Whenever we get rolling, I would like you to set up your title bar with the following info
Race - class/levels HP current / max AC, touch, flat footed, various saves, perception and anything else you think is important.
The biggest info is AC and HP, because I use what is posted in your header often to determine if you are hit, and if you are still standing afterwards.

We should have a paladin, an alchemist, an oracle, and a sorcerer.
The group may be a bit weak on healing - but 3 of the characters have some healing ability between lay on hands, formulas, and oracle spells.
We will see how it goes, I suppose!

Oliver stumps gleefully into the thread, leaning heavily on the spear turned walking stick. Looking around he muses aloud, "Well, I didn't figure I would be the first to arrive. Usually this bum leg makes it quite the opposite. Oh, well, that just means I'm here to greet everyone else as they arrive."
Present, and thanks for selecting me.

My Profile is complete. Need to add a few things to my title bar which I will do right now.

OK, done. Should we discuss why we have journeyed to Heldren from our respective starting points or just assume some manner of business brought us there and leave it at that?

So I lost track of your guys history a bit in the flurry of player choices.
Has anyone actually played this AP before?
Wraxus Drake |
I have not played this AP previously, excited to see where it goes. Still working on the finishing details for my character, should be done by tomorrow afternoon.
I am thinking of dropping my RoW AP trait, and grabbing 'Trap Finder' instead. This will allow me to trade out my archetype "Trapbreaker" for "Chirurgeon", which will boost my healing a little while still letting me deal with magical traps and the like.

Good enough. Just wanted to see if the first part would be boring for anyone and if I should change it up.
I plan to get rolling with some initial posts tomorrow night in the gameplay section.
I should point out that I have a challenging job that sometimes blows up, so I may randomly miss a post here or there. And every once in awhile I get to play a face to face game that disrupts my posting.
But I plan to post nightly to the best of my ability.
Thanks again for playing and I look forward to it.

No worries, I have the same problem.

Okay, full disclosure, I'm running this AP with my tabletop group.
That said, all three PbP's that I am GMing here (Shattered Star, Mummy's Mask, and Curse of the Crimson Throne), I'm also playing in another game of it.
If you look at those games, you can easily see that I maintain the separation of player and character knowledge. So it doesn't influence my actions or decisions in game.
No worries about missing here and there, sometimes RL rears its ugly head. It happens to everyone.
Oliver Hoffman |
No worries on the Knowledge roll, there were a lot of questions to catch up with.
I will be most likely rolling a LOT of knowledge checks, as Oliver's schtick, so I imagine resolving them will become second nature before long. ;)

I will respond tomorrow to the thread. Work has been killing me lately.

Map works fine on computers, for some reason on my phone I get the error.

I very critically injured several air molecules which will be out for the remainder of this battle...

Hi guys, I would like to apologize in advance. I had to terminate my chef, two cooks, and a server in the last 24 hours. As such, I am very short staffed at work and my posting with probably dip for the next week. I will try to get on as much as possible, but if I have not posted in a timely fashion, welcome the GM or another player to post on my behalf.
Keith S. |
@ Oliver - thanks but I don't need you to check on rules in a case like this and change your actions to suit. I was good with the AoO in this situation. I would have stopped you if you I didn't like it.
In general, I let the flow of the game go and don't overly sweat analysis of rules that don't influence the story in any significant way
I debated sending this in a PM but I wanted everyone to know my thoughts on this.
It is true I will miss rules in certain situations, but unless they are critical to the story or the actions will swing a serious situation (such as PC death) I don't sweat it much.
Oliver Hoffman |
I'm sorry, I didn't realize it would be an issue.
The rules search was primarily for my own edification. If I was going to be using his longspear, I wanted to make sure I was playing by the rules for doing so. Since I am unfamiliar with reach weapons, it was bothering me not knowing. I shared my knowledge, as I know I enjoy it when someone shares a rule I am unaware of, and offered the same opportunity in case anyone else was uncertain.
I neither removed my action, nor changed it. If I wanted to remove it, it was under the hour, so I could have deleted it. I didn't change it, as it was an AoO, so it didn't count as my action for the turn. I left it for the sole purpose of you to decide wheter you wanted to use it or not, as is your wont as a GM.
I am fine with whatever calls you make, but unless a rule is specifically called out as being different, I do everything I can to make sure I play by the book. It's better to do the right thing even when it's not required, than do the wrong thing when it is.

I have having some issues in RL with my aging parents.
This is going to cause my posting to be spotty for a bit.
It may also force me to drop off of online gaming - although that certainly won't be known for a few days or a week.
If so, I will be able to post and let you know.
Keith S. |
Folks - I am going to have to close up shop here. I need to spend my time supporting my parents - one is in hospice and the other is simply not doing well.
I simply don't have the time to keep this going.
I am sorry, I enjoyed the game with you folks and was liking how it was developing.
I will give a few days for any reply posts and I will shut down the campaign.
I do hope to keep playing in the one game I am in (as opposed to running one) so maybe I will see you around on the boards.
Oliver Hoffman |
Sorry to hear about your circumstances, and I totally understand your decision. GMing in any form is a demanding task, and it sounds like you have your hands full with more important RL issues. I wish you all the best.
Athromar Karthis |
Sorry to hear it, RL always takes precedence. Hope all gets better.
If things get better I would certainly play in another campaign again as I too enjoyed the flow!
