Hi Marduk,
Although I would like to play more I need to decline the invitation. Someone just tricked me into taking over as a GM for a Skulls & Shackles PbP and it will take some time to get that on the road again ;-)
Wyeth Riceak |
Marduk had just dreamt of his childhood crush.... Whom he still has yet to talk about to Wyeth i believe.
I don't know where you're going with this, Marduk, but Wyeth is suddenly very nervous. :op
And no, to my (admittedly flawed) recollection, the subject hasn't come up.
GM BPC |
Hey Marduk, still have the opening for your homebrew? I think I can squeeze that in :)
GM BPC |
So you guys are at the denouement preparing for the climax... I think we should be able to finish this just before PbP Gameday 3. If you guys are available, I'd be happy to run a Season 6 scenario for you, either Hall of Flesh Eaters or Slave Ships of Absalom for PbP Gameday 3 if you wish.
Let me know interest and I'll put in the submission!
GM BPC |
I just posted... but the effect won't come quite in yet as the Sheriff hasn't done much yet. It will come up more fully depending on what Benson does.
Any other scenario suggestions for a good 1-5 that everyone hasn't played? Personal scenarios I enjoy are:
Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment
Severing Ties
Wyeth Riceak |
Well, it's trying to convince the Sheriff of your argument..
I'm not trying to be contentious, just wondering if you were thinking of someone else? (I don't want anyone to be overlooked).
Wyeth had no argument and wasn't trying to convince him of anything. He truthfully stated he didn't recognize the dagger and that it wasn't his, and then asked some questions about circumstances surrounding the discovery of the bodies.
As for Gameday, if you're willing to run something I'd love to partake. No preferences here.
GM BPC |
@Wyeth: Well, poor wording on my part. The Diplomacy rolls will also help sell the truth to a worried crowd.
GM BPC |
Thanks for the heads up!
So just to ask again, out of the following scenarios, who hasn't played them?
Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment
The God's Market Gamble
Before the Dawn pt1: The Bloodcove Disguise
Murder on the Throaty Mermaid
The Merchant's Wake
The other alternative, assuming that no one has run it yet as level 2, would be to run you through the first level of Emerald Spire. This of course would net you 3XP and more gold, too.
Let me know what you guys want! I'd like to put the request in by Tuesday.
Raevin |
I have played God's Market Gamble and Merchant's Wake
GM BPC |
So far, from the 3 out of the 5 of you, the following scenarios are OK:
Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment
Before the Dawn pt1: The Bloodcove Disguise
Optionally: Emerald Spire lvl 1
Just need to hear from Benson and Wyeth :)
Benson Gangtee |
I played through the first level of Emerald Spire recently. Someone said it was something we were allowed to play more than once. The GM didn't make it very interesting, so I'd be curious to see how a better GM runs it. I've played none of the others. No preferences. GM's choice.
GM BPC |
Ahhh, so I do have some options! Cool :)
@Benson: You can replay Emerald Spire, but if you have already played it at level 2, then you cannot do that again (it's only repeatable infinitely for level 1 PCs).
My preference would be for Before the Dawn pt1 as the RP'ing with this group would be great and since it's Season 2, 5 PCs is just fine for it :)

Raevin shrugs and nods to Wyeth, but before he starts heading for the inn to ask about where the two latest victims lived, he does say softly, "The locals aren't thrilled with us, are you all sure it's wise to separate at this junction or should we stick together?"
"I suggest sticking together, being picked off 1 by 1 isn't the pleasant way to go."
If I may make a metagaming comment, Orug's store is just across the street from the inn, so Benson's not really far from the group. The town is small, so we're never very far from each other. If Marduk goes with the sheriff, it's unlikely anyone will start anything against him. Most of the suspicion is on Benson, so he can't really investigate the victims and expect people to open up with info.
Finally, Benson chose his story and his comments to the crowd carefully, hoping to plant the seed that the murderer might not be strangers from out of town, that they are being used and framed by someone else.
But if you want to do something different from what Benson suggested, that's understandable. Might want to keep an eye on Ekira, who's in the inn right now and use the time to gather intel on the victims for later follow-up. Benson will likely return to the inn when he's done with the pony express currier.
At any rate, if we split up, we can cover more ground. :)
Love that Geico commercial that's been playing about the 4 teenagers in a horror movie. "Why don't we get in the running car?!" "Are you crazy? Let's hide behind those chainsaws."
Classic.

GM BPC: I can run Before the Dawn pt2 later if you haven't played it. I have played that one.
Kintampo |
See who thinks he is the leader of the gang, is he aiming for a position as a Venture Lieutenant?
In character only, I like what you are doing. Although you do watch to many NCIS ;-)
Benson Gangtee |
Normally, I'm the player who wants to discuss and consider options while others are being more impulsive. In this circumstance, I felt this particular character would need to do something. He already planned on delivering the letter, so that's what he focused on.
Wyeth Riceak |
... I felt this particular character would need to do something.
Being accused of a double murder is pretty good incentive!
GM BPC |
Sorry for the delay guys, did a bunch of local Pathfinder Society stuff over the weekend, then some family stuff came up. Also because of that, I probably won't be posting much from Thursday-Sunday this week.
However, I did add Before the Dawn pt1 to the PbP, so we're good there!
Wyeth Riceak |
... the half-orc giving a toothy smile while Tessa silently facepalms behind him.
Loved this. :o)
Benson Gangtee |
For what it's worth, Benson has some rogue skills that might come in handy: Climb +6, Disable Device +7, Perception +4, Stealth +6.
He could try to climb up to the attic, if it appears there's a window or vent large enough to fit through and see if there's anyone up there.
Benson Gangtee |
@GM: I'm assuming when you list initiative order but then say bold = up that any bolded name can post. Or should we wait for the people higher on the list to post first?
@ everyone: Did anyone see the TV series Fargo? This scene reminds me of what the Billie Bob Thornton character did. He's a totally evil murderer, yet when the police catch him, his whole character changes to that of a mild mannered Lutheran minister and he fools everyone except the deputy who had a previous encounter with him.
By the way, there are no spoilers in this, in case you haven't seen the show. It's obvious from the get-go that BBT is an evil guy.
GM BPC |
@Benson: For the most part, if you're bolded you can post. When possible, I'll try to order the actions initiative order, but it's often better to just let things go as they are due to the nature of PbP. If you want to wait, that's fine (especially if you want someone to flank with you or what not).
I haven't seen the series of Fargo. But we'll see how this finale goes :)
GM BPC |
Perhaps, depends on how many buttons you wish to push... although at this point it would be best for some more evidence to come into play :)
Benson Gangtee |
I think the letter evidence is the strongest. Plus we need to check the attic (if there is one in the house) to see if there is anyone in fact held prisoner up there. I'll mention that when I present what was in the letter given to the sheriff.
Before I present anything, however, does this man resemble the man described by the courier Raffelo, including the obsidian buttons? And is there any evidence he is left-handed? And is the dagger wound on Benson on his left side or right side?
Has anyone in the crowd identified him by name or given any other indication he is a local resident? The sheriff doesn't seem to recognize him.
GM BPC |
@Benson: No attic. And now that you've gotten a look... give me a Perception check on the other thread :)
You are correct that the Sheriff (or anyone) hasn't identified him.
GM BPC |
@Benson: We'll say yes :) However, I'm going to be out for the evening... so tomorrow morning, we'll continue! Everyone, plan your evidentiary attacks!
GM BPC |
As we are at the stunning conclusion of this scenario... I need the following bits of information from you all!
PFS # for your PC + Faction (just to make sure I got it right)
Name
Email address where I can send the chronicle to.
Goal is to have this to you all before Thanksgiving, then start Before the Dawn pt1 afterwards!
