Lorelendral Teklet |
no, getting the one closest to me is fine
Ignatius Van Hjorder |
Hey, sorry. I've been travelling all day and then got sucked into watching that Scientology documentary on HBO.
Ignatius, seeing that things have now started to get violent, again curses himself for not hiding his holy symbol of Iomedae. Left without a weapon, armor or a means of reaching out to Iomedae in any meaningful way he decides that he must improvise.
"Freedom!" He shouts, in an effort to confuse things. He then breaks off a leg from one of the beds and rushes to Eadie's side.
GM Aarvid |
The gnoll leader yells in a feral roar and rushes to the kennel gates.
Johendar and Ernest .
Ernest Kalthet |
What is my Line of Sight status concerning the not-yet-destroyed door? I would presume standard "can't see through it" until it's destroyed, but I figured I'd ask.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Ernest Kalthet |
Expecting the door to be gone next round, Ernest begins making chimp noises and dancing in a small circle! The dance generates circles at his feet that are obvious signs of spellcasting!
Begin 1-Round cast of Mad Monkeys. Confirmed to need no material component; just Verbal and Somatic (since I'm not divine.) They can understand my commands, so I'm going to ensure no actual people are harmed in the duration of this spell.

Johendar Celestrum |
Johender begins humming a little sea shanty, slowing breaking out into verse, as he moves up behind Eadie.
"So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley
Way, hey, bully in the alley
So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley
Bully down in Shinbone Al
Oh, Sally is the girl down in our alley
Now, Sally is the gal that I spliced nearly
So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley
So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley
I'll leave my Sal to go a-sailin'
I'll leave my gal and go a-whalin'
So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley
So help me Bob, I'm bully in the alley"
Inspire: +1/+1
Eadie Navhelan |
Eadie gives Johendar a dirty look. He spliced a girl? That doesn’t sound very nice. Then she thinks about it. Ohhhhhhhhhhh …
The young slave shakes her head at Ernest’s antics. “August, is there a bucket of water lying around out there? We need to cool down Ernest. He’s pining for Schooner something fierce.”
August Autumnwind |
I'm a wee bit busy at the moment, my liege! Umm, I mean, settle down in there, slave girl... umm, 'r else!
GM Aarvid |
Ernest summons a group of monkeys and Johendar sings like the group of Monkeys writing poetry.
=== Round 2 ===
14+Hyenas
14+Gnolls
14-August
12-Eadie
11-Ignatius
11-Lore <--- prone
10-Gnoll leader
7-Johendar <--- inspiring +1/+1
3-Ernest <--- monkey man
The injured hyena looks down with malice in its multiple eyes gleaming at the small creature that just fried it. The large slash caused by August looks like it is closing on its own.
On prone Lore bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 for dmg: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
But Sarenrae smiles upon her small follower.
Not as lucky is August facing the fresh one. It bites hard on the dwarf.
On August bite, flank: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 2 = 32 for dmg: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
and trip trip,flank: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 2 = 19 vs CMD
But still unable to haul down the dwarf.
GM Aarvid |
Hargur steps into the room behind the standing Hyena, and cracks his jagged whip at August, over the hound. Just barely ably to hit the dwarf in the neck with the barbed end.
"I never liked the looks of your stubby legs! I knew you were no good." He jeers.
Hargur scorpion whip, cover: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 14 - 4 = 21 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Vangru moves in behind his mate "Yap yap, stubby legs!" ready with his whip as well.
14-August (26/59)
12-Eadie
11-Ignatius
11-Lore <--- prone (41/57)
Lorelendral Teklet |
just curious - any chance my burning hands from earlier could have done some damage to that door when it hit the hyena too ?
GM Aarvid |
Yes, it probably would have actually. I will rule the door burns and with that and the damage by Eadie, it is charred and falling apart on one side.
Eadie Navhelan |
Eadie sticks her head through the broken doorway [Jack in …] “Here’s Eaaadie!” [/The Shining] before taking a 5' step over the threshold, falchion held high.
She eyes the wounded hyenadon harassing Lore. “I’m more of a cat person.”
falchion + PA + FF + sea shanty: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 1 = 25
damage + sea shanty: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 14 + 1 = 20
Iterative + PA + sea shanty: 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 2 + 1 = 19
damage + sea shanty: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2) + 14 + 1 = 18
Love the 'monkeys on deck'
August Autumnwind |
With a 21 the whip hits me as well. HP 14/59
August tries to take down the critter that bit him!
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 for Damage: 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (5, 6) + 19 = 30Confirm?: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 1 = 21 for Damage: 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (2, 3) + 19 = 24
If it falls, August will take a 5' step into its place in an attempt to block the gnolls from entering the room.
GM Aarvid |
August cleaves into the hyena's skull and it drops without so much as a twitch. As the dwarf steps closer to the doorway, Vangru's ready with his whip and snaps it down towards August.
scorpion whip, cover: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 14 - 4 = 15 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 miss
Eadie likewise slashes deep into the neck of the one near Lore and it drops as well You still have a move action
Ignatius Van Hjorder |
Ignatius runs to the chest and opens it, hoping to quickly find his sword.
I'm guessing it will be a move to open the chest, or maybe a standard.
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
I believe that, if its like a Pathfinder Pouch, you'd have to switch content modes to Magic put it in the Magic compartment (though I don't know which side you kept it in.)
Snouts cowers indefinitely, avoiding looking delicious.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Eadie Navhelan |
Eadie takes offense at the gnoll's jibes at August. “Oh yeah, Hargur? Yo’ so stinky, I bet your mother hadta tie a sausage round your neck to get Vangru to play with you.”
She moves 30’ into the kennels.
Lorelendral Teklet |
Lore stands up and brushes off the dirt of the kennels and turns to face the remaining gnolls... she grimaces at the sight of them, but makes the assumption that Eadie and the others will make short work of them, and instead touches August casting Cure serious wounds.
csw: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (8, 2, 2) + 5 = 17
that was a horrible roll! two 2s? sheesh
GM Aarvid |
Eadie completes her movement across the circular chamber, falchion in hand.
Ignatius is able to stride out of the slave pen and opens the chest after speaking the secret word. All of the party items are visible within, topped by his apprehended holy symbol.
Moved to the chest and move/action to activate and open it.
Meanwhile, Lore stands up from the thrashing she took and touches August for some divine healing he desperately needs.
The dwarf's bite mark closes somewhat and his color returns.
The larger of the gnolls steps up to August.
"You! YOUUUU KILLED MY PETS! FARUG KILL YOU NOW! RRRRRRAAARR!"
Obviously some anger management courses would help him at this point
He unloads with frothing fury on August.
battle axe, rage, pa: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 15 - 2 = 17 for dmg: 1d12 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 6 = 25 miss
battle axe, rage, pa: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 2 = 13 for dmg: 1d12 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 6 = 20 miss
He slams his axe down hard on either side of August, but the dwarf dodges both massive blows. Sarenrae's blessing is strong today :-)
Unfortunately, Farug is so angry he bends over and just bites the dwarf on the shoulder.
bite, rage, pa: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25 for dmg: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9 hit
Johendar Celestrum |
Continuing to sing his shanty, Johendar darts out of the cell, moving toward the chest. Looking at the slavers, he calls on his celestial heritage, filling the air with glitter around the gnolls.
Glitterdust DC 15. Should be able to catch all three and avoid Argust.
GM Aarvid |
Johendar continues his singing while showering the burly gnolls with glittery light.
Hargur will: 1d20 ⇒ 17 pass
Vangru will: 1d20 ⇒ 4 fail
Farug will: 1d20 ⇒ 12 pass
Hargur and Farug seem to be more resolute, while Vangru is blinded by the light. "Hargur, where you go?"
Eadie Navhelan |
Eadie’s voice is loud and shrill. By coincidence she may sound something like Ernest’s Chelaxian mother when she’s a little overwrought.
“ERNEST! DO SOMETHING!!!”
Ernest Kalthet |
"Aah - right away ma'am!" Ernest nearly falls over out of fright, having finished his spell, eked a mass of monkeys into existence, and silently reestablishes his fear in the opposite gender.
Chimps pour out from a point in space at which he gestures, avoiding damaging anything but the hyena-like people! They engulf the front two foes, since I think the other is too far for a 10ft swarm.
They do provoke from movement (I think that isn't removed in Swarm Traits) but take half-damage from weapon attacks. They have 22hp, for the GM's convenience.
On the plus side, they do 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 points of damage, attempt to steal (or disarm) something shiny with the rolls below and force a DC 14 Fort save vs Distraction (with the additional effect of deafening for a minute if they fail.)
left target steal/disarm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
right target steal/disarm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Meanwhile, Ernest double-moves closer to his captured piggy. Can't edit map from mobile, but I think I covered all my general movements/actions.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Aarvid |
The swarm of monkeys move around the party, crawling and screeching all over the first two gnolls.
Farug battle axe, rage, pa, AOO: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 15 - 2 = 32 for dmg: 1d12 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 6 = 21
Hargur scorpion whip, AOO: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Monkeys take 10+6 = 16 damage (fortunately they cannot be critted)
fort vs howls: 3d20 ⇒ (14, 11, 12) = 37 all three ignore the screeching as they are used to hyena howls apparently.
The three gnolls swing wildly trying to fend off the litter creatures, nearly killing all of them, but there are too many!
"Kill them all! Get them off of me! Oh that tickles! Hey that's my whip you chimp!"
However Farug (left) and Hargur (right) both take damage as the monkeys swarm over them. The last few monkeys both grab their weapons and pull them down to the ground.
GM Aarvid |
Hargur yells "Vangru, kill those monkeys so we can get our weapons back!" (delays)
Vangru scorpion whip: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
miss: 1d100 ⇒ 54 miss 1-50
Easily killing the last of the few remaining monkeys, but his second swing goes wild trying to hit August.
Vangru scorpion whip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
miss: 1d100 ⇒ 37 miss 1-50
Hargur steps back and picks up his whip and swings at August
Vangru scorpion whip: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
"You and your monkeys are going to be fried up for dinner, dwarf! Especially that loud slavergirl in the back"
1d20 ⇒ 6 Vangru vs blind
August is slashed across the cheek by the barbed whip.
14-August
12-Eadie
11-Ignatius
11-Lore
GM Aarvid |
Farug is still disarmed, his axe in the pile of dead monkeys.
Vangru still apparently blind - which I forgot and had to go back and re-apply misses :-(
Lorelendral Teklet |
Lore, seeing her healing on August almost wiped out, moves back so the gnolls are not in range of her channel and excluding hyenas in case they are just unconscious channels for...
channel: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) = 8
Eadie Navhelan |
“I think it’s important we focus fire. The biggest one looks good.”
Eadie takes a 5’ step and lunges at Farug with her falchion.
falchion + PA + FF + Joh: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 1 = 14 <-- re-rolled into a possible crit
damage + Joh: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3) + 14 + 1 = 22
Iterative + PA + Joh: 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 + 1 = 24
damage + Joh: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 14 + 1 = 20
Crit?: 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 2 + 1 = 14
damage + Joh: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 14 + 1 = 18
Probably not ... Going to Hardcopy Portfolio reroll the first attack, GM Aarvid.
falchion + PA + FF + Joh: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 1 = 32
crit?: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 1 = 18
Dunno ... Possible crit damage + Joh: 2d4 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 14 + 1 = 23
AC=11
So the re-rolled primary attack was 32 to hit for 22 dmg
The iterative was 24 to hit for 20 dmg
If the iterative crit confirmed that’s 18 dmg
If the re-rolled primary crit confirmed that’s 23 damage
GM Aarvid |
Eadie steps up and lunges at Farug as he stands looking for his axe.
Her first slash looks incredibly clumbsy, so much so, it catches him off guard and slashes him across the neck, drawing blood.
The second cut, looks more controlled but does not quite have the same effect, but still hurts him plenty.
"Haarrrrh!"
(22+23)+20 (assuming that +2 STR belt etc not included) primary confirmed, just barely
Gima yells out from the pen doorway, "You go girl, Eadie!"
Lore calls upon healing power of her divine cause, curing August and herself of some injuries.
Eadie Navhelan |
Eadie looks blankly at the unmasked Bellflower operative. “Err … no, Gima. I’m going to stay here for a bit.”
August Autumnwind |
August grunts after being hit by the whip and then steps into the doorway and attacks Farug!
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 for Damage: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (1, 2) + 17 = 20
His blade then continues toward Hargur!
Cleave: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 for Damage: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (5, 2) + 17 = 24
AC 19, HP 20/59
Ignatius Van Hjorder |
Ignatius rushes to August's side with his holy symbol and blesses the dwarf with divine favor.
+1 to attack and damage.
GM Aarvid |
August steps up and chops Farug. The gnoll drops to the ground with a gurgle, robbed of his chance to enact revenge on Eadie.
Hargur dodges the blade as he watches his leader fall.
"Hooray! Did you see that? They killed Farug!" as a cheer is heard from the other slaves peering out of the pen.
Ignatius imparts some divine inspiration on the dwarf.
7-Johendar <--- inspiring +1/+1
3-Ernest <---
Ernest Kalthet |
The other familiar can come and go from the cage by being smaller if I recall correctly, yes? You might want to have him help you equip some items you don't use actively, Joh (though you're at spell component pouch stage already.)
Snouts steps (as a move action; not a 5') adjacent to the bars and readies to move to the chest to acquire the Butter Bag! His fat snout, shoved through the bars, is more than enough contact space to Shift (the Teleportation school power) the both of them 5' south! More importantly making Snouts a cage-free animal! He moves next to the chest!
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Aarvid |
Yes, the cages are not really locked per se, just barred for normal livestock. Smarter animals can probably work the latch on their own.
Ernest Kalthet |
Oh, well then an action redaction if I can (assuming Snouts and his "smarter than the dumbest of Pathfinders" Int of 8 can escape on his own. He shares skill ranks, so he does have Disable Device.) His biggest drawback is are his cute and useless pig arms.
Ernest, if Snouts can free himself, just moves to the chest and grab a spell component pouch while the porker pushes at the latch.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Aarvid |
Yep, no problem Snouts getting out on his own.
The Swine and Primate escape confinement, leaving their chess game for later.
Ernest moves to the open chest and draws out his spell component bag.
Vangru howls. "Hargur, I cannot see. What happened?"
Hargur yells back "The slave rats just killed Fagur! They are fakes! Whip them you oaf!"
Johendar?
Johendar Celestrum |
That's awesome, My kids and I love Gravity Falls.
Johender calls Schooner over as he reaches down and grabs his bow and quiver, then fires at gnoll in front of August.
Attack, PBS, Inspire: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 1 + 1 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
Eadie Navhelan |
Ah, I wondered what the 'chess board' was. Very cool.
@Iggy Have you moved yourself on the map? Is the spell you cast on August a touch spell?
I don't want to move you because of the circumstances, but your position may affect whether I can lunge and full attack or move and take a single attack next round.
Ignatius Van Hjorder |
Sorry, I can't move on the map at the moment. Yes, I need to move next to August to cast divine favor. Can you move me so that between August and Lore?
GM Aarvid |
Johendar fires an arrow, hitting Hargur in his left arm, eliciting a howl from the gnoll.
"Blast you! I will deal with you next slave, right after I finish this dwarf-filth. Here Vangru,
I made you room to slay the dwarf so I can get to the loud mouths in the back. Swing this way."
Hargur steps over, leaving a space for Vangru to swing at August.
scorpion whip: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
miss: 1d100 ⇒ 6 1-50miss
scorpion whip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
miss: 1d100 ⇒ 39 1-50miss
Vangru swings wildly and almost connects but in the wrong space.
will save vs blind: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Hargur shouts again "NO! More to the right, you fool! Oh nevermind, I will do it."
He swings at August as well, slashing him once.
scorpion whip: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
scorpion whip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 for dmg: 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Lorelendral Teklet |
Lore moves so she can clearly see between the two gnolls and carefully aims her spell to go off just 15' behind them (so they are in the last 20' of the fireball and it misses Auggie)
fireball damage, reflex save for half dc 16: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 5, 4, 6) = 26
When she sees the massive fireball go off, having finished casting, she claps her hands with glee... and says softly... "Ooooh, pretty!
(the spell is also disrupting so if there's anyone who's caught in it who wants to cast a spell, the concentration dc for 1 round is 19)
GM Aarvid |
Btw Vangru no longer appears blinded. Once actions are posted, i will apply them in init order (or if people want to delay etc, since you are pretty much in group init at this point) .
August Autumnwind |
Because I used Cleave that second one hits and August goes down to -6 HP.
Death Save: 1d20 + 4 - 6 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 6 = 13 I think I did that right.
