GM Auke's The Forgotten Laboratory (Inactive)

Game Master Auke Teeninga

The goblins of the dungeon's upper level took more than one trinket from the ancient laboratory that dwells beneath them. The wizard that created these items also performed dangerous experiments, many of which have gone out of control over the years. Stranger still, someone appears to be using the ancient equipment with sinister results.

Scattered among the debris in this chamber are a number of ancient tomes, but most of them have all but turned to dust. Targost manages to uncover a pair of intact tomes written in Draconic. The books concern alchemy and various bits of esoteric arcane lore.

Anyone who references the texts for an hour can attempt her next Knowledge (arcana) check with a +2 circumstance bonus. The tomes are worth 50 gp each.

The remnants of the construct might be dug out of the rubble, but this will take some effort.

BTW Targost, maybe you should cast mage armor?

Ebon is moving rocks for about 1d6 ⇒ 3 minutes. Some of this movement causes debris to fall from the ceiling, but Ebon easily evades it. reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The construct is very badly mangled, but it might be opened with a disable device check.

You could theoretically examine the object without removing it from the machine. I think that Ebon assumed that happened.

Targost has his bow at the ready as he follows Talwin down the righthand passage.

This grand chamber appears to be some sort of observation laboratory. The northern section is raised, and contains rotten benches for watching the experiments below. The southern half of the chamber is dominated by a dais on which is set a heavily stained table. It appears that something has dug through the walls of this room, creating two tunnels out of the chamber.

Staircases to the northwest and northeast lead out of the viewing area, and wooden doors flank the southwest and southeast sides of the dais. Large stone doors stand south of the dais.

A trio of dire rats have claimed this room as their living quarters.
