Earl the Earth Elemental |
Earl double moves towards the remaining dullahan.

Exiel |
Oops guess we're waiting for me. Sorry. XD
Seeing that his friends are on the case of the last dullahan, Exiel decides to try to do damage-control concerning the body of the dullahan at the entrance.
"Best not be seen whilst I'm doing this," he mutters to himself as he casts invisibility and flies towards the entrance.
GM Aram Zey |
Exiel goes invisible and moves closer to the dullahan-body. 42 dimisses his web to make a path for Rhon and Earl. Earl charges the dullahan and just barely manages to hit, though the hit is light to the dullahan.
Cornered by the web and the pathfinders, the dullahan tries to fight to the undeath, but Rhon is too hard to hit.
Pathfinders again.
One dullahan left caught in web.
Exiel trying to hide a body without being seen?
Mike "Middle Manager" Jones |
Mike turns his attention to the webbed Dullahan, moving close enough to be in point blank range.
Just doing a regular Gravity blast on it, since I had to move and can't gather power.

Exiel |
Exiel flies towards the entrance and, if he sees anyone, he creates an image of a dullahan that moves from the inside of the camp to the body of the fallen dullahan. If he sees anyone coming towards the body, he uses the image to wave them away.
Come the next round, if the rune works, he uses the image to gesture towards the body, then flies over to pick it up.
Following round, he has the image beckon to the body and then he himself carries the body back into the tent.
If he sees no one, he will just pick up the body so that as an object it turns invisible with him.
Hopefully this will be enough to dissuade anyone from investigating...
Subject - 42 |
42 will move back to the party. Seeing that his team want to get at the sole survivor, he dismisses his last web.
GM Aram Zey |
Ah, the paizo website is back up I see.
Mike, Rhon and Earl destroy the last dullahan.
Exiel flies out and sees a some soldiers cautiously approaching. They stop when they see his illusion, and then back away when his illusion waves them off. They return their attention to the fallen belfry. It looks like the rest of their troop is assembling to move elsewhere.
You manage to avoid detection for now. You hide the bodies and 42 dismisses his spells, but the signs of battle will still be obvious if anyone comes looking in here.
We are out of combat. The dullahans have the same loot as the last group. What do the Pathfinders do now?
Subject - 42 |
42 looks at the bodies, Move them underground?
My main work computer is down... so i am using a Japanese keyboard.... Not fun, esspecially whn all the brackets and special characters have been switched around to a different standard.
Mike "Middle Manager" Jones |
"We should probably drag them into a tent and then go deal with rest of the army. If we could figure out where their leadership was, we could probably just go there and convince them all to surrender. Clearly, for most of you, stealth is not in your wheelhouse, so that limits our options. I know that Rhon is a paladin, so lying is probably out as well."
Mike ponders for a moment, then adds "As I see it, we might just consider opting for a display of overwhelming power to get them to surrender, hopefully without killing any of them, as I don't think the soldiers necessarily need or deserve to die."
Exiel |
"Rhon's not the only paladin present," Exiel mutters with a wry grin.
"I agree about moving the bodies into a tent or underground, and I too would like to get the soldiers to surrender without killing them. I'm not sure what kind of show of overwhelming power would cause an entire army to stand down though. And if we fail, we might find ourselves having to fight an entire army at once, along with the worst of what lies in the other buildings. And as we saw from that hydra-dragon, there are some things here we should not take lightly."
"We need information - understanding of their command structure. And we also need to know more about this place. The gas to the North, the lightning in the sky, this lantern..."
"Hmm... speaking of that lightning, when your singularity attack on the tower starting hurting the soldiers, one of them tried to do something with a panel on the wall of the tower. Perhaps 42 and Lauriel should go take a closer look?"
Mike "Middle Manager" Jones |
"Unless we leave here, we're going to have to deal with the entire army, one way or the other. We've gotten lucky so far, but relying too much on luck is a fool's errand. I think we should have the discussion now about two things; the first, what we're specifically looking for here, and the second, how we plan to deal with the army. Better to talk things out now that we have a quiet moment then to keep trying to sneak around and pushing our luck."
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
Rhon begins dragging bodies, with the assistance of Earl, into a nearby non-damaged tent.
"Our goal is to stop the Mad Monk and the Ice Queen's collusion to bring eternal winter to Galorion, call for the Thrice-Tenth kingdom, and to free Baba Yaga from her imprisonment by these same two. And yes, before you say it, it is a lot for us to try to accomplish."
Rhon drags another body to Earl to add to the growing stack in the tent. " Now if we want to figure out how to proceed I would suggest we find out who leads this force and see if he, she, or it can direct us to the Mad Monk. Of course we could always get lucky and the Mad Monk himself could be the leader of this force which would be a nice time saver."
As he turns to go retrieve another body he stops and turns towards his companions once more. "Just one other thing. We still have to figure out what to do about Anastasia and hopefully find out what happened to her brother Alexei."
Exiel |
"By the way, there's something you guys should know about Anastasia, the girl we rescued. The hut and the coffin man seemed to show her great respect, and the coffin man even called her 'honoured grand daughter'. If this Rasputin fellow is in truth Baba Yaga's son, then... I think the girl might in truth be Rasputin's daughter! She seemed pretty shaken up when that was revealed to her, far more than at the sight of the hut or the coffin man... Poor girl, for so much to be laid upon her so suddenly in such a short time! Though I pray it is not so, I fear that she will have a part to play in unraveling the puzzle of how to find and reach Rasputin, and I am loathe to put her at risk or ask her for help against a man who might be her real father..."
There was this little titbit...
"I fear Anastasia may have a larger part to play in this than even she knows. If she has any surviving kin here who would care for her, and we have a way of finding them, I would see her brought to them. If not, however, I will raise her myself if I have to."
"Unfortunately, I do not think 42 is skilled in enchantment spells, and neither am I, so I don't think we will be able to get information that way. But I imagine a place like this is likely to have prisoners, or perhaps some neutral indifferent party who has no love for the masters of this place? We just need to find them somehow..."
"I'm open to any other suggestions though. What did you have in mind when you mentioned this 'show of force', Mike?"
GM, did you say the soldiers were preparing to move away from the belfry and the central ruin? Does the central ruin look like it could be a prison of some sort? What about the three buildings at the North side of the camp?
I'd also like to take a closer look at that panel the guard was trying to operate. The one in the tower that seemed to do something with the lightning.
GM Aram Zey |
Exiel:
The soldiers were filing into a marching order. It looked like they were done doing what they wanted or needed to do there.
The three buildings at the North of the camp are a solidly built well-kept stone house to the West, an also-sturdy but a little more dilapidated and smaller house to the East and between them is a tall fence surrounding a compound filled with a brownish-green fog in which ill-defined shapes shuffle about.
Exiel goes to take a look at the panel in the wall at the tower, keeping low to avoid detection. At this distance and with his invisibility, he easily avoids detection for now.
After some consultation with Lauriel, he determines that the tower is really built over and conceals a complex magical device used to channel eldritch emanations. In this case, it is being used to anchor a small part of the the First World on this plane. He determines that there should be three more like it to create a stable field, and that tampering with it without the proper knowledge could prove extremely dangerous and potentially reality-warping.
Mike "Middle Manager" Jones |
Once Exiel shares that information with the party, Mike will say "That explains what the soldiers are doing here. They are guarding....whatever that thing is. Call it a doodad."
Mike grabs the last of the dead bodies and drags it into the tent and says "Regardless, we should probably check out the stone buildings, as that is where we will likely find the leadership. They tend to like meetingrooms and beds to sleep in."
Exiel |
Exiel nods.
"The fancy stone building then... though it's on the other side of the camp... I can't just get us there with a dimension door - it's too far away. We will need to get closer. If we go back the way we came to the shack where we fought that treant, we can clear the run-down stone building on the off-chance it's being used as a prison, and then from there I can make Rhon, 42 and myself invisible and we can try to get across to the other stone building on foot. If possible, I'd like to avoid going into that gas-filled compound. Not without Ralph casting a life bubble spell on us - and he ain't here to cast it!"
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"If that is the best path for us then lets get a move on." Rhon begins to move towards the fence where we initially entered this part of the encampment.
Earl the Earth Elemental |
Earl follows Rhon from below ground keeping his Tremorsense honed for any possible surprises that may spring up.
Subject - 42 |
42 smiles. "I can make myself invisible if you need to use it on someone else, that's fine."
Mike "Middle Manager" Jones |
"Agreed. Best we get moving."
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (12) + 25 = 37

GM Aram Zey |
You use 42's ring and go back through the fence, and then through the charnel house where you fought the kyton and the gorynych dragon. You cross the snow to the shack where you fought the treant. You reach the shack just as a patrol of soldiers rounds the corner, and stay hidden while they pass.
Any final preparations before you investigate the Eastern stone building should be done now, if that is where you want to go.
Subject - 42 |
42 will keep his ring activated and cast stone skin on himself.
"Now, i'm ready"
Exiel |
Exiel thinks for a moment.
"Rhon, how about sending Earl to scout out the closer stone building from below the ground? Don't need him to stick his head out, just wanna get an idea of how many creatures there are in there using his tremorsense."
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"Sounds like a good idea." Rhon instructs Earl on what needs done and points out the building.
"Okay, that should work." Rhon takes up a position to wait for Earl to return.
GM Aram Zey |
After a few more minutes, Earl returns and reports that there are four large bipedal creatures in the nearest stone building.
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"Alright folks, we have four large two legged creatures inside the building. Is anyone able to view the interior of the building so that we can see what these creatures are?"
Exiel |
"I can see the interior of the building if we kick the door down," Exiel chuckles.
If we're gonna storm the place, Exiel will cast divine favour before heading in.
GM Aram Zey |
If I do not hear more in 12 hours, I will assume you storm the building as you are. 42 and Exiel's buffs have been noted.
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"Well alright then. If it looks bad than we will bail out and head for the other building. Here's hoping for the best though."
GM Aram Zey |
Fortunately, you have managed to prevent an alarm from being raised so far, so the patrols are not that frequent right now. You look around till the coast is clear, and then rush to the stone building. The door opens easily.
The interior of this large building is dominated by a cold stove overturned among scattered cauldrons and smashed casks. Several frozen corpses hang from the rafters above a large copper kettle in the center of the room, surrounded by makeshift beds of piled furs. Inside, four large humanoids covered in thick white fur drop bottles from their lips and turn to face you, having evidently detected your presence moments before you opened the door. They don't look friendly.

Exiel rushes into the room and dodges the many swiping claws that reach for him from every side, and he gives the green giant a little cut. Earl goes next, pushing one of the giants further into the room to make space for Mike. Rhon follows and give the green giant a bigger cut. Mike follows in and tries to blast one of the giants but misses. 42 rushes past Exiel even deeper into the room and charges his scimitar with electricity, but misses on his attack. Not flat-footed.
The giants see that 42 and Exiel have foolishly walked into flanks and are happy to oblige. Red and yellow attack 42 with rime-covered bites and claws. One of them only hits with a bite but the other strikes him with all attacks and rends his body with its claws. 42's stoneskin and blinking protects him partially - the bites don't even get through his stoneskin. However, each bite and claw sends a shiver through his flesh. Exiel is also attacked from all sides, but is only hit once by a lucky bite.

Rhon hacks at Green hitting it multiple times but still it stands. Earl hits but once and Blue not impressed.
