Grumblejack smashes the screaming guard in the face, breaking her nose and jaw in a shower of blood and teeth.

Dav, you're up. You all have an ogre now, kind of! Aella won't have to do all the smashing on the way out.

He fought defensively, giving ground only in the direction of the flotilla of ships which the invading group used to travel to Isle Sacred-To-Frey."

The female guard keeps screaming for help, while Jasper curses at Aella's dogged pursuit and retreats as quickly as he can without leaving himself open.

As Jasper reaches the top of the stairs, he nearly runs into another guard coming up the stairs, a tall thin man dressed in the same chain shirt and carrying the same sword, club and shield Jasper carries. He has his shield and club out.

Grumblejack tries to smash the guard again.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Jasper takes a withdraw action to avoid taking an AOO from retreating. The female guard takes a total defense action. The new guard is down a few steps, so if he gets attacked, it will be at +1 to hit (I think Aella would have to charge, so that would be +4 from elevation, bardic performance and charging if she decides to go that route.)

Elaine, Aella, and Than are all up.

Also, I'm liking the icelandic saga performances Dave. There actually is a viking-ish kingdom northeast of here (Talingarde is very vaguely based on England). It may come up in the future.

Elaine follows Aella and charges the bomb she is holding. She aims for the new guard, and throws.

Elaine's bomb is thrown true, straight at the new guard's head. The guard gets up his shield to block the bomb from hitting his face, but that doesn't save him from the resulting inferno.

Jasper is caught within the explosion, and collapses to the ground at the top of the stairs.

Roll to Stabilize:: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

A note, since in retrospect, I realize my description is somewhat vague. Jasper is knocked out, the other guard takes 6 fire damage and is still up. Aella and Than are up, before we wrap back around to Dav.

Aella will gleefully charge the new guard and attack.

Than will swiftly move towards the exit of the prison room, making sure he can keep Aella in view.

Aella kicks the guard square in the face before he can recover from the explosion, knocking him out cold.

You're at +1 damage from the Inspire Courage as well, so its 8. Either would have been enough in this case though.

She doesn't look like she's going to care or do anything if you move past her. She is too busy right now trying to avoid being pulped by Grumblejack to care what you do as long as it isn't trying to stab her. (You can't take AOOs if you take a total defense action, which is what she is currently doing).

Aella can see there is an approximately 40 foot long room lit by torchlight down the stairs. The parts she can see appear to be empty.

So, Roll20 lets me set player vision to a new map, and it lets me split the party so different players see different maps, but that second feature works via drag and dropping player icons. I'm going to poke the Roll20 API to see if they exposed the ability to move a single player's map view there. I might need to either toggle the map view for everyone at once or have people log in simultaneously with me to move you between maps.

Ok! I ended up making a new map with the entire prison in a single image, and just uncovered the section you can see using fog of war. You're all in the far right, mid point of the map right now. The stairs lead down to a level that is represented slightly left of the center and 20ish squares from the bottom of the map.

"Than, you want some armor?" Aella will holler back to her brother. "Think this guys would fit you!

For time considerations, note that chain shirts are 5 rounds to take off someone and 10 rounds to put on properly, 5 rounds to don hastily (-1 to AC). Two people can help with the taking off to do it in 2 rounds instead of 5.

Dav moves out of the cell, past the guarding guard. Taking an additional move action as my standard action. He sums up the epic saga, since there doesn't seem to be anyone to fight. 'The story of the storm, and the things it will bring, must wait for another time. It will be a powerful tale of heroism, survival, and flensing.'

The guard contorts herself to the side, so Grumblejack's fist glaces off her armor.

"For the love of Mitra MAKE HIM STOP! SOMEBODY HELP ME! AAAAAHHHHH!"

Guard takes a total defense action. Elaine, Than and Aella, you're up. The stairs count as difficult terrain unless you jump down them, so count as 10 feet of movement per 5 feet traveled.

Aella will start stripping the unconscious guard of armor and weapons so that if her brother ever gets over there he can suit up. I'd also take any keys, coins, or baubles!

Aella doesn't find any keys on this guard. He is wearing the uniform of the prison guards and a pair of sturdy leather boots. He has 3 silver pieces and 7 copper in his pocket, and doesn't seem to be carrying any other jewelry or valuables. Aella starts to tug off the guard's chain shirt, getting it bunched up around the guard's arms.

There is a longsword sheathed at his hip, and a heavy steel shield and leather club lying on the stairs where he dropped them when he got knocked out.

Elaine walks over to Aella and assists her with stripping the armor off the fallen guard. "It looks like Jasper's shirt is still usable too, we should take it next if there's time."

Than will walk over next to Aella and the fallen guards. "I'll take the club and his uniform. We might be able to trick some people into thinking I am taking you guys somewhere, at least from a distance."

The leather clubs do 1/2 lethal, 1/2 non-lethal damage. They're designed to subdue, not kill. Otherwise, they're normal clubs that do 1d6 damage.

Dav moves into the other room and examines the door in front of him, dagger in hand. Is there a window in this door? I didn't have enough speed to walk right next to it

Dav looks at the door. It is a solid wood door, without a window. He remembers being led through that door, where he was held down and branded with a hot iron. At that time, it held four chairs and a wooden table, and little else.

Grumblejack laughs at the guard's screams, and tries to smash her again.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"Heh heh heh...scream, little one. I like my food to have some spirit."

Grumblejack swings high, as the guard ducks under his fist. She obliges him by screaming, loudly.

Aella, Than, Elaine, you're up. I don't have roll20 access right now, but I don't believe any of you are in a position to run into more guards this round, so I'll move them when I get home. Are you all working on removing the chain shirts this round as well?

As you all work to strip the armor off the two fallen guards, the screaming from the other room abruptly ceases with a sickening crunch.

Aella and Elaine have a chain shirt they've taken off the guard. Than and Dav are in the process of stripping the other suit off Jasper. Other than the armor, the guards each have clothing, a heavy steel shield, a club and a longsword. Than has one of the clubs. The chain shirts take 5 rounds to don hastily, or 10 rounds to don properly.

Aella and Elaine are up, I'll assume Than and Dav finish taking off Jasper's chain shirt for their next actions unless they chime in otherwise.

Elaine lets Aella take the chain shirt, and gets out another bomb from her box. She moves over to the top of the stairs and attempts to see or hear what is at the bottom.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"We should begin heading downstairs. I can go first with the bomb in case we run into anyone unpleasant."

From the top of the stairs, the room below appears to be empty, lit by flickering torchlight. A door hangs ajar at the opposite end of the room, with a small piece of another room or hall visible beyond.

I've moved Elaine on the Roll20 map over to the equivalent location for the stairs 1 floor down. If Aella wants to move onto the stairs, you can just move her over there.

I moved you over by Elaine, assuming you give Elaine the shirt with your second action.

Aella moves part way down the stairs, handing off the shirt to Elaine. She can see that the room is empty except for two torches flickering on the wall. The door on the far wall is open, and Aella can see a little bit of another room through the door.

Than and Dav finish taking the chain shirt off of Jasper's body.

Elaine and Aella are up again.

Elaine sets down her bomb on the floor, steadying it with her feet.

"I suppose your brother can have the shirt from Jasper, then."

She begins to put on the chain shirt. I'm going to "don hastily".
