Oh, a reminder - the chronicle for this module is Tier 5-7 so any character within that level range will be acceptable :)
*edit* There are some investigative aspects to this module and plenty of places for great roleplay and interactions with the peoples and creatures within. It also features a fair bit of outdoor and dungeony aspects. Characters that really shine in urban locales (like vigilantes) might feel a bit like fish out of water in this adventure but overall there should be plenty of ways for practically any class to contribute and have fun.
Lawrence Smith 2 |
I have several PCs levels 5-7.
Gitano Frallino, a human bard (archaeologist) 3/investigator (sleuth) 1/swashbuckler (inspired blade) 1.
Skye, Shaman of the Lyrune-Quah, human (Jadwiga) shaman 5.
Conal Angus McKieg, dwarf warpriest of Yuelral 5.
My preference would be to play one of those three. Love them all.
"Princess" Tiffany |
Tiffany here will, like, totally be along for the ride.
Looks like we could use a martial, and I'm partial to one Gitano Frallino.
GM Ladile |
Having played with and GMed for Skye in the past, he's quite the entertaining character! I also have a uh...7th? level Nature shaman in a Shattered Star game and she's been lots of fun to play; they can be quite flexible once they start getting access to Wandering Spirit and Wandering Hex.
That said...alchemist, double sorcerers, a bard, and a druid? Gitano or Conal might prove slightly better fits in terms of party balance if that's something you guys care about. On the other hand, summons are always an option if you need extra bodies to eat some hits for you!
Luurg |
Just for people who haven't played with Luurg before... he's not your standard 'alchemist'. He's built to be melee and sturdy vs a bomb tosser or feral mutagen freak. He's strength and con based with survival talents and feats. He also fancies himself a med'cin man and woodsman.
Sheela is a summoning/mind messing sorceress who likes to party and flirt.
Tiffany is a net tossing frog druid that likes sparkly bits and snooobery.
I have not played with the other characters mentioned, although I think maybe Gitano back when he was just a wee laddy on another character.
Luurg |
So long as he isn't cursed to avoid using magic/extracts to buff himself he does fine in that case.
I didn't want to make it sound like I didn't want to play with a Dwarven tank, just wanted it to be known that Luurg was a front line type of character. Be sure to play whichever you prefer.
Luurg isn't an offensive power house, unless he's buffed to the gills, at least not until he gets through this module and gets a new oversized axe.
Adyr Al'Abissi |
Adyr is a fair hand in a fight! The Legion trains its soldiers well.
GM Ladile |
Opening post is up! Feel free to jump in at your leisure once everyone is set on which character they'll be playing :)

This is where I solicit some information from each of you that I'll use to prepare your chronicles at the end of the adventure as well as when I'm reporting the game on the website! I'll need the following information:

If you want to wait on making Day Job rolls until the end, that's also fine. If you're aiming to tick off any boxes on Faction Journal cards, ask me about them at the conclusion of the scenario and I'll be happy to let you know if anything qualifies and make a note of it on your chronicle if you like!

Hey folks, I wanted to check in and say that I'm sick/have been sick. While I'm definitely feeling better than I did, I still seem to have a lot of general malaise and mental fatigue happening + I work the next three nights in a row starting tonight (Saturday). Given the circumstances I'm just going to take the next few days off from PbP; I should be back in action by Tuesday evening at the latest.
Adyr Al'Abissi |
Don't worry in the slightest. As for myself, I am snowed-in and won`t be able to leave the house until this afternoon. Great for reading and catching up on a nap or two!
McKieg |
Posting this in a couple of different places, so apologies if you've already seen it.
If you'd like to join my table of #10-08 What Prestige is Worth (Tiers 7-11)?
The sign-up document is here.
Outpost 2 runs from March 11 to May 6.

Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Hey guys,
I have had a death in my family so posting for me will be sporadic for a while. Please bot Wadi as needed.
I will let you know when I am back posting full time.
GM Ladile |
My condolences, Eric. Take all the time that you need and don't worry about PbP; it'll be here when you feel up to returning.
______________
For the game in general, I'm feeling much better now aside from some congestion and sinus pressure and ready to get things moving again. Thank you for your patience!
McKieg |
Condolences, Eric. Sorry for your loss.
GM Ladile |
Just a note that I've got an early day tomorrow which necessitates going to bed much earlier than I normally do. Depending on how tired I am when I get home from work, updates will either happen tomorrow in the early evening or possibly in the wee hours Thursday morning!
GM Ladile |
I'm home from Save vs. Hunger but my brain is a bit fried from con drag so I'll resume updates tomorrow!
Adyr Al'Abissi |
Hey everyone, I am really sorry. For some reason I stopped getting 'campaign update notices'. Back in... now.
Luurg |
I'll be traveling all day Monday and on vacation all next week. After Monday I should be able to get a post in per day, but if I'm holding things up then feel free to bot me.
McKieg |
Where are we on the village map? A1?
GM Ladile |
Made some notes on the map to hopefully make it a little clearer as to your current position.
If it helps, this section is a bit on the sandboxy side - you have four 'primary' locations that Tiffany noted from the air (docks, lighthouse, ruined keelboat, shrine) but there are also additional, smaller locations and encounters scattered throughout the town that you may or may not run across.
GM Ladile |
I'm going to be out and about for the next couple of hours at a minimum and for most of the afternoon/evening at the most but I will get you guys moved along to the Ruined Wharf once I have a chance to update!
GM Ladile |
Hey folks, I know a couple of you are busy for the next few days and while I don't have any holiday plans I will be working the next four nights starting tomorrow night.
So I'll update as I'm able with work but no rush if you've got better things to do than sit inside and post this weekend :)
GM Ladile |
Hey folks, I'll be heading out of town to DieCon19 and won't return until sometime late Sunday night/early Monday morning. I likely won't have a ton of free time for posting so please feel free to bot me as necessary :)
And no, you do not get to bot me if I'm your GM :P
Sheela Kolphan |
And then all of the PCs killed the monsters and fell into a huge treasure chest full of gold and-
awww I can't bot the GM.
As a side note, tomorrow I will be going on vacation in Washington DC. The internet should be good but if I don't post regularly, you know why.
Adyr Al'Abissi |
Will be out of town on Friday night... will post before I leave and as soon as I get back on Saturday evening.
Adyr Al'Abissi |
Looks like the website will be down on Sunday.

Okay, so there's a lot going on in this encounter and there seems to be some confusion about map placement and what's going on, exactly. This encounter is actually suggested to be run as a cinematic encounter (and thus has no map provided) but has several things occurring within it that are supposed to occur on certain initiative counts. In addition to all of that, this is also your GM's first time running something that could be considered a sort of '3D' encounter - so please bear with me :)
On the Map
This is a map that I pulled off the internet, being the best one I could find that fit my purposes. The details on this map are not exact. The map is largely here to give everyone an idea of where everyone and everything is.
Lower Level
This level is, currently, entirely flooded with water all the way up to the landing of the second level. The aquatic terrain hasn't really come into play though as both Luurg and Tiffany have the means to maneuver and breathe underwater without any issues.
Red Tentacle was the one that entered the lighthouse from this level, breaking through the front door and snaking up the stairwell past Luurg and Tiffany. This is the one that Luurg attempted to stab and missed and that McKieg subsequently severed with his axe.
Second Level
This is where the majority of the party is as well as part of the remaining Blackcove villagers. Normally this entire level would be a nightmare because of the panicked crowd but since several of you were very quick to initially calm them and start herding them upstairs, I ruled that most of them are now freaking out up on the top of the lighthouse and are not in the way of those of you on the second level.
There are four windows here on this level, one for each cardinal direction. You had two Tentacles burst in through the eastern and western windows and grab villagers. Adyr shot Green with his bow from his position on the top of the lighthouse and since McKieg finished off Red, which Tiffany was initially targeting, I decided to be merciful and shift her action to the already-injured Green Tentacle which finished it off.
Sadly, Purple Tentacle managed to get away with the villager it had hold of.
Third (Top) Level
Most of the villagers are currently up here with nowhere to go. Adyr is also up here but as he's not doing too much moving around he's currently not subject to being tripped up by the crowd. From his position he can see over the railing, which allowed him to target one of the tentacles from above with his bow.
______________
Hopefully all of the above helps to clear things up a little bit. That said, if the map is proving to be too confusing I'm happy to ditch the map and switch us to purely theater of the mind if that would be preferable to everyone.
If you'd all rather keep the map then I'll try and do what I can to label things more clearly; if you need me to clearly mark where the stairs are on each section and other details, please let me know and I will do so.
I won't lie, I think this is my favorite encounter/section of the entire module and I want to do everything I can to make sure all of you enjoy it (even if your characters aren't!) too.
