Quintus nods, and will cast the spell when the party reaches the river. "This will last us a little more than twenty minutes if I have to cast it on everyone."

"I still have a flight spell prepared, though even if I use this rod to extend it, it will only last as long as your blessing. Perhaps it would be better if we hold it in reserve? In case someone's air walk is dispelled?"

Before we go, Rauno will cast his second Telepathic Bond, and Message on Trevor.

The priest also prepares and casts restoration on himself before the party sets out, as well as create food & water (because I don't think we brought a lot of rations along).

If so, Kelkzar will approach stealthily...take 10 for 24.

Airwalking down the river you take the fork and there are the two huge oozes made of blood. They seem to sense you as you approach and only Rowena's reflexes are quick enough to act before them

Round 1

Initiative Order - Rowena, Blood Ooze, Rauno, Kelkzar, Trevor, Quintus

Blood Ooze AC 26 T 13 FF 21 CMD 28

Knowledge (Religion) DC 19:
These creatures are called Blood Amniotes. They are undead and an ooze with all of the bonuses and limitations of each.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 24:
Blood Amniotes are mindless and sightless but can tell where living things are. Any wounds it takes heals quickly, unless destroyed. (fast heal). They can move across walls with ease and fit into smaller spaces.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 29:
Blood Amniotes slam into their victims and expel a portion of their own blood into the victim reducing their health. With enough hits like these it can spawn another of their kind.

Knowledge (Religion) DC 34:
Blood Amniotes will not stop pursuing their prey in search for blood. However they will not travel underwater and could lose track of their prey if they get far enough away.

AC 27/14/25, HP 107/107 F: +10+1, R: +6+1, W: +14*+1

"Blood amniotes! Mindless undead oozes that can sense life! Kill them quickly or they'll heal."

AC 26/T 26/FF 20; F/R/W +14/+15/+14; Max HP 111; Current HP 110 Effects:

"I'll be the flanker!" Rowena says, concentrates briefly, and elongates into a cloud of gas, which stretches out up to the ceiling right where the two branches meet.

After Rowena goes gaseous, the blood amniotes move in and reach out, one hitting Trevor and sapping his health.

"They'll try to drain your blood and split off into more of themselves. If you get in trouble, go underwater; they won't follow you there!"

Rauno will cast Extended Haste on the group, using his rod to do so.

AC 26/T 26/FF 20; F/R/W +14/+15/+14; Max HP 111; Current HP 110 Effects:

I tried to move Rowena, but am not able to.

Yeah I have it set so only I can move it, and after my PC crashed I haven't gotten my map software where I grid thing re-installed. Which fork/square were you moving to? Ceiling here is 15' high above the water (which is about 5' deep or so) so you can be stack on top of each other.

I think I can five foot step under air walk. If I'm misforgetting, just ignore the extra attacks.
Kelkzar takes a quick step toward the closest ooze (#1), rages, and begins to attack with his falchion.

Quintus holds up his plain wooden ankh and calls on Sarenrae's power to blast the undead oozes. Positive energy surges forth from him in a wave.

Channel energy; DC 17 Will save for half damage: 6d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 6, 3, 4) + 11 = 31

Unfortunately, Kelkzar, I don't think they're susceptible to crits in any case.

No doubt you're right. Would be most unusual oozes if they were vulnerable.

Correct the oozes cannot be hit with criticals or sneak attack damage

Will Save #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Will Save #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Rauno casts haste while Kelkzar hits the ooze twice, the creature's weird makeup absorbing some of the blow DR/-. Quintus follows up with a wave of positive energy scorching the creatures.

Botting Trevor

Trevor follows up Kelkzar's attacks with a couple of his own:

Power Attack #1 Trevor vs Ooze #1: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39
Damage: 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30

Hitting the ooze it bursts into a spray of blood and dissipates into the river. Trevor takes a 5' forward and continues his attacks but is unable to connect

Power Attack #2 Trevor vs Ooze #1: 1d20 + 21 - 5 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 21 - 5 - 3 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28

Damage: 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28

Rowena has the last move of the round before the remaining ooze

AC 26/T 26/FF 20; F/R/W +14/+15/+14; Max HP 111; Current HP 110 Effects:

Rowena solidifies (standard action).

She threatens the remaining ooze with her bardiche, though the ooze probably also can't be flanked.

T1 K2 R3: 1d3 ⇒ 3

As Rowena moves down to threaten with her bardiche, the ooze smells fresh blood and shoots out a psudopod to get it.

Slam Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
Con Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

I believe you can flank bonus to hit even if you cannot crit or get precision damage. I checked blindsight and it doesn't say anything about flanking as far I can see.

Round 3

Rauno will ready a wand and start to use it to grow Trevor to the size of an ogre.

Move to ready wand, start full round action to cast Enlarge Person.

Rauno is doing that with the rod of extend in his off hand. I don't think I need a hand free to use the wand, just a hand to hold the wand. If I do need a free hand for some reason, I'll instead use two move actions, one to stash the rod of extend and one to draw the wand.

Stats:

Kelkzar takes a step toward the remaining ooze and with the added haste provided by Rauno, he slashes through the creature, connecting three more times.

Trevor reels from the drain, but does not falter. He swings his fauchard back in a vertical arc then whirls the blade on a deadly diagonal, over and over again.

#2 and #4 likely hits.

Rauno pauses a moment while he gets the wand ready to cast enlarge person as he watches Kelkzar and Trevor team up and burst the ooze despite its physique that resist their blows.

End Combat!

At the end of the fork that goes to the east (where Rowena is currently on the combat map) is where the temperature drops alarmingly and the waters turn to ice. Rowena and Kelkzar both notice automatically that a 7 foot diameter patch of ice on the ceiling is actually only a few feet thick and a large chamber can be seen through the cloudy red ice. With a bit of work (either by hacking or melting) you think it would be possible to gain access to the chamber above. The ice appears to be about 3' thick between you and the chamber above.

"They got me... Took some of my blood. A lot actually..." replies Trevor with a whoozy voice.

Damage

"Well done, champions. We should move on as quickly as we can."

Despite Rauno's words, he does not rush them on. While Quintus tends to the injuries, Rauno does a detect magic spell to see if anything of particular value remains of past victims.

AC 27/14/25, HP 107/107 F: +10+1, R: +6+1, W: +14*+1

Quintus shakes his head as he examines the paladin. "I can't do anything about the blood loss yet today, unless we rest again. The rest of it, though, I can do something about." He calls on Sarenrae's grace again, healing flowing from his hands into the paladin.

If there are no objections, Kelkzar does just that. He pulls a coin out of his purse, casts silence on it and then helps Trevor to hack through the ice.

"I have a wand that might be able to shatter the ice. I am certainly willing to try it. The only advantage it may offer is that no one need be below the ice when it falls."

Trevor notices Rauno's lips moving. He shouts back at him:

Lip Reading:
"I can't hear you because of the coin! THE COIN! IT MAKES THINGS SILENT!!! Never mind..."

but you can't hear what he says. He shrugs and and resumes striking at the ice, until Kelkzar pats him on the shoulder and takes the coin away.

[b}"I should be able to activate the wand thirty or forty feet away from the ice. If we can keep the noise level down, it would be good. Anything beyond there may notice a shift in the air movement once the ice is removed, but that can't be helped. Keeping our entrance as quiet as possible would still be advantageous."[/b]

Once someone has the coin in place to absorb the noise, Rauno will try to use his wand of Shatter to destroy the ice barrier.
