Rogan is a bit disappointed to not see the weapon he has trained so long with, but does find one he's a bit familiar with though. He decides to choose a lucerne hammer, not knowing what sort of tricks they may be facing, and thinking the added reach may help.

Are we able to use other combat abilities, such as blessings? It's a supernatural and not a spell like.

Jazmine walks into the armory, gazing about at her choices. "I don't imagine you have any Elven Curved Blades, do you?" she inquires to the armorer. "I've trained with a long sword too, so I can use one of those if I have to." she carefully moves through her choices, finally settling on one of the appropriate weight and length.

Extraordinary and Supernatural abilities are to be threaded with caution, if the captain is able to perceive it as a form of magic or combat enhancement, She disallows it. So for blessings she would definitely say no.

"Another bunch of sorry recruits, much like yourselves."

Jazzmine finds no sign of Elven Curved blades, but many long swords.

Helgga and Casanova, do let me know what weapons you picked.

After picking your weapons of choice, you are lead into a practice arena, where you are met with four other recruits. All of which are Oread's and one whom you recognize as Dell Darkblade, the recruit that showed you around on your first day here.

The captain screams. "Well?! What are you waiting for! Useless Worms."She does not disallow Giggles to participate.

Giggles is not on the tracker, but I assume since you rolled her initiative she will go with Helga after the recruits?
Also, do you want me to use the -4 nonlethal penalty for Giggles or assume we were able to wrap the claws somehow?

Jazmine hefts her practice sword a few times as she and Giggles moves into the practice arena. This is going to be harder without being able to shift like I always do.. she thinks, planning how differently she and Giggles will have to move and respond. She kneels down next to Giggles, and begins tussling with her. "Play time!" she repeats several times before pointing out the opponents in the ring. Friends! Play time! No blood!!"

Once the order to begin comes, Jazmine gives a cool glance towards the oreads surrounding them and salutes with her sword before charging in. While moving, she gives a sharp pattern of whistles to Giggles. She swings at the red cloaked opponent with both hands, but manages a meager swing.

@ Helgga: We are fairly restricted in weapon choices, which kind of screws some of over more than others, but all in all is not too bad. You will loose your Weapon Focus Feat, which sounds bad, but is not really that devastating. I'd suggest really one of two options here;
1.) A Heave Flail which would take up both hands, but deal more damage and for you would be <+5 to hit, 1d10+3 damage>
2.) A sling, which would be a ranged weapon, and not ideal, but might allow you to stay back still act, for you <+2 to attack and 1d4+2 damage>, if that's an option.

Let's not keep us waiting any longer!

Casanova, picking out his weapon of choice, a heavy crossbow with non-lethal arrows, attempts to knock the Oread with the blue garb having a clear line of fire to it.

Hv crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d10 ⇒ 7

The pathfinders don't seem to have gone to a good start, Jazmine and Blood Stone both attempt to go into melee but both missed. Rogan on the other hand, makes a single superior blow that knocks the red garbed oread stunned and weak.

The Oreads try to then spread themselves out to cover as much ground as they can, and at the same time try to position with an advantage around Helgga. They all strike with their falchions in hand.

Two of them seem to have gotten lucky, as they both land a hit on Helgga and Casanova. Unfortunately, to your surprise, their weapons are coated with a liquid like substance. When it comes into contact with your skin, you start to feel woozy.

Helgga and Casanova need to make a DC12 Con check, or fall unconscious! This is a poison effect, single dose on the weapons.

Turning back to the other Oreads, "Don't worry about it, friends. We are all just doing our jobs, and you fought well. As I said, you where out numbered, and we have had the advantage of years of training in adverse conditions. In the end, we all can use this opertunity as an example. It might not have been a life or death situation, but now we can all use this to do better next time for when it very well might be." as he walks over to shake each of their hands and offer further healing if required.

"None of us can do this alone, and I'm not going to lie, you had us on the ropes there for a while. It was only by luck we managed to turn things around, and it could have gone very differently. Besides, you where clearly taking it easy on us for our first time. No shame in wanting to give us a small boost to morale before things get really, really bad." partially suspecting that something else is going on and partially to help them "save face".

They understand, and accept the advice. As a sign of good faith, they provide two potions of CLW to the pathfinders.

Sense Motive DC20:
The guilt on their faces suggest they hide something as well.

We'll give it another 24 hours, if anybody wants to do anything additional, do let know, else we shall go straight to the next morning where you potentially start practical training.

Slightly edited as well!

Jazmine keeps her back turned to the theatrics as she ministers to the wounded of the fight.. even the fallen Oreads. She agrees whole heartedly with Blood Eagle, but keeps her tongue as he requests.

SM: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Once her ministrations are complete, she calls Giggles over for a very well deserved hug and rubdown before they return to their quarters.

After the combat, Rogan takes a few more practice swings with the oversized hammer. "Huh, guess I remember how to use this thing after all." He scoffs at Blood Stone's little speech though, "I don't know what luck you're talking about. I've trained many years under Arqueros to practice my skill's at defending the weak. They just need better training and more experience. Glad I could give them a whipping and show that Captain up."

Evening falls, and you have the privacy of a small corner in the bunk room. No one else has left the dinner hall yet.

"That was worse than i thought. I guess i need to work on my skills in combat to prevent that again."

Jazmine takes a seat in the corner of the bunkroom, idly scratching behind Giggles ears as the dino lays across her legs. She looks around at her team and gathers their attention before asking "Did anyone else notice that the Captain was hiding something? We need to figure out what in the nine hells we have actually gotten ourselves into here.. "

Retroactive Sense Motive for the Oreads: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Once we get a chance to speak freely amongst ourselves, I'll go ahead and bring up my observations, "Indeed, when I offered to help, she seemed, both interested, but was also clearly hiding something. Suspicious. But, do you remember back to when we had to rush and climb the wall. Someone had purposefully placed rocks on the top that where designed to fall on us."

Which I don't really see as bad in any way, it's supposed to be challenging and dangerous, right. :P

"Did anyone else notice anything out of the ordinary about the other obstacles? Or notice how we keep getting handicapped by not being allowed to use our natural talents. It's almost as if she, or her superiors, believes that magic might reveal something. Or, she knows who is setting things up to make us fail and trying to cover their tracks."

"If you ask me, this whole place is a piss poor excuse for military training. Nobody is actually teaching anything. Maybe someone wants us, or more specifically the Society, to fail or look bad here. And maybe the Captain knows it but can't, or won't, say anything." Rogan shrugs and goes back to cleaning his armor. "Or maybe they just really suck here."

Do we have the opportunity to ask around with the other recruits about it?

Liberty's Edge

Mosquito Witch Handouts

Yes, do you have any specific recruit you with to question? And what specifically would you ask?
