caught by the slab falling, but three of the six statuettes remain intact.

One of the statuettes is of a grand palace
One is of a slim spire with eight connected smaller towers of different heights
One is of a grand standium

They are appear to be similar in style to the Bralani architecture seen above (where you fought the Wind Warriors). Each intact statuette is worth 200gp.

Checking out the southern room

Quote:
This wide chamber must once have been the living quarters of an important figure. A large stone slab that suggests the shape of a bed rests against the east wall, under the huge bas-relief of a robust, long nosed bald humanoid figure with outstretched hands. The figure wears a lovingly sculpted wind-tossed robe that gives him the appearance of a triumphant god. A glyph that looks like a stylized arrow marks an amulet worn around the figure's neck. Wardrobes and dressers seemingly carved from the stone walls look to have been ransacked long ago.

A thin bed of whirling air is above the stone slab to the east. You test it and discover it supports your weight. You imagine it would be quite a comfortable night of sleep.

The figure's symbol worn is that of a Bralani named Nadroc. Nothing else is in the room.

Trevor paces in wonder as he hears of the Bralani and sees all the tools they left behind: "Such a time this must have been! They seemed like a noble people, felled down by the darkest of forces..."

As he moves across the room and find the air current: "Hey look! Air Bed!!!" as he jumps on the cushion of air.

"Hmm. Perhaps a bed, perhaps an intended resting place."

When Trevor jumps on it, Rauno adds "Perhaps an elemental monster trying to lure exhausted prey to it."

Sorry about the delay folks. Been waiting for Kelkzar to update and then we can move on, but he hasn't posted all week in either here or his S&S game I am in. I'll give it through the weekend and then we may have to replace. (which I really don't want to do)

OK there will be a back to town time as you cleared out the Whispering Cairn. Also your money from selling the owlbear will be back the next day. Is it time to split your money and sell things in town or still trying your best to lay low?

You head back to town with successfully clearing out the Whispering Cairn. Visiting Allustan, he tells you he has a surprise for your group outside of town. Taking a short 5 minute walk out of town he leads you to what looks to be an old mine office that has seem some repair as of late.

It a two story building. As you walk in there is a foyer which leads to a living room. Past the living room is a nice cozy study/library. To the left of the living room is a dining room which leads to the kitchen and pantry.

Stairs lead up from the living room which leads to the second story where there is three bedrooms.

Stairs also lead down from the kitchen leading to an empty cellar. There is an external entrance to the cellar as well.

Outside there is a nice yard with a well.

Allustan said he has had people working around the clock getting the house ready for you to have a place to call your own and work out of. He hands you the keys to the home.

Currently it has simple locks and basic furniture. You could upgrade those if desired and decorate it further.

Allustan listens to your stories and what you saw in the Whispering Cairn. He think he may like to study it further and see for himself. Allustan takes a look at your newly recovered items.

Looking at the silver diadem with Zosiel's person glyph on it, he tells you that it boosts one's willpower, common sense, awareness, and intuition. Circlet of Wisdom +2. He senses greater power in it somehow, and thinks it a device to hold on to.

The horns are not magical and he think they could fetch 50gp each.

Inside the box Allustan whistles when he sees the loop with the handle. He says that this is or was an artifact called talisman of the sphere. Allustan tells you that this was used to help control spheres of annihilation, holes in the continuity of the universe, everything they touched were utterly destroyed. The spheres were used extensively in the war between the Bralani and the demons. After the final battle, the spheres were scattered and hidden. Allustan says that this artifact is now inactive, but urges you to keep it, saying "You should always be prepared for anything". He hands it to Rauno saying that only arcane casters can use or even wield it.

He checks out the magical chainmail and says it is enchanted to better protect than normal chainmail +1. The goggles allow a greater ability to see close, about 1 foot away. goggles of minute seeing, +5 to diable device

The batons are two wands, shatter (7 charges) and unseen servant (16 charges)

Campaign tab has been updated.

Quick Recap

You entered the Whispering Cairn and while the main level had been looted long ago, discovered some hidden areas that still had some monsters and treasure located within. Finding all seven colored lanterns and lighting them lead you to an area where you could not pass without helping the ghost of a long dead boy.

Taking his bones to bury them on his farm next to his family you discovered the bones of the family had been stolen recently. The only clue was a torn off arm with a tattoo on it. That tattoo was of a brand of a mine worker no longer alive and whose remaining members now work for Balabar Smenk, the most powerful mine manager in Diamond Point.

Confronting two of the four members of the crew, you convinced the leader, Kullen to reveal they were working a side job for a man named Filge at the old observatory.

You cleaned out the observatory of undead, including Filge. You found all the bones of the Land family as well as a note by someone with the initial "S" that brought Filge into town. Filge was investigating a worm taken by "S" from cultists in the "Dourstone Mine". Allustan paid you for the worm and after studying it, sent it off with Marzena, one of his associates, to Magnimar to have his friend Eligos to have a look at it.

You also were approached by Dannath, daughter of Lazare of "Lazare's House" for a private meeting with her father.

You entered the final area of the Whispering Cairn where you found the true tomb of a long dead Wind Duke Bralani named Zosiel.

In any case, it's tremendously helpful for our endeavors, as is your constant advice, so thank you."

To Trevor: "Well, I believe Rowena and I will be taking one room, and I'm sure you'll want to room with your mentor, which I believe leaves the third one for Quintus and Rauno. Though I'm sure Kelkzar will be happy to teach you about hanging a sock on the door handle..."

Allustan says, "In part it is for helping this town out. Part is the 'recommendation' made of you from higher powers, and also because things are getting a little more serious than when you first came to town to check out a long looted cairn."

"You uncovered a cult somewhere in town that the 'S' in the note, most likely Balabar Smenk, has some knowledge or involvement in. Also you recovered that worm, which is something that concerns me. You need a place of your own to conduct business and have some privacy. The mine office I got for practically nothing, and it did cost me some gold to fix up, but it will be well worth it if you can continue to uncover the rot that has infested this town."
