"Ach! Things be looking grim here!" Harry exclaims as he proceeds to cast another spell, cloaking himself in an aura of greenish energy, and drawing his club. "I be coming ta save ye!"
Cast Elemental Aura (Acid) on himself. Duration 6 rounds. Creatures adjacent to you when this spell is cast and at the start of your turn take 2d6 points of energy damage of the selected type. Also creatures affected by your aura take 1 point of ongoing acid damage per round for 1 round per three caster levels, and are sickened for the duration of the ongoing acid damage. The creature is allowed a DC 15 Reflex save to halve the damage and negate the additional effect.

Aella takes the Chuul's preoccupation with Robert as a final, decisive opportunity. Her greatsword manages to slip between two chitinous plates, and she uses that leverage to drive it back and forth, up and down. Each levering of her sword emits a loud, painful crack, until finally her blade slams all the way through, piercing out through the monster's chest.

Aella's first swing is hopelessly weak, her blade glancing from the beast's carapace... yet her second swing is mighty, the sword crunching through chitin and deep into soft wet flesh... creaking, it takes a moment for the monster grappling Robert to realise that it is dead... and to crash to the floor...
...behind it, a smaller creature, starts to shuffle away from the melee.

Bruised, battered and with control of her limbs slow to return, it is Kit'Arr who has borne the brunt of the chuul's savagery... although Robert has also been badly bloodied by the beast's claws. Whilst the group consider their next steps, the faint echoes of a rhythmic sound can be overheard from up ahead... the sound of metal striking against rock.

The source of the noise becomes quickly apparent as the group continue to make their way around the curved passages - as the floor slopes away and the water level starts to rise, the unmistakable silhouettes of five skum can be seen up ahead. A floating will-o’-wisp globe illuminates this chamber, which contains rubble and debris from an excavation against the face of the northeast wall. Water streams into the room from cracks in the wall as the sound of wild surf pounds against the other side.
Thus far, the skum - utterly engrossed in their excavation - do not appear to have noticed the group...

"My conscience demands that we try for diplomacy first. Perhaps they will be more amenable now that we have proven to be effective at destroying them. However, we don't have a good track record... and I'd hate to unnecessarily risk your safety if we could strike first and strike hard." The paladin sighs. "I vote for diplomacy, but I leave the decision to you smarter folk. I'm just an arrow - aim me where you see fit."

"That's not how ye are supposed ta do it...!" Harry cries out as he intones a spell. Soon a driving sleet fills the chamber , covering the skum in its icy grasp.
Cast Sleet Storm in a 40-ft. radius, catching all of the skum in it. It blocks all sight (even darkvision) within it and causes the ground in the area to be icy. A creature can walk within or through the area of sleet at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move in that round, while failure by 5 or more means it falls.

Chasing the fleeing skum, Aella rounds the final passageway and arrives at a long-forgotten Azlanti laboratory...
This chamber is partially flooded, its dry western section reserved for an alchemical lab cobbled together from salvaged Azlanti equipment. The lab appears to have not seen use in weeks, as dried chemicals and reagents have gummed up its condensers, extractors, and crucibles. Thin copper sheets hover above the makeshift lab, engraved with esoteric formulae... and there, stood amongst the complex glasswork and equipments, stands a skum. Radiating power, far more than the simple guards who have fallen to the resistance of the group, this one wears a scarlet robe and his webbed hands crackle with electricity...

Aella charges out of the storm, her greatsword slicing through the floodwaters behind, kicking up a small spray. She leaps the last five feet, lifting blade skyward in the hopes of ending the combat before it could even begin.

With a ferocity previously unseen from the paladin, Aella rushes forwards... moving past the fleeing skum, she brings her blade down hard upon her foe. With a terrible gash cut into it shoulder, the robed skum steps backwards... electricity sparking from its webbed hands.
Gurgling in a language that may or may not be human in origin, the wetness of the vocabulary makes it impossible to tell, it thrusts both arms outwards afore it... and a terrific line of tungsten blue arcs through the tunnels...

The other skum, already wounded and demoralised, is too slow and is caught within the sorcerer's spell. With a smell of scorched flesh, it tumbles backwards into shallow water...

Recognizing quickly the dangers of a magic user, Aella instinctively completes her leaping attack by landing into a roll off to the side. The skum's mystical counterattack glances just barely off of her side, sending painful electrical jolts shooting through her torso, though thankfully less that what it could have been.

Aella on her own is vicious enough with a blade in her hand... but with Kit'Arr joining the fray, the skum sorcerer has no chance - it falls to a series of devastating blows. Crashing to the floor, a collection of trinkets and esoteric baubles roll across the cobbles of the floor...
...and then, as the group take a moment to consider their position, there is a huge crashing from the corridor to the north of Robert. Slopping out into the corridor through the opening that was previously arcanely disguised, a huge beast with four long tentacles writhing spasmodically slides into view. Three eyes gaze at Robert impassively...

Harry grunts in surprise as the lead projectile impacts his body. Turning his attention to the dominated human, he withdraws a slender wand and motions at the tentacled beast. "Don't worry 'bout me! Git that walking sac o' mucus!"
