Round 4/5 - the bold may post
Conditions: Bless (end round 13)
Tonkk - 97 dmg;
Doodle - dmg; 1 Wis dmg; 3 Con dmg; Mirror Image (4); poisoned: on your turn Fort save needed (1/?);
Red - 113 dmg; Acid bonus damage (1/3);
Electra - dmg;
small air elemental - dmg; whirlwind form;
Merisiel - dmg;
Jair - dmg;
Lasaraleen - dmg;
Merisiel tumbles past the golem, avoiding any potential attack of opportunity and grabs ahold of the adamantine scimitar.
With some assistance from the gods, Tonkk angrily smashes the golem twice! Smashing it hard enough that it shatters into many many pieces. Good use of your reroll, and thank goodness for Bless. Its AC was 26.
Combat Over! Pathfinders are victorious! (Whew - you had me worried)
Since the golem was defeated before Lasaraleen cast CSW, I'll assume that she did not cast and Tonkk has not been healed, since I assume you would prefer to heal with less expensive means.
We'll stay in initiative for now because Doodle is still poisoned.
Doodle you are up! (And anyone else who has any ways of assisting vs poison).
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
Doodle grabs her vial of antitoxin and drinks it down.
Fort save with antitoxin 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 1 + 5 = 25
Lasaraleen |
"Hooray!."
Lasaraleen will assess the injured.
"I cannot stop the poison but can cure it or reduce it."
She offers an antitoxin and or lesser restoration as well as use a wand on Tonkk if he wants to roll it.
She will obtain her scimitar back from Merisel.
GM Abraham |
Out of initiative - just for record keeping
Conditions:
Tonkk - 97 dmg;
Doodle - dmg; 1 Wis dmg; 3 Con dmg; Mirror Image (4);
Electra - dmg;
small air elemental - dmg; whirlwind form;
Merisiel - dmg;
Jair - dmg;
Lasaraleen - dmg;
Doodle drinks her antitoxin and, for the moment, does not feel the poison making her worse. However, she is not fully cured yet!
Fort Save #2, Con dmg; antitoxin: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 + 5 = 31
But, after a moment, she feels immeasurably better. Cured, even! This was a 2 consecutive saves poison
We are out of initiative - feel free to heal yourselves or do anything else you wish now.
Looking around the room, you see:
The gold rune on the platform is the Jistkan symbol for “travel,”
The walls are covered in small, tight-fitting ceramic tiles creating an intricate mosaic. Many of the wall tiles in the room are clustered together into stylized faces. Twenty-five sapphires are embedded in the walls here, interspersed among the tiles.
The wall around the platform is an exception to the mosaic design, bearing three large, clear, triangular quartz tiles, each of which has a single descriptive rune.
These tiles read “Left ,” “Middle,” and “Right.”
In the southwestern corner of the room you see a ring and a periapt that seem to have been left behind by some long-forgotten person.
Jair Whisper |
Having casts comprehend languages Jair is able to translate what's written.
Look, these rune mean "Travel" then "Left", "Middle" and "Right"
Know. (arcana): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28
Look! The platform is a magical transportation system, perhaps somewhat akin to dimension door. However, it currently appears to be inactive. Someone with a good intellect or able to fools object could use it.
Spellcraft DC20 (ring): 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 12
Spellcraft DC20 (periapt): 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 25
Examining the ring and the periapt she's able to tell that the latter is a periapt of health.
Seems a good one to have. If someone want it?
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
”Ooo, that felt awful. That antitoxin is worth its weight in gold! Hopefully we don’t find anything else like that in this place,” Doodle complains, rubbing the lump on her head.
Lasaraleen |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
On Doodle, Lasaraleen calls forth the power of the dawn to restore her health

Lasaraleen - dmg;
Jair makes good progress identifying some of the room's curious features.
Lasaraleen helps restore Doodle's health.
The summoned air elemental departs from this plane (Unless you have some sort of ability that prolongs its duration)
Tonkk, on reflection, just use 2 charges for 11 points of healing - it will save time.
So what do you all want to do? There is a door to the west, a window to the east, and two windows to the south, in addition to all the features of the room previously mentioned.
Lasaraleen |
Tonkk, did you have a wand and back to full?
I am not a tracker. I hope there are no more of those dreadful golems. I was worried some of us might be meeting the Dawnflower on her plane.
Lasaraleen will cast freedom of movement on herself before moving to the next door and looking for traps or unusual stuff.

Electra - dmg;
Merisiel - dmg;
Jair - dmg;
Lasaraleen - dmg; Freedom of Movement (80 min)
Lasaraleen opens the door to the next room. (Map updated) Inlaid in the dark granite wall on the west side of this room is a large square indentation. Beneath it lie four rectangular pieces engraved with runes, each radiating a soft light: brown stone, blue metal, red crystal, and white ivory. The square indentation is 2 feet on a side, and each of the four rectangular pieces is 2 feet wide, 6 inches high, and an inch thick.
There is also some writing carved into the indentation:
It reads “At the dawn of time, the fires burned until rain quenched their fury down into solid stone, which has always gazed upon the sky above in envy. Demonstrate obedience to the ancient elemental ordering.”
Lasaraleen |
Lasarleen looks into the next room, seeing the writing
Hey, what's this?
linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 wow, so close!
Jair Whisper |
Know. (arcana): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20
Looking at the device, Jair realizes that the indentation is a power source for the complex and the colored rectangles activate it.
Friends, this machinery is how we will be able to activate the platform!
Still under comprehend languages she translates the runes to her comrades.
The runes says "At the dawn of time, the fires burned until rain quenched their fury down into solid stone, which has always gazed upon the sky above in envy. Demonstrate obedience to the ancient elemental ordering".
Thinking at the words, she adds Oh! May be if we push the rectangle in a good order we will activate the power? I suppose that the colors represent the four elements and we need to push them in the right order. Fire, Water, Stone and Air if I read the command phrase correctly so in color I will say we start pushing Red, Blue, Brown and White, what do you think?
Electra Firemind |

Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
”That sounds like as good a plan as any. Does anyone want to be the person who tests the theory?”
If no one steps up, Doodle will volunteer to try the suggested order that Jair proposed.
Merisiel elf rogue |
Merisiel hands the scimitar back to Lasaraleen.
"Thanks but we didn't need it."
- - -
"Let me check it out first!"
She moves to the area and checks the platform out for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
GM Abraham |
Merisiel inspects the area for traps but finds none.
Doodle tries inserting the rectangles into the indentation in the following order:
Red
Blue
Brown
White
Nothing happens.
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
”Maybe air and water’s colors should be reversed?”.
She pushes red, white, brown and then blue in that order.
And the room explodes!
GM Abraham |
Doodle tries:
Red, White, Brown, Blue
Nothing happens.
Jair tries:
Blue, Brown, White, Red
Nothing happens.
GM Abraham |
Merisiel looks at the platform.
is there a way to use disable device?
"Hmmm.."
Well, the device doesn't appear to be active right now, so perhaps you need to find a way to enable device... :-)
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
If the device is magical, Doodle closes her eyes and tries to activate it blindly.
UMD 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Lasaraleen |
Maybe there is a key or something to help activate beyond these other doors?
While the group inspects the device, she checks the other doors for traps.
T10: 10 + 16 = 26 vs Doors (not opening yet)
If nothing is found, she will cast detect magic and scan for auras in the room(s).
GM Abraham |
Doodle is unable to activate the device. She senses that it is almost as if it is powered off.
Lasaraleen examines the other doors and realizes that they are windows. When she looks out the windows to the south she sees two structures that appear to be floating in the air above an enormous chasm. The one directly ahead of her is somewhat above her level and she can only see its underside, so she can't really make out much about it. Off to her left, she can see a second, similar sized structure. This one is closer to her level, so she can see it from the side. However, its crenellated walls prevent her from seeing what, if anything, is there.
When she casts detect magic, she notices that the spell seems to work again (recall that Electra earlier had found that her divination magic appeared not to function at all). Besides the ring and the periapt in the first room, the indentation and the four rectangles in the second room all radiate faint magic.
Electra Firemind |
Electra shrugs and replies. "Maybe we have to fill the indentation first, with a power source!"
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
Doodle nodded. That made good sense, after all. ”Well, where to next, then” she said, looking around at the place.
Lasaraleen |
Was anything inside the golem or a secret compartment it was guarding? What of this blue platform in the corner?
GM Abraham |
The colored rectangles look as though they will fit perfectly inside the indentation, one on top of another. The order in which they are stacked is up to you.
As you have already translated, the writing inside the indentation reads "At the dawn of time, the fires burned until rain quenched their fury down into solid stone, which has always gazed upon the sky above in envy. Demonstrate obedience to the ancient elemental ordering.”
Electra Firemind |
Electra takes the rectangles and places the red down first, then the blue,then white lastely brown.
GM Abraham |
Merisiel tries (from top to bottom):
Red/Blue/White/Brown
Electra tries:
Brown/White/Blue/Red
Nothing happens.
Lasaraleen |
Wait, the colors...they seem to be somehow tied to the four elements or elementals. Do we need to try some fire or water or something? Lasaraleen ponders as she considers summoning a small elemental.
I will try a bolt of fire on the red one and see if it does anything. Hopefully it will not break it. It is not very hot.
Not sure if she needs to roll an attack - or if she can just pick up the red and put the bolt directly to it.
fire bolt: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 on red?
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
While the others are trying magic, Doodle tries another variance of lining up the colors. This time, she tries white, blue, Red, Brown, to see if that does anything.
GM Abraham |
When the rectangles are arranged, from top to bottom, air-water-fire-earth, Doodle feels that they click together in a satisfying way. Then, when Lasaraleen applies fire to the red rectangle the room suddenly glows with what appears to be the light of wall-mounted torches, although you notice that none of them give off any heat. You can also see through the open doorway that the same has happened in the room that you were just in.
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
Doodle claps her hands together with glee at helping the group crack the code. ”I can cast Ray of Frost. I wonder if that will be close enough? If that doesn’t work, I could try Grease...it’s fluid, I suppose.”
GM Abraham |
When Tonkk pours water on the blue stone those of you with keen ears hear the burbling of water begin somewhere in the distance.
Lasaraleen |
I think we are on to something. We must get ready to do...well, something. I am not sure. Lasaraleen looks on with glee.
Electra Firemind |
Electra will fan some water on the air one.
