Cyrus Laskaris |
Cyrus spins his falchion in one hand before reassuming the two-handed grip and grins wickedly at the fey creature. "You heard the lady." he said with a shrug, approaching with a deliberate and sinister pace.
Intimidate (Aid Another): 1d20 ⇒ 20
Holy crap. Seriously? Wow. I think that's a first for me, nat-20ing a non-modified roll.
GM Bali |
As a point of clarification the fey creature is 25' up in the air
The feys laughter quiets and then stops as it notices the departure of the man and the glares being given by the party.
Demoralized for three rounds
Droguk "Many Scars" |
Pulling out another javelin as he moves up behind Tough, he rears back and throws it with all his might at the fey.
Cold Iron Javelin: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 Damage reverts to normal with ranged projectiles
@Natasza: Did you cast Barkskin on Droguk? And is it like a +2?
AC 17(possible 18/19 w/barkskin if that's what was cast); Hp's 48/65.
GM Bali |
The javelin fails to connect but only by the barest of margins as the fey quickly zips to one side. With the room filled with enemies and his companions dead or fled the fey follows suit and flies out the window.
Back to the top with Cyrus and Nadya. All known combatants have left the room but we'll stay on init for now.
Nadya rushes to the window and leans dangerously far out. "There you are" she says and takes a shot almost straight down.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"I hit the fey but he's still flying. He's headed down the tower."
Natasha Aelena |
Natasha shrugs "A problem for another day. I doubt their is much use in pursuit. Let's see what we can find here."
Natsha looks around checking for magical auras.
Cyrus Laskaris |
Cyrus quickly moves to where his handaxe hit the ground, retrieving the weapon and tucking it beneath his belt once more. "Anyone know what this cauldron is?" he asks, eyeing the device suspiciously.
GM Bali |
A sudden breeze blows through the room, the wind spinning more and more tightly until Natasza's chanting stops and a barely visible being of pure air stands before her.
Meanwhile Natasha begins looking about the room.
Next up Natasza, Droguk and Tough
Initiative : Nadya, Cyrus, Man, Droguk, Natasza, Tough, Natasha, Fey, Kobad
GM Bali |
The air creature swirls to one side and avoids the blow.
Shame...that would have killed it to and the look on Natasza face would have been priceless :)
Cyrus Laskaris |
"Whoa, there big guy! That's Natasza's summon!" Cyrus chimes in. Once it is settled that there is no further foe inside the room, Cyrus begins searching the room, as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
GM Bali |
Looking more closely you easily find the location of the Border Wood and see that a glowing line runs from a location there to near where you suspect this very tower stands. Other lines connect areas all around the world with various other positions in Irrisen.
Outside of the globe you note the cauldron, many maps and books stored throughout the room and three doors exiting the room.
Cyrus Laskaris |
Cyrus seems suddenly captivated by the spinning sphere in the center of the room. He lifts a finger, tracing imaginary lines across its surface, when his eyes suddenly widen. "This..this is Golarion. Look here...the Inner Sea. These lines seem to connect this tower with the Border Wood back in Taldor. Nadya, Natasza, Natasha, come look. See here? This is where we started. This is where the portal that brought us to Irrisen is. And there are others. It..it's really true. There are winter portals opening all over the planet. If we don't stop Elvana, the entire planet will be covered with it. Forever." he says, his tone somewhat disbelieving. Even after hearing it from the Black Knight, it had been hard to believe. But now...here it was. Right in front of them.
He takes a deep breath, looking back to the others, focusing specifically on Nadya. "Natasha said it herself not long ago, but Droguk and I have never laid all our cards on the table, so to speak. I was never sure of the Black Rider's honesty..but now that real, tangible proof is in front of me, I can't deny it any more. While it is true that we took up this quest on our own choice, we are forced to continue it now. A wasting curse has been placed on us should we ever stop trying to finish it. We were set on this path by one of Baba Yaga's riders; something has happened to her and Elvana is to blame. I know there is no love lost for Baba Yaga among most of us, but she must be found and restored, else Golarion will be lost to an eternal winter. That is what brought us here to Irrisen." he says, directly admitting to the redheaded ranger their own encounter with one of Baba Yaga's own for the first time...and the fact that, like it or not, he and Droguk were on her payroll.
Natasha Aelena |
Natasha focuses on the various auras in the room to pinpoint the more powerful objects while listening to Cyrus's words, before anyone does anything though she says "Don't touch it yet, let me finish looking around and then I can take a closer look at it."
Natasza |
Natasza's breath nearly stops as the Scarred one slices right next to her elemental friend.
She points down and claps, making a symbol for *kill*. The creature drops down and begins to chase.
She herself throws a pebble down after whichever target is closest.
Nat: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ele: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Tough runs back towards her, defending his mistress from future assaults.
GM Bali |
The elemental of air bows slightly to Natasza before executing a tight spin and flying from the window. Natasza follows in it's wake stopping at the window and pointed excitedly at the fey to direct her ally.
Despite the nimble feys abilities the being of pure air easily catches up and slams into it. The tiny creature tumbles with the blow but quickly rights itself. Sword in hand it strikes back.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 1 = 19
Damage: 1d2 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 2 - 1 = -2
The blow passes through the elemental but seems to do only minimal damage.
With the window blocked by Nadya and Natasza, Kobad moves to another and scans the area but is unable to find a target.
Despite being focused on the fleeing fey Nadya spares a glance for Cyrus at his admission. She appears confused at first but then refocuses her attention at the battle below saying only, "We can speak more of this later." before loosing another arrow.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 4 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 6 - 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (7) + 1 = 15
The arrow hits but the resilient fey seems unphased.
Initiative : Nadya, Cyrus, Man, Droguk, Natasza, Tough, Natasha, Fey, Kobad
Back to Cyrus
GM Bali |
Natasza and Droguk are up.
GM Bali |
Natasza's stone strikes the fey but seems to do it no harm. The distraction it provides is fatal though as the diminutive creature is unable to recover from the blow in time to avoid the elemental's attack. Unconscious it falls from the sky.
Natasha Aelena |
As the others spend their time trying to fight enemies to far away for her to be concerned on she continues examining the room.
Not sure how many of those you need.

Droguk "Many Scars" |
Seeing how there are no enemies within the room, Droguk moves to pick up the weapons he's dropped. "Where is the flying man?"
Threw 2 javelins. Dropped Mwk Sword also. Whatever it takes to retrieve those is what I'll do over the next several rounds.
Will these weapons shrink if I pick them up? Or stay normal sized?
GM Bali |
I believe they would now stay normal sized
Having deciphered this you turn your attention to the other source of magic in the room. Staring at the cauldron you soon understand its purpose. It's a magical aid known as a Cauldron of Overwhelming Allies which, if used as the focus of a summoning spell, will enhance the spell to summon additional creatures. The magic is limited and requires a day to recharge.Once per day the cauldron can be used as the focus of a summon monster or summon natures ally spell. If so then it conjures 1d3 additional creatures of the same kind from the next lower level list.
Kobad steps away from the window and turns his attention to the alchemical equipment in the alcove. Looking it over he finds many vials and flasks of various fluids that seem as if they might be of use.
He finds :
2x flasks of acid
3x flasks of alchemists fire
2x pinches of flash powder
3x flasks of liquid ice
3x smoke sticks (each a different color)
1x sunrod
2x tanglefoot bags
3x thunder stones
10x tindertwigs in a silver canister (canister worth 50gp)
3x applications of cold iron weapon blanch
Nadya pulls back from the window, "The fey had fallen but I don't see the witch. The fey seemed to be heading toward teh Eastern side of the tower so perhaps he did as well? Should we pursue him?" Looking at the door on the eastern side of the room she adds, "Perhaps there's a window through there that would let us see more?"
Back to Cyrus
Natasza |
"Some of us are brawny, some of us are smart. Some of us have talents, others have art.." Natasza rhymes the words together with a voice that has repeated these ssame words many times.
"I'm sure it's nothing permanent, but should it be I will show you ways to make your life easier. For one, carry smaller swords?" she says, only barely holding down a giggle.
"As for the creature with the wings, it has fallen. My summoned friend has bludgeoned it out of the sky, so we should have no more trouble out of it.
The big man however, we can't let escape. He has seen Nadya and us, so he could get reinforcements and then return to the village, causing many problems."
She then sees Natasha concentrating on the magic in the center.
"Anything of interest, witch?" she says, trying to keep the negative feelings out of her voice.
GM Bali |
Cyrus steps to the eastern door, one of three leading out of the main room, and throws it open. Inside is a large bed, wardrobe, reading desk and bookshelf. A carved ice statue of a striking, robed woman with an owl on her shoulder stands next to an alcove of crystalline tiles. To the south a white curtain hangs in a doorway. Additionally three windows peer out through the walls. One to the Northwest, one Southwest and the final looks out to the Southeast.
GM Bali |
At this point I think we'll drop initiative just to give you all a bit more free form action.
Cyrus Laskaris |
"Our friend is down in the courtyard. Looks like he's trying to get ready for us to come out. Personally I'd rather get down there and give him as little time to prep as possible. We'll still have the keys so we can come back up here and look around as we please. He's a threat that needs ending."
Droguk "Many Scars" |
"I'm sure it's nothing permanent, but should it be I will show you ways to make your life easier. For one, carry smaller swords?" she says, only barely holding down a giggle.
A low growl issues from the barbarian, nary a smile to be seen.
His attention then turns to the yelling ranger. As Cyrus lets them in on the location of the witch man and his possible intentions, "True. But if he is ready as you say, then it is likely he is preparing an ambush." Looking back at his weapons, he pulls the ranger aside. "Landwarden, I am going to need you to carry my weapons. They are too big for me since I've released them. I can do nothing with them in this state. If my condition does not change...," he says, stopping a moment to ponder how he is to live like this from now on before continuing, "then you may rid yourself of them or use them." He nods, releasing the warrior and readying to move.
Cyrus Laskaris |
Cyrus reaches down to give Droguk a clap on the shoulder. "Fear not, my friend. I do not believe the sorcery on you to be permanent...just have to wait for its duration to expire. But I will be happy to carry your things for you in the meantime."
"Not sure that the ambush is ready...I think he might still be prepping it. And the more time we give him, the more time he has to be ready and to heal from the beating we've already given him." he replies, looking back to the others. "The stuff in here can wait. We don't need to give him more time to get ready than is absolutely necessary. Unless there's another way outta here, we have to go through that courtyard to leave."
Kobad the Sorcerer |
just a quick post to keep up but still not fully returned
Kobad goes to try and catch a glimpse of the remaining villian.
His spell arsenal shrinking, he still has a few tricks up his sleeve,
if he can see the one that tried to get away...
Catching sight of the target he hols out his hand, thumb in the air, and one eye shut, kobad takes aim. fire in the hole
magic missile for 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7 damage
if no target then no magic missile
Natasha Aelena |
Natasha having a better understanding for the room nods to Cyrus's words "This can wait, let's deal with the traitor and come back here to finish things."
She heads back toward to the portal and awaits the others.
Natasza |
Natasza issues a command to try and direct the air being to the wizard down there.
Should have studied more...
She then walks over to Tough to calm him down a bit, and responds to the others calmly that she will follow them. She smiles incourageingly to the barbarianm
"You will be fine, scarred one. Take this opportunity to try and learn."
