GHOSTLIGHT MARSH - 15:45, DAY 8

Captain Bloodtusk agrees to wait here for your return. Silvermane’s marker shows that they’re in the right place, but to find the hidden entrance to the Vault, you first need to find a will-o’-wisp to place in the ghostlight lantern that Silvermane gave you. Once you disembark from Bloodtusk’s keelboat, Silvermane’s instructions are to head northward from the marker into the swamp.

North of the stone marker on the riverbank, Ghostlight Marsh is comprised of slow-moving streams, pools of stagnant water, and scattered hummocks of mud and waterlogged reeds.

On average, the water is 4 feet deep and counts as deep bog, requiring 4 squares of movement to enter a square and providing cover to creatures in the bog.

Lys' face can only be described as true horror. "Right. I'm sure that this crystal clear water would do wonders to my skin. And your wounds, too...", she huffs, staring with disgust at the water. "Ugh. And what about Bum?", she complains, patting her horse. "Hey, Bum, buddy.", she says non-chalantly. "Would you kindly come to the swamp? If not, I'm sure that Captain Bloodtusk is nice enough not to make you into sausages and will give you a nice owner when he can.", she turns her gaze towards the captain. "Right?", she asks nicely, casually checking the sharpness of a bolt.

She cautiously dips a toe in the water, before bringing her foot back up, sending an innocent look at Nerak. "So... Nerak, if you know that cleaning spell, I promise I'll buy you the pointiest and the starriest hat next time we're in town. No, didn't see the Roll20 result. But I believe you.

After a ten minutes or so, Arlan and Varin have the legs dismembered and finally removed one of the heads when you discover the secret of the hydra. While only removing a head of the hydra slows its regeneration, two heads begin to grow in the original's place. After another minute of concentrated work, the last head is decapitated and the regeneration finally stops. Needless to say, Arlan and Varin are filthy between bog water and hydra fluids.

Beltzer, please review the current hit points for me. Please give me some RP posts to wrap up this odd encounter. Then, we can advance. Cheers

Nerak waved at the pair, honestly how could you kill thinking beings. No matter how dull witted, yet have any reluctance concerning a predator. His magic was making slow work but none the less effective.

"For all we know we are the only dinner for miles. A creature that heals from just about anything has no fear, it will come again and again. I don't leave threats around to try again and continue to deplete our resources."

After a few more waves the pair were clean, at least what parts of them were not in the bog.

"Happy now."

He did not add the princess but his sarcasm was evident enough as he mounted Ranon. Using his magic to clean himself as well, he was ready to move on.

Onward to the next thing trying to kill us. =P

Varin shrugs as he shrinks back to normal. "Used to the mud by now. Hard to keep clean on the front lines, but thanks for the buff up. I'll make sure nothing eats you or that walking roast your riding on!"

Lys sees the act of hydra dismemberment with equal parts disgust and awe.

"You guys considered getting a job at a butcher's shop? I'm pretty sure you can get the hydra to vouch for you.", she replies, neck deep in muck. She takes a brief look around the trees. "If we set for the night, I say we get a hanging hammock or several around the trees. Otherwise, we'll get pleasantly acquainted with several hundred leeches and their close relatives.", she mutters in annoyance.

"Speaking of dinner...", she continues, looking at the corpse. "Think that's edible? I don't think this muck did any good to our trail rations, but, hey, it's trail rations. I wouldn't be surprised.",

Varin stared at the Hydra before shrugging and stepping forward, pulling his hopeknife from his belt and beginning to set to work. "Can't hurt to try. I'mma need a few minutes to carve this up. That hide will be useful too. Anyone wanna help...?"

Survival for food / for hide-1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27+2 if someone aids me. Though a Nat-20 sure is nice.

GHOSTLIGHT MARSH - 18:00, DAY 8

Varin spends an hour cutting up the hydra expecting a long trek in the marsh. While his intentions are noble, he forgets that the keelboat will not wait forever for them to return to their meeting point.

You return to slogging through the bog effectively following a water current upstream. You eventually stumble upon a old wooden bridge over a deep section of marsh. The trail of the bridge heads upstream in one direction and away from the stream sort of toward the main river where the keelboat is. So, you decide to continue upstream.

Feet dry, you pass three more old wooden bridges and approach a fourth. The last two bridges show the trail to be circling a small pond as the marshy vegetation thins near the pond. The trail appears to end at a ragged tent and campsite. You can see a dwarven warrior walking around the camp talking to herself. Underneath years of grime, you can see her wearing chainmail, a waraxe, a handaxe, and a composite shortbow. She obviously has not noticed you.

The bridge is about 20-feet across and five feet wide spanning a deeper section of the marsh 10-feet wide. The dwarf is pacing about 30 feet beyond the bridge.

I am wearing Full Plate since we left the ship and there is no chance of drowning. Should have stated that earlier. My AC is 20.

Dwarves hate orcs--she's gotta be on our side, Arlan says to the others before moving towards the bridge and waving his arm to hail her.

You there! Hello! The name's Arlan--we come in peace!

Nerak stays back drawing his crossbow just in case. It seemed odd for a lone dwarf to be out here in that state, unless they were some kind of hermit or mad. Likely a mad hermit, the druids turned themselves into wisp by killing themselves after all. That did not speak to a completely rational mind in his opinion, maybe this was another druid. Or maybe a apprentice to one of the druid wisp. He wondered on that, was that possible?

The things wizards think about folks. ;)

"ACK! FILTHY GREEN-SKINNED! YOU'RE NOT GOING AMBUSH ME!" The dwarf screams pulling out his shortbow and launches two arrows at Arlan.

Sense Motive DC 30:
The dwarf is suffering from some sort of mental affliction.

comp shortbow at Arlan: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
comp shortbow at Arlan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
damage to Arlan: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
