Before Bambang goes up the stairs

"You measure a snake with scales?" Bambang quips, pleased with his reply.

Bambang takes over the scrolls, both the one just handed over by the Gathlains and the one the novice handed to the party earlier. He spends a minute or two, concentrating on them, trying to discern psychically what remnants spirits are present, and if so, if they would reveal anything of import to him.

Use object reading ability

Object Reading:
If the item has any historical significance, the occultist learns one piece of information about its past (as determined by the GM).

Finally, before ascending, Bambang activates psychically the ability to detect magical aura (granted by his headband) and searches the groundfloor room, to see if there are anything noteworthy. Other than the owl and albatross floating and fishing in the knee-deep water, that is.

Bambang climbs up the stairs together with his party, but he pauses, eyes opened wide when he sees the creature floating in front of them. He recognises it immediately from his studies, and quickly shares with his team.

"That is a grodair, an aquatic creature from the primal world of the fey. The bulbous sac on its spine is an extradimensional space that can contain thousands of gallons of water. The creature drains water (including small bits of debris and even very small creatures) from one place and releases it in another, typically creating boggy areas as it moves so it can travel more quickly than its tentacles can carry it. A grodair can rise up to 6 feet on its tentacles. It is is intelligent, but extremely absentminded and careless. Its memory is poor, and it has difficulty remembering things it was told even 5 minutes prior — though it can recall some events of the distant past with perfect clarity. I think it can only speak Aquan, Sylvan, and Varisian."

He pauses here, then continues, "I can speak Sylvan, but I know I do not have the gift of gab. But if no one else can engage him, I would make my attempt."

Bambang in his search notes some pieces of floating paper nearby with magical properties and picks up 3 magical scrolls. They don't look anything like the parchments you recover, it looks just like plain old scrolls.

GM, it is not the spell. It is a class ability of occultist.

Object Reading (Occultist) - Full Text:
At 2nd level, an occultist learns how to read information from items he examines.

Examining an item in this way requires him to spend 1 minute handling the item. If the item is a magic item, the occultist learns its properties and command word as if he had successfully examined the item using detect magic and succeeded at a Spellcraft check. This ability does not reveal whether the item is cursed unless the occultist's class level is equal to or greater than the caster level of the item. If the item has any historical significance, the occultist learns one piece of information about its past (as determined by the GM). Finally, if the item was last used no longer than 1 day ago per the occultist's class level, the occultist learns one piece of information about the last creature to use the item. This information might be a glimpse of the creature's appearance, a brief vision of what it saw while using the item, or perhaps its emotional state when it last used the item. The GM determines what information is gained in this way. This functions like the psychometry occult skill unlock, but doesn't require a skill check and can be used at will.

Using the same ability, Bambang also auto-succeeds in identifying magical items. Nifty trick. :)

"I've found these three magical scrolls. One allows you to comprehend languages, one grants the strength of a bull, and one create light as bright as day. I can use the first, but would have some trouble figuring out the other two. Who would want to hold on to it?"

Those without darkvision may cast light while going down the stairs. You will definitely need some form of light in the basement.

After deciding mostly that the best way to stop the water would be assist the grodair in apprehending the fox, the pathfinders head back down the spiral staircase into the wet damp library.

Flooding from the library above has turned this storage chamber into a treacherous bog. Rising above the black lake, the flat tops of many rows of shelves create a makeshift maze of causeways. A spiral staircase descends from above, a deluge of water cascading down the steps. Four narrow corridors channel rivers of seawater off into the darkness.

Map updated. The water here is approximately 3 feet in depth, it would require you 20 feet of movement to move in to a water square. Moving from water to shelve requires a climb check of DC5. While you may walk on the shelves, it will require a DC5 acrobatics or you may walk at half speed without any checks. Failing this check will cause you to be prone.

Approaching into the darkness, in front somewhere between the shelves there is light glowing from under the water.

I'm once again corrected that DR should apply to magic weapons and not spells! So looks like the vulture was hit! Seems like everyone can't get hits in!

The voidworm moves seamlessly around the Nagaji and his pet snake avoiding any hits.
Hanzo's punch was not able to hit the bird square in the face but hits the air in front of the bird. Similarly Dax's energy was skilfully dodged, once again, by the clever worm! However Sithiss the snake inspired by everyone's attempt to fight the voidworm, rises back and bites the worm, grabbing it, and constricting it to death all in one fluid motion. As the worm squeals it's death, the Vulture looks on at it eyeing it intently.

The Temp HP from False Life absorbed the first 8 of that damage DM (unless it’s worn off or something since I cast it). Thought that might simplify your HP tracking. :)

Talon is rocked backwards by the attack. His mouth stretching into a muzzle as he howls in pain, then tries to lash back out at the vulture-thing.

Swift to use Battleshape to gain a Bite attack, then full attack the vulture (w/ power attack).

damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6

Struggling to hit the thing, and hurting from its attack, he growls out to the team, ”This won’t last long if we don’t take this thing down.”

Liberty's Edge

Mosquito Witch Handouts

The zombie vulture avoids every single attack thrown at him with ease, just flying out of the way, proving Talon's, Selter, and Sithiss attempts futile.

Sense Motive DC20:
The vulture is eyeing the voidworm and is less interested in you.

Ai watches it flap around, avoiding her friends' attacks, and sighs. "That bird is just fowl!" She reloads her crossbow and takes another shot.

X Bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Not much else I can do. Her stare won't effect it, so she's pretty well out of this one.

Liberty's Edge

The vulture, noting that the dead voidworm is right next to him, grabs the worm from under the snake, and eats it up whole, it chews and chews making crunching noises as it gobbles up the worm.
[spoiler=Sense Motive DC20] The vulture seems contented after it has ate the worm, it seems to have no interest in the rest of you anymore.[/ooc]

If you are next to the vulture, I'll allow a AoO as it eats the voidworm.

Dax moves through the water back to a previous spot, then is preparing to fire upon the vulture when the gnome notices contentment in the undead creature's eyes. "Curious... I do not think it was compelled to attack us. If we stop, it may as well."

That even having been said, Dax readies a blast of ice should the bird continue its assault... Dax seems worried that Bambang's strike might anger the bird.

I meant to post that Hanzo readies an attack as well in case the bird attacks him or an ally.
