Urshala and Razfallo work together to surround and attack Wager, the man in charge. Razfallo, waits for Ursahla to get into position, and takes a swing with his weapon. It clangs off the man's armor. Urshala, uses the distraction to punch the man in the kidney region. Although, no serious marks or damage is left, Wager doubles over in pain as the blow is precise and hurts like hell. Auric, takes two shots. The first find its mark, and sticks in the man's leg. The second barely travels a few feet, and thuds in the dirt.
Three figures, step out from the shadows and launch attacks at the party. One arrow sticks in Auric's side, and the other breaks on the ruin floor much like Auric's own shot did moments ago. Not ready for the arrow, Periel feels it stick in their shoulder, and can see a trickle of blood flow.

Vanzetti, conjures up an explosion of intense heat and fire. All three archers, drop to the ground with severe burns all over their body. The flame continues to burn away at them, as they flop on the ground in black masses of nerve jerking pain.
Alektara, sees the archers all drop in heaps, and moves toward the leader, while Periel moves towards Wager as the Pathfinder's all start to gang up on the bandit leader.
Wager, snarls as his minions are dispatched with the wave of a hand i seems, but refuses to give up.
Ursahla and Razfallo team up once more. Ursahla, throws dirt and debris in Wager's face. He starts to scratch at his face, trying to see again, while Razfallo is able to dig his blade in only once, as Wager's flailing blocks the second slash.
Auric, then buries two arrows into the blinded leader. The first hits his leg, while the other buries into Waager's chest. Wager slumps to the ground, his guisarme falls to his side. The threat is over. Luckily he is still breathing, and a small trickle of blood flows from his puncture wounds, but stops quickly as his blood clots rapidly.

After tying up Wager, and checking things out, Auric uses a charge from his wand. The leader, coughs a few times as he is brought back to consciousness.
Hmph, damn you, as he looks around to his archers burning and burned to death.
So, what the hell do you want with me then. I don't have time to deal with your crap. My only goal right now is to find my brother and find the damned Jester. The jester betrayed us, he is our problem not yours.
The archers only had 18 hp, with a 13 con... so 26 damage would have brought them to -5. They probably would have died from burn damage
Ursahla |
We had you bumbling around like a drunken sailor and now the rest of your crew is dead. Wouldn't it be wise to nurse your wounds and let us handle the Jester?
Ursahla presses her hand against the spot where her knee struck Wager, leaning onto his kidney.
Seeing him uncomfortable as it is likely making him, she leans in and vamps it up a bit.
But if you tell me a real good story about how the Jester betrayed you and what happened to your brother, I'd be willing to consider making you a part of my crew.

The jester betrayed my family and my brother went missing. Last I heard the jester was headed east, but there have been no signs of him. I figured you were in league with the jester since you the only ones I have seen for a couple days now. If you know which way the Hester went, just leave me be and go after him. You are obviously strong enough
Ursahla |
Based on her sense motive roll, does Ursahla think there would be any value in offering to bring Wager along? If he's really looking for revenge, then she wouldn't be opposed to helping him.
Auric Voralius |
"We're on the same side, and even though you refused to see it at first, it's good to see you come to reason. What can you tell us about the Jester? Is there anything we should know?" asks Auric.
DM Stylz |
Wager is indeed looking for revenge.
Sabas, the jester betrayed us. My brother, Baran, was hired by House Disaren, trying to find out the status of the mission. We hired Sabas, to steal from the Bourtze family, and when Sabas failed to report, my brother was hired to find out why. My brother has not returned, so I was sent to find out what had happened to my brother. Last I knew, they were headed west, and I stopped here hoping to intercept Sabas the jester, and learn of things. I then saw your group, and figured you were either the jester in disguise, or townsfolk hunting for the jester themselves.
He takes a breathe, I WILL to find my brother, and that will not stop regardless of what you say to me
The Amazing Vanzetti |
"I know of no reason why brothers should not be reunited. We'll be happy to help if we can."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Ursahla |
Ursahla takes out her wand and begins to use it to heal Wager.
When Wager looks mostly healed, she puts her wand away and pulls out the razor from her shaving kit.
Not sure how injured he is, so no idea how many charges I would need.
Then stand on your own two feet and come with us. But I will warn you once and only once. If you even think about betraying us, I will use this razor to slit your throat from ear to ear. Then, while your life is draining from your neck I will shave you bald then turn your hair into a wig and I'll sing a bawdy little sea shanty while I do it too.
Ursahla reaches into her pack and pulls out a wig of straight, black hair.
Just like this one, made from the hair of an ambitious first mate that tried to betray her captain and by that, us.
Ursahla pulls the red hair off her head, revealing a bald pate. She sticks the new wig on her head as her skin slowly starts to take on a blue hue, her natural undine coloration.
Because even if I'm not one who harmed your brother, I'm quite capable of being a vicious monster when I want to be.
DM Stylz |
A day will go by, between the last fight, and this new area. Gain HP as a day of rest, regain spells please
Your group leaves Wager, and continue west in hopes of finding the jester. On your way out from the ruins, you spot a chest under a cart that was shabbily hidden. Inside the chest, you find 5500 gold coins. You travel for a few more hours along the canal system, and you spend 3 hours or so questioning everyone you can about the possible whereabouts.
A local man tells you that they remember seeing a figure continue west, on horseback a day ago or so.
A few more people say the same, so you continue on your route.
A day passes, and you reach the locks, that control the water flow of the canal.
The jester’s trail winds through a tangled thicket along the marshy banks of a silt-clogged canal. Foul secretions drip from the withered trees, and broad patches of ground lie barren, as if scorched
Almost lost in the thorny tangle, structures crumble beside the abandoned canal. Heaped debris—the remains of the pumps and waterwheels that once powered the canal’s locks—clutters their interior. The battered structures now guard a causeway of broken stone and tangled driftwood, a crude dam allowing foot traffic to avoid the swamps that line the silt-filled canal.
Torn body parts lie scattered near the buildings. Bright spatters of blood discolor the bleached stone walls and lie smeared in wide swaths across the ground.
You look around, and all you see are signs of blood, and it appears a battle took place.
You notice that next to one of the debris laden buildings, is a satchel. Inside, there is a scorched grimoire, the journal of Lady Ariesin Bourtze. Her final entry describes the planned summoning of an ancient salamander. The satchel also holds one of the items stolen from the Bourtze: a golden necklace, adorned with intricately worked rose motifs.
You remember that the nobleman Bourtze, had told of a necklace "that throttled anyone who donned it"
You continue to head west, and you run into a town, or what was one before the decline of Taldor and the canal stopped working. All that is left now, is a city in ruins, and it looks to be decrepit.
You see groups of bandits, milling around town, but none of them try to stop you from entering, or even show outward hostility.
As you approach the ruins, you see two archers on top of the who stop you at the gate.
Are you here for the auction?

Keeping silent Periel walks into the area scanning for doors and likely surprises. Finally setting his eyes to the place with smoke from the hearth going up and points to it. "While we wait we should get something to eat and drink. Maybe some of you might overhear any bits of useful information"
I think there should be at least one place were the waiters sit and drink and eat?
Alektara Bluemoon |
Alektara accompanies Ursahla...and will check out the Black Iron Gauntlet building as well...
DM Stylz |
The cured skins of several plains lions are strewn about this partially-collapsed ruin.
Standing in the building, is a centaur woman, flanked by two human fighters. She looks up as you approach the building. The two guards, do not move, but they keep their hands on their swords in case things get less "peaceful".
Hello she says as you get within 5 or so feet.
Ursahla |
Ursahla purses her lips and feigns disappointment at the sight of the lion skins.
Lions? I was hoping for something a bit more... exotic.
