With a nod of satisfaction, Marnarius starts shooting at the *real* Zey.

Images #2: 1d5 ⇒ 3
One of Zey's sparkly images fades as Marnarius strikes it. The other arrow strikes true, but only seems to lightly graze the wizard, the lion's share of its momentum lost as it hits his skin.
There are now 4 Zeys, including the real one.
Zey: 3 Images, SS 100, Resist Acid 30, Temp HP 9, MM 1/2

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Question: If I cast dispel magic at Aram Zey, will there be a chance to accidentally just reomve the glitter outlining him? The spell would be targeted at him as a creature, but I could see the lingering effects of glitterdust being counted as a spell effect on Zey (and unfortunately almost certainly the lowest caster leveled one.
Standard Pregen |
@3-2-2: You can opt to use Dispel Magic to target a single, specific spell (named at the time of casting Dispel Magic). The downside of that is, of course, that you only target that one specifically named spell (so if you flub the initial CL check, that is it)...
Rataji PBP |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Rataji readies an action to cast dispel magic from a scroll when Zey casts his next spell, as long as it is over 3rd level, to try and counter it.
I hate this spell. Feeblemind. or any spell that causes death when a ST is missed.
"Feeblemind. The bane of all spellcasters. Like the spell I've got right here on this scroll! You should surrender now Zey unless you prefer to be a drooling idiot. If you cast, I cast!"
Massive Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
"Gazwyr, stop messing around and grapple him with your eyes closed."

322 fishes a scroll out of her pocket as she attempts to dispel the multiple Zeys.

Rataji is keen to see if the fire or cold damage gets through!

Ah, I understand! A projected image is a bit different. The spell caster is casting the spells as normal, but the seem to be emanating from the image. There is no separate entity or clone involved.

322's spell removes the illusory copies of Aram Zey, leaving just one behind.
Shohiraj Crit Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Shohiraj's bolt strikes the Master of Spells, though he doesn't seem significantly harmed, while Joliryn fails to connect with the man.
Green energy, somewhat resembling that emitted by the device in the center of the room, rapidly gathers around Zey's gem-topped rod. It lashes out over Gazwyr and Joliryn, before being rebuffed by Rataji's magical field.
S Conc: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28
Joliryn and Gazwyr need to make DC 20 Will saves vs. Slow.
He then quickly moves his free hand in a spellcasting gesture. Rataji attempts to dispel the effect, but the scroll is unable to rebuff such a talented spellcaster.

Did I get an AoO vs the casting of slow or did he cast defensively? if the later: his concentration check is at -6 thanks to disruptive and mystic focus. Although the 28 concentration check is than a 22, which is still more than the required 21

Oof, when a wziard's tough enough a dragon can't grapple them, you know they mean business.
As the lightning splays out around Aram Zey, 322 takes a deep breath, then glides forward. Drawing upon the croll's energy, she casts Heal and touches the halfling.
Joliryn, you are at full health and no longer Feebleminded.

Rataji PBP |
Note that Joli has the disruptive feat so if she is next to him that is an additional -4 to the check, or -6 if she is in mystic focus.
Rataji PBP |
Can Rataji do a spellcraft to figure out what is causing his skin to harden? I suspect it is stoneskin but would like to confirm.
If confirmed, Rataji will ask 322 to try to dispel it.
"Excellent work you beautiful dragon you! Can you pin him?"
"Marnarius, can you shoot an arrow at him if he tries to cast a spell? If we can prevent him from casting any spells we've got him!"
I'm assuming Zey is not in the lesser globe here since he is high up. If he is out of reach, Zey will cast ear-piercing scream on him. DC 16 fort save for half and no daze
damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2) = 11
If he is in the safe bubble then Rataji will have to do something different.
Ietsuna Shohiraj |
Shohiraj moves in close, so that she can use her sap.
Not sure if it is possible with Zyr flying (he is flying, yeah), but trying to set up a flank with Joli perhaps. Wanna start raining down the pain

If that sneak attack works, I would like to apply the Bewildered condition for 1 round. It reduces his AC by 2 against everyone and an extra 2 against me
Rataji PBP |
I think you can go for a pin once you have him grappled.
GM Lari |
Yes, on closer examination it does seem to be stoneskin
Shohiraj still needs a reflex save vs. the chain lightning.

Rataji PBP |
@Shi
No, no more hast spells. The list of spells still available is growing smaller. Worse, I have only one long range spell left and that DDoor ruined my day - and the fact that he makes every ST and concentration check without fail.
Well, Rataji has one long range trick in his book but he is going to wait a round for the others to get near him. This turn he will cast displacement on Gwazyr. If he is not close enough at the moment he will say...
"Gwazyr, allow me to touch you with a spell as you fly over to the enemy." He will then Hold until Gwazyr moves and either cast it on him as he moves by or Marnarius if Gwazyr does not pass within reach.

"322 Wants you to grab him again, Gazwyr. I would tend to agree. Next time pin him if you get a chance. That's where you grab his arm limbs and keep them from wiggling. Makes it harder for him to cast a spell."

The rays burn the master of spells, as do Marnarius' arrows, leaving the man very wounded.
Quickened Dispel: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Indeed, he is greater invisible. However...
One of Joliryn's rays hits the bookshelf, but the other connects with something invisible, and a thump is heard. Rataji (if conscious after the fire snake), sees Zey collapse.
We are still in initiative order.
With at least one Aspis agent near death, and others who still need to save (Rataji and Shohiraj), we do need to see how things get handled. Some of you are not yet done with your missions, either.
Rataji PBP |
Zey is invisible again, Joliryn, thanks to dispelling Glitterdust, so you'd need miss chances.
I was waiting for that and have a glitterdust handy. But it seems that now I can concentrate on Marnarius. If I survive...
