Side Quest: The Missing Ships:
You've heard only rumors, but it seems that the Miriam's Love isn't the first ship to show up dead in the water with no crew and no trace of what happened to them...

Side Quest: The Mysterious Slavers:
You've heard rumors at the Tavern in Rickety's Squibbs that a huge vessel, carrying slaves of an indeterminate race, came in for repairs. The guard onboard were heavily armed, and several people claim to have seen "lizardly humans" through port windows when they were able to sneak up. Voices were also heard at night, trying to get passers-by to release them, with promises of rewards.

The World Weapons:
It appears that there will be some sort of "demons" invading the Shackles, and the ancient Azlanti World Weapons are somehow connected. There is a cave, off of the cost of Rickety's Island, where you can learn more...

Yep option 2 is great. I think I will wait to summon a mount till next level and just take boon companion so its at full level. Would you be ok with the Roc. A flying mount seems like a good aid at see as it can be used to scout or help to find other ships to take as prize's.

Alistair: The only stipulations I put on "exotic" mounts like rocs or dinosaurs are this:

1. It has to fit into your backstory, ie how you got it, is it from the same area as your character, etc.

2. You put the time and effort into acquiring it, ie searching port cities for exotic animal merchants, or searching the area such a creature habits.

3. (And this is the one you fit into) Your character needs to know about the creature. Say you heard about such a creature from one of the people enslaved with you onboard the Horned Trader. You then do a bit of research, learn more about it, and summon one.

Basically, just work it into your character roleplay and it's yours.

All: I'm typing up the synopsis of your current location throughout the day. It should be ready to post later. It's not a hard reset, per se, but I am taking this opportunity to clean up on characters that have left and plot lines that no longer matter.

Part of what happens will result in you losing the Inauspicious Grin and sailing a very battered Horned Trader to Rickety's Squibbs (A place where pirates take captured ships and have them cosmetically overhauled to not resemble their former selves. You should discuss among yourselves what you want to name your new ship. Take some time to look through the Skull and Shackles players guide and decide on ship upgrades when you get said new ship squibbed and ready to sail. We'll use the loot points system and the ship upgrade system from module 2. Those worked well for my real life pirate game so I'm bringing them into this one.

Sailing I have Profession Sailor +8 so not terrible, Navigation is K.Geography wich can be up to +25 so check, Besides sailing is up to the Helmsman, the captain is hardly ever at the wheel. I got to plot courses and plan the taking of our prizes yar. or something. right. :)

If you wan't him to be a love oracle he can be Noro, it gets lonely out on the waters and all.

I think this will work better, no one would/could unserstand my orders once in combat unless they speak aquan so Harvey will be a better captain.

The next update will be the arrival at Rickety's Squibbs. To save time, go ahead and decide on two things: The name of your ship after it's squibbed and what all upgrades you want Rickety to put on.

The base cost of the squibbing is 3000gp. All upgrades after that cost extra, and a list can be found here.

Currently, you have 5 loot points (5000gp) worth of goods that you can trade to Rickety for more or less full price. That's 3000gp for the base squib and 2000gp to put toward enhancements and upgrades during the squibbing process. After draining the Sczarni vessel (which was named Miriam's Love, by the way), you currently have a weeks worth of food and water for the crew of your ship.

You'll also need to try and pick up some new crew, but that is a process I'm going to make easy. It will work like this:

Anytime you raid a ship, it is assumed that enough sailors join your crew to replace any lost in the fighting.

Anytime you are in a port city and are able to raise your infamy score, you acquire enough sailors to refuel your crew, and 1d4 of them will actually count as having NPC levels, making combat much easier for you, and they will act as NPC's in the same manner that Ulrak does, following orders well and being capable of protecting the ship in your absence.

I will spoiler the infamy and disrepute system in the campaign description line as well.

Expect this game to get a lot busier from here on out. I now have much more time to give to it, and I have a lot of really cool stuff I want to do with it.

The Plundering Dragon, The Howling Wolf. If we go with the Howling Wolf I think the crew should howl and carry on durring an attack acting feral and primal to instil fear.

@GM what is the base cost of our ship so we can figure the cost of upgrades.

I think we should get a figurhead based on the name and a Ram and see what we got left over.

However, if you can find the base cost of The Man's Promise from the skull and shackles ap, just take that and increase it by 15%. That's all I did when I made a The Horned Trader due to it being slightly bigger.

I can see us with that.
I have to go back and see what the ship has currently for weapons etc. I think that we will need to make sure that not only is it sea worthy but that we can hold our own in combat.

We really do not have a Wizard.

@gm, I know you stated that we can pick up some people is possible to get a wizard to join our crew as an NPC? even if we have to pay him as a henchman etc? I will be glad to parlay with them if they need be or we can capture one, but I think having one that has loyalty to us would be best.

I will do what I can today to get information on how to update our ship from the skulls and shackles but if someone else is faster that would be awesome too.

Remember, Olhas is an arcane caster, and he messages me a couple of days ago saying he hasn't forgotten the game, only he has a lot of RL stuff to take care of.

That being said, yes, it is entirely possible to pick up an NPC arcane caster to fill in while he's gone, and possibly if he doesn't return.

So Dragonkin They have the same CR as a normal ROC, I am going to try my hand at making it a cohort and see what you think following how pathfinder did the ROC. Would you be willing to allow this and work with me. It will be similar to the ROC, probably a bit weaker physicaly but have a breath weapon but not the full 9d6 the Normal Dragonkin his. I will post the stat line I come up with here and see what you think.

Starting Statistics: Size Medium; AC +3 natural armor; Speed 40 ft., fly 100 ft.; Attack 2 talons (1d4), bite (1d6); Ability Scores Str 14, Dex 18, Con 12, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 16; Special Qualities Darkvision, Low light vision, Scent. Immune to Fire, Paralysis, and sleep Dragon Traits. Breath Weapon 3d6 Fire DC 10+ 1/2 HD+ Con

7th-Level Advancement: Size Large; AC +3 natural armor; Attack 2 talons (1d6 plus grab), bite (1d8); Ability Scores Str +4, Dex –2, Con +6. Breath Weapon 6d6 Fire DC 10+ 1/2 HD+ Con.
Rider Bond
A dragonkin can form a permanent bond with its rider. Once this bond is made, a dragonkin cannot form another rider bond until its current rider dies. A dragonkin and its rider can communicate with each other as if they both had telepathy 100 ft. In combat, when a rider is mounted on his dragonkin, both creatures roll initiative separately and treat the highest result as their single result.

So its a little weeker Str, Dex then a Roc, Less Natural AC, but has dragaon traits, Rider Bond and Breath Weapon. Let me know what you think and if you want to make changes to allow it just let me know, thanks.

After reading up on the dragon kin, it seems to me like they would be a bit annoyed by being "summoned". I feel like that is the solution for animals that are commonly found in the wild, like tigers and dinosaurs.

Now, I wouldn't have any opposition to one being, say, rescued from a bad situation on another ship that you just happen to come across during your illustrious pirate career, thereby creating a Han-Chewie type relationship.

The stat line you proposed looks balanced enough, it's not too far off of my hunter's tiger in a Jade Regent game. The only things on there that make me a bit concernicus are the int of 10, and the 100 foot fly speed. I would suggest is finding a medium between the two of us that we can agree on for the fly speed. Perhaps, make his fly speed 60ft when bearing a rider and 100ft when not? I'm pretty sure the int won't be much of an issue, though, but you would effectively by roleplaying two different characters.

What do you think? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Adijustin' tha' fly speed seems okeys. Maybe pay off the dent with more feats up tha' line?

Also, since tha' critter be so smart, we should make sure it (Him? Her?) dun't be cheatin' at cards none, neither. (¬_¬)

I honesty just went dragon based on the ship name. I was going to summone a Roc b/c a flying mount seems good in ship combat. I just went with the 10 int b/c Dragons are intelligent anyways and as a paladin mount it would have a 7 so it would still be pretty smart. Yeah a Roc has a fly speed of 80 and these guys are 120 so I split the difference, but slower is fine.
