"By the shield of Arguers", swears the normally polite and impassionate knight.
Kent stands, and without hesitation leaps down the steps to the arena, healing prayers on his lips. He looks around to see if there are any children injured by the acid or falling debris that he could aid or protect. Failing that, he heads towards the centre of mass and prepares to channel the energy of his deity, a Lord of the Empyrean.
The knight holds his shield high above his head as he advances, both to protect himself and in accordance with the position of prayer of the Golden Bulwark.

You identify the horns as ancient hunting horns.
You identify the horns as Ulfen Linnorm Horns, ancient devices used for hunting dragons.
Moments after the black dragon snatches Charvion away, more dragons arrive. On their backs they carry small groups of goblins, and as soon as the dragons hit the ground, the goblins jump off and attack. Not all of the goblins are elegant in their dismount: some simply fall off their dragon, and others jump poorly and break bones, flailing about the arena and squealing in pain.

The usually stoic Varuna is completely caught off guard by the events he sees before him. A dragon, here in Absalom? This is not good at all. And those horns... His instincts similiar to Kentel's, he looks around to see if anyone is in immediate danger and needs help.
"Hmmmph, Ulfen Linnorm Horns. For dragon hunting."
Are we all able to move before after the large dragon but before the goblins arrive? I'm assuming one of the other tiers gets to deal with the small dragons. Also, is there a Kn check for these goblins or are they just regular old goblins?
Ashka Halfshadow |
Baerlie - It doesn't matter because the attack missed, but unless the goblins made a DC 26 Perception check, I don't believe they can see Ashka right now, per this post.
Ashka slips down the steps and over the wall, dropping to the arena floor. Using the panicked crowd as cover, she moves closer to the goblins, hoping to catch them unawares, and drawing her blade as she approaches.

She ducked as a massive dragon swept overhead. Even at that range she could feel her heart skip a beat as an almost supernatural terror tried to take hold.
By the time she had jumped down, with Wolf following along next to her, Oleander only had time for a single shot - directed at the goblin in a red cloak.

The goblin tag-team rain furious blows down upon the knight. Exposed due to his rush to battle, he is only saved from one of the strikes by his trusty shield. Surely this is a sign that his lord is with him now that the day has gone from strange to chaotic.
Assuming the human-despising archer had taken care of the red-cloaked goblin, Kent backhands the blue-scarfed one with his fine, but ancient, family blade. Once this one is down, the knight plans to then cut to his right to prevent the small shadowy creature, who has too thrown himself in the fray, from being flanked and overcome. He swings...
Attack (Longsword): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
"By Desna's holy wings, stand still you green-skinned pest!", yells the holy warrior at the goblin before him who laughs in the cackling, comical fashion that only goblins can, and dodges the blow.
Not sure what Varuna will do next, but seeing him surrounded, Kent steps quickly past him, drawing the attacks of as many goblins as possible, and finishing as a flanked, but well-armoured target between two goblins wearing matching teal and pink hoods.

"Alrighty then, who's next?!?"
Valjoen bounds down the grandstands following his friends and leaps down to the arena floor, his fur-lined cloak fluttering behind him. He draws forth his greatsword and nimbly moves past the elven archer to get a clear view of the goblins.

He looks around, seeing one last goblin close to them. He hopes his allies can handle it, thus he does not move in to aid them. Instead, the warrior looks to see if there are more of the creatures, and if he can aid someone not doing as well as they.

We will just continue fighting until the Overseer GM says otherwise. Every table has it's own fight, it's not possible to aid other tables (AFAIK), at least in this encounter. The tall knight breathes heavily during the pause and looks at his companions, given them, as a group, a nod, "Thank you for following me into battle. It seems my sword was tainted by some of this 'bone-eater's magic. It would have stood me in good favour if I had fallen to a few goblin blades". His words are said humbly; he does not mean to imply that he led the group onto the arena floor, rather that he is glad they are here.
"Archers, including those with magic at their command, covering those with blades here in the centre?" He looks quickly round at the group, trying to recall the detail of the battle, "Are any of you injured?"
Stepping forward to Varuna, he offers his hand, palm downward, which the swordsman may recognise as symbolising a shield, thus how a priest of Arqueros would greet a companion, "Will you take a blessing from my Lord for having stood at my side in battle?"
War Mind: You touch an ally and grant it a tactical advantage for 1 minute. Big fellow sure talks a lot, but he did wade into the middle of those goblins and come out untouched, and he's thinking about the tactics of our foe. Seems a good fellow to have on our side in a fight. She nods, agreeing with his assessment, then says, "I'll be out of sight, waiting for what comes next." She slips through the crowd towards one of the nearby pillars, instinctively seeking shadows to blend into.
