He was even ready to leave the camp, after all the effort you've done to get it running again it will have been a shame, don't you think ?
Don't you have seen the Azlanti Monolith come by ?

Waiting for Juliet's response, D'lack looks around him, and responds to Beorin's words Yes, it was a place where the cyclopean astronomer-priests use for both of their function.

Dunkel pauses, examining the archaeologists warily himself, surprised at the cordial greeting they receive after pushing the heavy doors open.

He immediately loses interest as he suspects the crumbling infrastructure may be due to excessive digging and takes a few steps in that direction...

    Beorin Only:

On the far side of the chamber, where the archaeologists have made camp, you notice movement from inside one of the tents.

"I'm so sorry to hear that about Happ! But this really is a once in a lifetime find, even bigger than Azlant Ridge, and I'm afraid if we leave it may be impossible to find the site again if the beacon extinguishes itself. I'd never forgive myself if we lost the site or it was damaged while we were away. Just take a look around. Tadija, show them"

One of the archaeologists will beckon to one of the mosaics, indicating a cyclops with a uniquely pattered green eye. "See this trapiche emerald? Definitely not native to the region. We think it came from Xin-Edasseril. That would be the first direct evidence of trade between Ghol-Gan and Thassilon. And the patterns used in the framing show the evolution from the Late Classical period to those found in post-Earthfall sites in Iobaria..."

    Doubtful Only:

As anyone who's ever met Kreighton Shaine knows, Pathfinders can get overly fixated on their work. Even by the standards of the Master of Scrolls, Juliet and the others seem to have gone overboard.

While the other archaeologist continues his lecture, Juliet continues to talk about the Monolith. "The monolith did burst into here two days ago. It's in the central chamber right now. We're not sure what its doing, but in the meantime there's so much to see and document."

She'll give directions to the chamber if you wish, with an added warning. Orange, then two lefts to Dark Green.

    Doubtful Only:

As she continues to talk, you get the sense she might be under the influence of some sort of charm.

"On the whole, the site is perfectly safe. Be careful of the room next to it, though. Something makes it supernaturally dark inside, and we don't have the resources to handle that right now. Be careful not to touch the beacon either," she says as she points to the top of the tower. Brown is the room she identifies as supernaturally dark.

"Arletta touched it and it made her really sick. She's resting in the campsite right now."

This open-aired area is a tidy camp consisting of six tents. A few sheets of canvas stretched between rivets in the wall provide shade to a table and chairs. An opening leads to the west and a solid stone door leads north.

It's a loci spirit that infuses the complex, though it is housed in the central sacred chamber. You can communicate with it through the crack in the wall, if you wish."

There are a number of auras radiating off of Juliet, including a number of magic items to be expected for a Pathfinder of her rank, including magical amulet, cloak, and belt.

    Dunkel Only DC 19 Arcana:

The strongest aura is a moderate enchantment aura. That could indicate a malevolent spell, like a charm or compulsion, or a variety of beneficial spells, like heroism.

Loci Spiri DC 15 Planes or Religion:

Loci spirits are similar to haunts, but created when a region is saturated with positive emotions and energy over an extended period of time. Loci spirits infuse a specific area; their psychic energy heightens the positive emotions experienced there to create a feeling of peace and protection.

    Thorn:

You're quite used to Pathfinders getting overly fixated on their work and oblivious to the world around them. Kreighton Shaine and Imrana provided you with plenty of examples of that. But even by their standards, these people are going overboard. Magical bamboozlement seems likely.

    People with Arletta

As Beorin does his best to calm Arletta down, she goes quiet, before throwing open the tent flap.

"Quick! Come inside before the rest of my team comes over!"

Assuming the three of you follow, she sits you down in the cramped tent before continuing to speak in a hushed voice.

"There's something wrong with the others. Something has control over them. It had me too, but I accidentally got some of the powder from the sphere on my forehead and somehow that broke the connection. I've been faking illness to avoid their attention. We can't just leave them here. I need to find a way to free them."

She continues, as she opens up her bag, removing what seems to be an unusually heavy bundle of clothing. Carefully unfolding it, she reveals a large stone disc. Light radiates from it, brightening the tent.

"Take this, but don't let my team see! There were two others like this, one brighter, and one that flickered, but Juliet put them through the crack in the wall, as 'offerings to the spirit'. I don't know what that means, but it can't be good."

She wraps it back up, before offering it to Beorin.

The north wall contains four large panels, each eight feet above the ground with a central gap about seven inches wide and an inch deep. Above the four panels are blocky letters, and below them, mosaics featuring sway-backed cyclopes. The chamber’s door displays a stylized depiction of Golarion and its moon traveling around the sun.

In the first mosaic, the large doors are ajar and three snake-like tails are slithering free. In the second, four cyclopes each place small stone discs into the panels. In the last mosaic, beams from the panels push back the serpentine tails.

The letters are written in Cyclops.

Know Cyclops or DC 20 Linguistics:

One word is given particular prominence above each panel. Those are in bold. Text goes from left to right.

The MOON set within the VOID reflects the SUN but does not obscure the STARS.

A massive metal man, identical to the one several of you saw at Azlant Ridge in the past, relentlessly pounds on the other large door. Thin cracks are visible in its surface.

Tentacles? Is that the cyclops version of japanese hentai =)

"That doesn't seem like a good idea." Doubtful mutters, as the huge construct works at breaking down the door.

"It trying to get in or let something out?" He adds uncertainly.

Is the gap in the panels the same size as the tablet Arletta gave us?

Where are the cracks Arletta mentioned, that the others pushed the disks through?

    Silver Crusade

The disk you have does look like it would fit in any of those slots. The cracks here are hairline and just starting to spread, so it's likely they pushed them through the bright crack in the opposite hallway White arrow

I'll be keeping track of some information at the top of the page. Let me know if anything ends up incorrect or out of date.

Strange it's written The MOON set within the VOID reflects the SUN but does not obscure the STARS. Each of these words seems to be of importance Moon, Void, Sun and Stars.

    Its like BBQ sauce!

"Great place for to do dishes, either way." He adds sarcastically.

He doesn't comment more once they get to the big golem beating on the door, figuring the brainy types more likely to understand what's going on there.

Can we check out the brown area next? Since its right there.

"Do we want to be here when that thing finally gets through?" He adds with a frown.

edit: Did the disk that Beorin is carrying have one of those symbols on it? (Moon, void, sun, or stars?)

We have one use of the dust left? Yeah, I'd recommend applying it to Juliet, although it seems we're not on a specific timetable to break that enchantment as we're doing a little more exploring, especially metal man's pounding.

Dunkel, not one to let Wyatt run off by himself (I assume Doubtful is here too?), takes a look at the massive metal man.

"Ahhh, the diggin' a construct like tha' could do. Ah betcha 't could carve out ah 30x10 fifta' feet deep 'n under four hours!"

Sighing for a moment, Dunkel is brought back to the present as he contemplates the Cyclopian words and their meaning.

Dunkel clears his voice to see if the construct obeys basic commands.

Yeah, Thorn didn't absorb it. If we have to decide between Juliet and Thorn, Thorn will give it to the girl.

The rogue will go exploring (Take 10 on Linguistics for 23). "I don't speak that language, but I get the rough idea: The MOON set within the VOID reflects the SUN but does not obscure the STARS."

Upon getting a look at the metal guardian "CAYDEN'S CODPIECE! WHAT THEY BLOODY'ELL!" He looks around. "Glad he's knocking on the door on not me."

Thorn's all for exploring, any door, whoever is going to be the one to enter can pick which.

Not sure what the Green one is about

At some point (probably on the way to Grey door) would be nice to check out that 'crack' they were dumping the tablets in, perhaps we can recover them.

Applying the dust to Juliet is doable, but will require a bit of effort on your part, as she currently believes the powder is dangerous. Green is still on the map to indicate that it is closed, in case it becomes relevant, as all doors require a DC 20 Strength check to open.

The construct continues on, oblivious to Dunkel's command.

After several tries, Doubtful forces open the nearest door. Brown Though the dwarves have no trouble seeing, the darkness in here seems resistant to most light sources. like the darkness spell. The shelves are largely bare or contain debris from whatever was stored here that decayed long ago, though there are some items of note.

Two onyx carvings, one of an elephant, the other a hippopotamus, stand together. Two mithral wands lie on another shelf, near a platinum orrery. On the far side of the room, a stone disk identical to Beorin's but not radiating light, leans against a wall.

Doubtful scowls at the door, after it refuses to open. "Why'd they even bother closing them up again, if they've already looked in here?" He growls.

"Unless something else is sealing them up?" He muses a moment later, before finally managing to bust the door open.

    Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

He glowers into the room, waiting for whatever horrible thing is hiding in there to come out and get them. After a moment when nothing happens, he points out the disk.

"Darkness is probably to keep the light from that one from burning out our eyes or something."

give the caster types a moment to possibly do any detecting or the like, then he'll step in and see what jumps out.

I admit to be worried the darkness is a protective mechanism =) Perhaps if any of this is magical, let Dunkel or Beorin try to ID it inside the dark area first?

Thorn stays out of the dark until it's deemed safe "Dwarf and wizard business... hehe how often do you get to say that?"

If we can convince Juliet, awesome. If not, trick her. If that doesn't work, Thorn will take it and we'll come up with another plan for her.

Hmmm... When Arletta gave us the disk, she said they'd had two others... one brighter, one that flickered...
Which would fit perfectly with Sun (brighter), Stars (flickering), Moon (the one she gave us). So if the one in the room is Void the disk might be emitting the darkness, not the room.
