In the recruitment, I said Crafting would be handled as in the CRB. Looking at the crafting rules now, I see some problems.

Full plate costs 1,500 gp, so you would need to buy the materials at the cost of 500 gp. For crafting the full plate, you would make a Craft (armor) check and compare it to DC 19. If you succeed, you multiply your check by the DC, and the result is the amount of silver pieces towards the cost of the armor.

So if your check was 19 (take 10), your result would be 19 * 19 = 361 silver pieces towards the goal of 15,000 sp in the armor. This check represents one week's worth of work. Assuming you take 10 on your Craft checks, it would take approximately 42 weeks for you to craft the full plate. That's...rather excessive.

I think it would be better to say that each Craft check represents one day of work. That would instead take just over 41 days to make the full plate, which seems to me a much more reasonable amount of time.

I assume you'd approve this change, since it benefits you with no drawbacks (that I can see). However, you definitely will not have over a month of free time right now. I'd say that you could treat this kind of like magic item crafting, which allows you to craft at half-speed (so divide the sp result in half) when adventuring, presuming you have access to the forge.

That does indeed seem much more reasonable. Thank you. If you don't mind I'll take 500gp out of my character sheet for the materials. Then when 41 days of 'downtime' have been completed, please tell me when it is ready.

The CRB crafting rules seem broken. I encountered a similar problem with a Witch I'm playing in a face-to-face game. She could use Brew Potion feat to craft a CLW potion in a day but a mundane alchemical item like antitoxin would take weeks of work. Having the craft checks represent days rather than weeks seems like a fair way of fixing it and bringing mundane crafting more in line with magical item creation.

So an out of game explaination if needed. If I go ahead with the attack while Elaina remains in melee, I'll have to add the penalty to ranged attacks into melee without precise shot. That would take the attack roll down below 10, surely a miss. On a miss an adjacent square is hit instead. Even if not hers, Elaina would probably take splash damage.

As tasty as the idea of fragging Elaina, and the boost it would give Mimi's popularity, might be, I won't do that. :)

Heads up:

I'm in the National Guard, field artillery. Because of a 'soldier shortage', I have apparently 'volunteered' for extra duty. As such I'll be away for training from May 22nd to June 13th. I know from experience that for roughly 1 week of that time I'll have no internet connection (being in the desert tends to do that). That said, I'll do all I can to remain as active as possible.
