Quill frowns, wishing these people were more about hugs than killing.

Why can't these people be more like the Elf that Hugs the World?

Quill sighs. He just wants to grow strong enough to kill his parents then live his life in peace, no giants, no orcs, just he and Marigold Pottersmoot...until she gets old and dies and then he'll have to find another to love. He guesses.

"Gorum cares not for how battle is waged, just that it is waged. Magic, siege, even archery - all of those have their place. But iron is the constant. Where there is war, there is iron. Pure battle is face to face, clad in iron, iron in hand. That is why it is holy. We are all strong in our own ways here and there is virtue in that. But as a priest of Gorum I wear iron, because that is what priests of Gorum do."

He looks around the greenhouse.

"And since I wear and use iron, swamps and greenhouses aren't where I prefer to spend my time."

*Approving nod*

Those that are looking around have plenty to feast their eyes on. Beautiful flowers bloomed from stem, branch, and vine. Gentle fronds of varying shades draped over the narrow paths. Jewel-like birds and large dragonflies dove among the branches, feasting on tiny insects. There were a few fruiting plants, though Sander saw nothing as prosaic as a tomato.

There were also plants that were neither beautiful, nor sweet-smelling mixed in with the rest. Viny plants, and darkly-barked trees with thorns. Though nothing dangerous appeared to inhabit the greenhouse, it certainly seemed home to all variety of plants.

Then, when you were a little more than two-thirds of the way across the large greenhouse, Storn caught sight of a plant that seemed to be moving with the party, about fifteen feet off the path you were currently following.

"You're lucky that Gorumites only really care about blasphemy when we need someone to figh---"

The big man suddenly freezes. He jerks his head over to the side repeatedly and then speaks in a loud whisper.

"There's a big plant following us."

Storn will turn to face the plant and watch its movements closely, his big hammer ready to do some plant-smashing.

It was hard for Sander to see through the dense foliage, most of it well over his head. Still, he caught a glimpse of something moving, something huge with barbed vines. He was pretty sure he had heard of these things before. They were called tendriclos, but he didn't know much about them.

He wasn't given much time to think, either, as the puns started flying and Molly began shouting at the thing. Its ambush spoiled, the creature rose to its full height, almost twenty feel from the ground. Vines and woody limbs shredded the vegetation between it and you as it lunged for the attack. @Sander - I would say at least 10 minutes. You each hop-skip-jumped individually with no sense of urgency. Then Storn and Dieter fell, had to recover, climb up, and then Molly went back for Storn's gear. I think 10 minutes is the minimum amount of time that would have taken in a non-combat situation. I mean, it takes me 10 minutes to get 2 kids out the door in the morning, and that's without needing to jump across floating lily pads...although it does account for having to go back for gear left behind (lunch boxes, backpacks, etc.)

@Dieter - No 5' stepping in here, unless you have a special ability to do that in difficult terrain (in which case please ssay so)

Storn charged the giant plant as Molly and Mariana loaded their weapons. Storn tripped as he neared the viny beast, and his blow glanced harmlessly off it s thick hide. Quill moved back to gain a little working room, his ability to shoot precisely not hampered by the undergrowth here. Sander, acting quickly, threw one of his bombs into the open maw of the creature as it moved in to chomp on Storn. The bomb wreaked horrible damage on the plant, but it wasn't enough to save Storn. Sander throws another bomb at the creature as he ponders Molly's question.

"I don't know. It's kind of like cannibalism, isn't it? I mean, would we eat a pig that ate people?"

Dieter stood there, unsure of where to strike as Storn thrashed in the belly of the beast. Storn's armor spikes tore small holes in the fibrous flesh, then with a slurping sound, the big man opened a rent in the tendriculos' side and fell to the ground. The big plant immediately tried to swallow him again, but the angle was bad. Just then, a bomb hurled by Sander flew in and burst on the plant creature, charring it some more as Molly and Mariana fired more arrows into it.

One of the creature's flailing vines caught Dieter a vicious blow on the leg, then wrapped tightly about it, crushing the armor and nearly lifting Dieter from the ground.

Round 4:

Storn is free, and prone on the ground next to the creature.

Dieter takes a hit for 8 damage and is grappled

Gm screen:

Sander's bomb lands in almost the same spot as Quinn's previous shots had driven into the creature, just above the gaping rent in its side where Storn had made his exit. The explosion tore the beast apart, the fire burning away at the plant material. In moments, it was all over, with Storn helping Dieter free himself from the tendriculos' grasp.

When others are ready, he'll follow the group to the other doors.
