Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
Before drawing more attention Gwenhwyfar teleports all back to the manor park. "Have fun back here. I'm going to meet with Jimmy again. Bye." and with another word she stands besides the pillow castle again.
She lets herself fall backwards into the pile. "This is so great. Can we start building the house now?"
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
Gwenhwyfar pouts. She as no interest in being reasonable now. She says a word and disappears.
She reappears besides the pillow castle with Abomentolor. "You can do those stonewalls. Would you build me a house here? I'll show you how." She takes her spear and starts drawing the floor plan into the dust on the ground around the pillow castle. "Here we need a wall with a large fire place. And here the kitchen. And here a bath room. And here between that I want large windows. But I don't know how to make them."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"You're doing that totally wrong. Have you ever built a house? Or seen how one is built? Lived in one?" Abomentolor asks dismissive of the layout. "Give me that." he demands taking the spear.
"You do the fireplace in the center of the house, not the outer wall. And then you put the kitchen in a way you can use the Chimney for the hearth too." All while correcting the drawings. Looking at the result he tells "And as long as you don't know what the window will be it's hard to know what the primary structures shall look like."
He casts a spell and rises off the ground. checking is from above he decides it's worth a try and casts Wall of Stone. Out of nothing appear all the walls that were only drawn on the ground a moment before. In solid stone. But only three feet high.
"You can live in your new house for a day and see if it is to your liking. My other castings for today I need to finish the repairs at my home." With that he flies back down to the tower clock and continues the work to reinforce the walls.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor looks at his work and is pleased with the result. No major cracks and no oles left in the tower. Next thing he is going to add new floors to the tower. But for today all spells for that are used and it will take a little more as all material has to be created and not only fillings.
He decides to go for a stroll through Underbridge to look for a large warehouse he could use to set up a brewery that can produce serious amounts of beverage and not only a few barrels that are barely enough to feed the guests of his tavern.
And so he visits Tauriell to convince her to come along. "Hey Tauriell. I want to get a warehouse to put my brewery in. Want to come along to choose one?"
Tauriell |
"Meh, what do you want with such a rotten warehouse? I thought you like style?" Tauriell replies bored and turns around in her bed. "Put it in the Gull. That's sturdy and last we checked it was empty."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Indeed - that is stylish and has the potential for another relief of me. Also it will for sure piss off that other guy with the bar." Abomentolor thinks aloud. "But it is at the other end of the district."
Tauriell |
"Only from boredom. Also it's a trap. I eat fresh princes for breakfast." she lies. "So what magic do you have to offer to get me there? Because I'm not going to walk if you don't."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Then we're flying." Abomentolor replies and casts the spell on Tauriell and himself. He then leads the way over to the Gull. Flying to the elevated entrance and landing there he tells "I totally forgot that it stands in water and there is no dry way to get there."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"No. That is lame." The gnome flies back around the Gull and checks the distance. Where it is closest to the land it is only a short distance from the piling to the dry ground. There Abomentolor casts his last Wall of stone to create a platform above the highest traces of seawater one can find at the Gull and a ramp with an underlying arch to the shore.
Looking at the creation he states "That's the way it is done!"
Tauriell |
"Yes, yes, very impressive." Tauriell agrees as she inspects that. But doing some quick calculation...
Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
... she comes to the conclusion "Only a dozen more castings or so until you have a ramp that actually leads somewhere useful and can offer a way for a wagon with horses. Or are you going to deliver your barrels by flying?"
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"There will be no barrels! Only bottles with my picture on the label." Abomentolor explains. "But I will for sure make a ramp that reflects my grandeur."
Tauriell |
"Delusions of grandeur you mean. But I get the idea. Let's go in and check out what lives inside." Tauriell suggests. As this ramp won't be done today she doesn't want to wait for the fly spell to end. Even though she fears that she will have to get wet on the way back.
GM Foxy |
The inside of the Gull is more or less like it was after the city watch cleaned the Creepers out of it. Some of the workbenches and tubs were dragged away as the orphans suggested to sew their clothes themselves and some more was carried away by some daring or desperate people from Underbridge. But everything upstairs of this first level is still where it was. Spiderwebs are collecting in the corners and some rats scurry around here and there. But besides that nothing seems to dwell there.
The only unusual thing is a chest that looks like made from fine wood and brass fittings that seems out of place. It is found in the former sleeping rooms between rotten straw where lots of rats have taken their home now.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
"Indeed. Even though it is only a start it already feels like a building." Gwenhwyfar replies. "Though I still have no idea how to get that glass ceiling. I hope it doesn't rain. And we also have no door to lock yet. How do we ensure our pillow castle doesn't get stolen while we check on the orphanage and the other things we wanted to do today?"
Tauriell |
Tauriell takes her bow from the shoulder. "Have some fire ready." she tells before she shoots two arrows at he chest.
Manyshot: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 212d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 7) + 3 = 13
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Ew." Abomentolor voices and shoots the asked for fire.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 124d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 5) = 18
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 204d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 2) = 12
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 194d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 6) = 18
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"I've got enough admirers who will fix that." Abomentolor replies. "Let's go back to the tavern and set that up." He leaves the stinking room behind and walks back to the entrance of the Gull.
With the last bit of the fly spell he moves back to the shore.
Tauriell |
Tauriell follows suit but hers runs out mid-air and she lands knee deep in the water. "Great. You could have warned me." she complains. She walks to the shore where she sits down and empties her boots. Then she follows back to the Shadow Clock.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Hey Isabell, we're moving the brewery into the Gull. And maybe the bar too." Abomentolor greets his preferred cleric.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Yep. The room is to small here for the brewery and it makes no sense to have the bar somewhere away from the brewery as you tend to both. Also Tauriell has a point that the smell of the brewery is annoying after a while and I want to live here." Abomentolor wipes away the doubts.
Tauriell |
"Yes. And it is pretty easy to do too. You just point Abomentolor that is even more megalomanic than this and he bites hook, line and sinker." Tauriell answers before taking a swig.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"It's much better than these warehouses. They are all ripe for demolition after only several years. And the Gull stands for thousands of years and is still in pristine condition. Only the insides need some cleaning as the last inhabitants didn't leave it well-swept."
Turning to the bar patrons he asks "So who is up for some mop duty in the future greatest bar/brewery in town? Free beer and food included of course!"
Niamh Mugin |
"Yay!" Niamh says with genuine excitement and hopps onto Hector's shoulders, catching her momentum with her arms as not to plump onto him.
"All right. Your tour starts with going out of the gate over there. Magnimar lies in the country Varisia, and we are in the Alabaster District of Magnimar, the richest district. There isn't much worth visiting here, only the Alabaster Park and the Serpent's run. I think Naos is my favorite district so far. We also have the capital district on this side of the city. Then there's a cut, where the darker parts of Magnimar lie. Tauriell and Abomentolor live in the Shadow's Clock in Underbridge. Then there are also Lowcleft, Beacons Point, Keystone and, but that's connected only by a bridge leading over the ondabakari river, Ordellia. I forgot Dockway, right? In dockway is a captains only tavern and, can you believe it? there's a woman that looks almost exactly like me only in BIG! The shortest way to Underbridge is through the Capital District, I guess we can visit the other districts later, what do you say?" she floods Hector with information.
Niamh Mugin |
"Brutus, are you coming?" Niamh leads Hector straight through the Capital District, pointing out the Cenotaph as they come across it. "It's a memorial for Magnimar's founder, who called himself Al... Well, I forgot the name. Whatever." She waves her hand as to wish the mention of his name away. "However, you shouldn't start digging around it, because he and his family were buried around it. Oh, and because there are some priests trying to prevent grave robbery. As some other 'sights' throughout Magnimar, it's said praying under it should have some positive effects." she shruggs and directs him towards the ramp. "Here we're walking into Underbridge." They walk straight to the Shadows Clock, Niamh filling Hector in with it's creepy reputition. "Here we are. Let me down, please. I don't think we fit through the tavern door together."
