Seeing that the boulder has done its job, and blocked up most of the gate, Varin shouts over at the two frontliners, "Arlan, Wulfrum, press the gap. Get down there and make sure no one comes through that hole. I'll be there in a moment!" With a grim smile he side-stepped, imposing himself between the Orc and Nerak. "Should have stayed down. I wouldn't have had to kill you then!" With all of his might, he swung the heavy large hammer, hard toward the chest of the Orc.

Mohs watches the last few orcs of the flood stumble forward. A complex word and a simple gesture sends a splash of acid toward one of the stragglers to quicken its journey to its final reward.

Patrol Sergeant Omast hiccups and steps into the stirrup of his heavy crossbow. He winches back the draw and says to himself, "Woo Hoo! Fish in a barrel! Fish in a barrel." He loads a new bolt and hefts the crossbow into his arms.

As the last orc dies, the small battlefield between you and the Western Wall stands eerily quiet. Behind you, the three big trees continue to alchemically burn; fortunately the nonexistent wind keeps the foul greenish smoke away from you. Beyond the wall, a battlefield of orcs can be heard shouting and fighting. However, the gap between flaming boulder and rolling logs remains empty.
Standing adjacent to the flaming boulder causes 1d6 fire damage. Passing through the square doesn’t cause damage.

Sure, if you had the movement. I didn't count. It isn't an issue except to avoid the AOO, because Omast is your ally and would let you through his square.

"I think we are all that Mother could spare my friend." Beltzer says to Omast. "Are you wounded at all?" If he replies yes I cast a healing hex on him. I also have a casting of lesser restoration but I'm not sure Omast needs that over the potions.

"Do people find it strange we haven't seen a leader yet? We have seen what I can guess as 'captains' but an orc force this large I would've thought would be spearheaded by a large orc leader of some kind. I have yet to see any." Beltzer curiousity is getting stronger. For them to attack out of the blue might be the orc way however no-one was really ready for the attack. How do you miss a force like this? Something is putting me off though I can't put my finger on what.

"If the aim was to reduce us to ash, why haven't we seen any warmachines yet? Bah too much thinking for now. Beltzer puts his thoughts behind him for now, as his comrades haven't entertained his ideas yet. If I don't spend an action healing Omast I will ready again.

And they don't even taste as good." I could do with some food. Maybe go and see Arlan's mom. She makes a mean chicken. "Maybe we just haven't seen the leader? He or she could be hiding behind the lines, shouting or messaging orders." Raising her eyebrow deep in thought, she continues, "And I think they may want to loot the place before they burn it to the ground, I know I usually do!"

"That sounds very un-orc like of the leader if he's behind the lines." He clutches his chest saying. "The anger that builds within that side doesn't let you wait, you must bring it to bear. A pack of orcs slipped through the portcullis before we could get the gate closed. They killed everyone else and headed toward the Eastern Lookout Tower. They were led by a battle drummer." He primarily speaks to Nerak, Mohs, Beltzer and Lys who stand near him.

Then, he takes another swig from his flask and yells at Beltzer, "And warmachines? Wha da you think threw that flamin boulder, sonny? A giant? Haven't you heard the other boulders crashin inda town? You deef? Course they got flamin warmachines. Stop your thinkin. You ain't no good at it." (Remember that's a drunk talking.)

They're... well... not among us now, except for the chunks Arlan didn't clean off his armor, but I was wondering, since when do orcs bully people into giving them their stuff? Doesn't seem proper orcish to me.", she says, enjoying the sight of the two beefy men lifting stuff in the background. Hihi.

Nerak remains ready for anymore orcs while listening. It didn't seem like much new information, it also appeared they had taken care of the main elements that made their way in. But it still bothered him how they had gotten in to begin with.

Wulfrum decided it would be best to at least sneak a peek at what was going on outside of the gate before the logs were in place completely, just to see if the orcs were rallying, running, or looked like they were going to try something altogether different.

"See this is what I mean." He concurs with Lys. "Something isn't right here and hasn't been from the beginning. They are after something more than the town." Beltzer starts to mull things over. "Maybe if we got one of the orcs alive we could quickly question them before putting it out of it's misery.

Summary Round 37

With a tremendous demonstration of strength, Arlan and Varin shift several of the logs toward the gap with the flaming boulder. Only the alchemical fire prevents them from completely closing the gap. As it is, the ends of the logs start to catch fire.
I shifted the rolling log token to the right. The end is in the red aura of the flaming boulder and starts the catch fire. Since the logs are flammable, it will spread. The logs will use the same rules as the barricades.

barricades:
Barricades have been set up on the hill leading toward the western gate. The barricades are approximately 3 feet high and 5 feet wide. A barricade has an AC of 5, hardness 5, hp 20 per 5-foot square, and a break DC of 20. It costs 2 squares of movement to cross a barricade. A barricade provides cover, but only to creatures within 30 feet of it. An attacker can ignore the cover if he’s closer to the obstacle than his target.

Patrol Sergeant Omast hiccups again and shifts his loaded heavy crossbow from one shoulder to the other while swaying side to side. "Strong boys down there." He comments about Varin and Arlan to Nerak, Mohs, Beltzer and Lys who stand near him. Then, he starts singing a vulgar drinking song to himself.

Wulfrum braves the flaming boulder to look into Western Gate and sees another squad of orcs charging through the short stone tunnel. The leader wears hide armor and carries a falchion and a grenade with a lit fuse. He stops at the broken portcullis and sadistically grins at the dwarf, then hurls his unerring grenade at Wulfrum. The hollow clay container holding a small charge of black power breaks on the dwarf's breastplate and explodes in a ten foot burst radius engulfing Varin and the ends of the logs, too.

The calm before the storm finally breaks as orcs flood through the Western Gate. Seven orcs charge past Varin and Wulfrum funneling through the gap between the flaming boulder and the new log barricade. Each wielding with falchions and shields.
Wulfrum and Varin get AOO on one of the orcs. Pick one other than red. Varin, you may only attack with the gauntlet of your full plate.

Varin saw the grenade fly toward him and Wulfrum, before throwing himself back and away, turning his face against the flash of fire and the explosion of clay and shrapnel. He gritted his teeth against the flash of pain and the wave of blood that covered his face from shallow gashes in his forehead and cheeks.

As one of the Orcs ran by, Varin lashed out, slamming his fist in to the face of the Green demons with a bestial yell.

With a roar, Varin grabbed the haft of his hammer, before spinning and slamming the weapon as hard as he can in to the momentarily stunned Half-Orcs chest.

His hammer slammed in to the chest of the Orc with a loud crunch of bone and the satisfying feel of tearing metal.

Wulfrum in his infinite wisdom saw the orcs coming...right as they were staging their assault. He didn't have time to even react as the charge went off on his chest and he was caught full force with the blast, he was lucky that his beard was still caught up in his earlier spell or he'd be having to clean it up the next day.

He slammed his warhammer down into the orc nearest him as he tried to get through.

He swung around, his hand touching his chest to ease some of the pain before swinging again at the straggling orc.

Varin, that's 27 damage so that should kill the purple orc. So I'm assuming you move into his space, which means I'll move to your square. I can't move your token, so I'll just draw the line for now.

Arlan runs forward to replace Varin, feeling the effects of the potion to help him calm down and clear his mind.

He swings his sword two-handed at the last bodyguard protecting the orcish captain, carving through deeply until the blade catches on a bone.

My readied action was form a while ago, so I'll just take a normal action here.

Seeing that he has no need to get himself into danger right now Beltzer instead tries to give Wulfrum some breathing room by attempting to Daze the orc just behind him to prevent him being surrounded.

will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 DC14, Brown orc loses his actions for next round. I'm actually unsure of this by looking at the spell but since he can't take actions can he not count as a flanker? I know he isn't denied his AC as it says that explicitly.

While we wait for Mohs, Varin kills the purple orc and steps on top if its body. Lys, missed the critical confirmation (not flat-footed), so only does 20 damage to the bombardier, right? Nerak barely does not kill the staggered bombardier. No, a dazed orc cannot flank. Cheers
