Tauriell |
As Hector also misses this damned thing Tauriell start shooting again. At least arrows are cheap.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Tauriell |
"Obviously the remaining members of the mercenaries were clever enough to keep their hands from this machine. But thanks to the librarians we can at least let them pay for our healings." Tauriell comments ending her haste.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
Gwenhwyfar walks around to fix everyone up who is hurt. "If you outsource the healing to sticks, I will no longer come with you. If there is nothing left for me to do I'll learn some magical scrying and write journals from the nice and cozy room at the inn."
CSW Hector(cure disease): 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (7, 7, 2) + 9 = 25
CLW Hector(obscuring mist): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
CMW Tauriell(Spectral Hand): 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (1, 5) + 9 = 15
"Are you hurt?" She asks Jimmy.
Did you include the ward? because if not you would have made it with it.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
Gwenhwyfar checks on Jimmy just to make sure.
Heal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
She finds a rather nasty cut on his shoulder. "Real heroes feel no pain I guess." she smiles at him mending the wound with a gentle touch and a whispered word.
CLW(obscuring mist): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Then she puts another ward on him. "Just to keep you safe." she adds and kisses him on his neck.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"I said we didn't check thoroughly for loot." Abomentolor corrects. He walks to the room where the dead cuoatl lies on the ground and checks for magic auras.
GM Foxy |
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Then let's move on past this room." Abomentolor states and walks over to the next room where they found the two mercenaries and stops at the door to the following room. "Gwenhwyfar, of you would do me the favour and open the door?" he asks politely. "Out policy to shoot first and ask questions later still stands, right?"
Tauriell |
"We only shoot what we don't know and can handle. There are still two mercenaries left and these mind-eaters I guess we shouldn't shoot on sight." Tauriell details the policy.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"I'd be damned if I know anyone down here." Abomentolor answers Tauriell and to Gwenhwyfar he replies "You complained that you have nothing to do and it really helps to have my hands free when the unknown monsters come in sight."
the gnome takes a readied stance to throw something appropriate at anyone behind the door once it is opened.
GM Foxy |
The floor of this large chamber is covered with sand and littered with weapons and pieces of armor. Halfway up the eastern wall is a small balcony with a railing and a single ornate chair, like a box seat at a theater. A small, empty metal cage hangs by a chain from the ceiling, just a few feet below the twenty-foot high ceiling.
Over the chair hovers something that looks like a brain with two tentacles. And in the sand lie two heaps of gibbering flesh and mouths.
Initiative brain: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Initiative mouth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Initiative mouth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Knowledge(Dungeoneering) Ooze: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Knowledge(Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
"Kill the brain first from afar. Only direct hits no area effects." Tauriell explains as she releases an arrow at it.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
but misses. Which sucks. So she clicks her heels and shoots more arrows.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Which works better and makes a pincushion out of the brain.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Initiative: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
Abomentolor chuckles on Jimmy's problem and casts a protection from evil on everyone and then a scorching ray.

Damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Niamh Mugin |
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Niamh decides to try another performance and starts playing her violin. Inspire Greatness (on Hector)
A creature inspired with greatness gains 2 bonus Hit Dice (d10s), the commensurate number of temporary hit points (apply the target's Constitution modifier, if any, to these bonus Hit Dice), a +2 competence bonus on attack rolls, and a +1 competence bonus on Fortitude saves. The bonus Hit Dice count as regular Hit Dice for determining the effect of spells that are Hit Dice dependent. Inspire greatness is a mind-affecting ability and it relies on audible and visual components. Bonus Hit Dice: 2d10 ⇒ (7, 7) = 14
GM Foxy |
The brain is nailed to the chair with the longspear.
The gibbering mouths gibber towards Hector as he is in reach and try to bite him.

And they also try to grapple Hector.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
And they both stick to him.
Tauriell |
"As soon as we're back in town I'll buy you your own arrows, poor boy." Tauriell mocks Jimmy. "At that rate I'll need to buy a new pack anyway."
She drops the bow, moves into flanking position with Hector drawing her blade and tries to cut off the ugly thing.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 9 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 9 + (5, 5) = 34

"Graaaah. It's biting my arm." As Hector can't use his one arm he hits the blob hard with his fist.

Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 5, 5) = 24
GM Foxy |
The other blob melts to the ground too.
As the creatures are down for now there is time to look around. In the sand lies quite some amount of weapons and armor. But as far as the eye can see they are rusted or broken and mostly useless.
Tauriell |
Tauriell grabs five arrows from her quiver and hands them to Jimmy. "So you don't have to throw scrap metal at our enemies."
Then she makes sure the gibberish Hector punched is dead and stabs the brain two more times before she returns with Gwenhwyfar's spear. On the way back she stumbles over an item hidden in the sand that looks quite fine.
Appraise: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Picking it up she comments "Now that is a nice price for the effort."
Casting detect magic she also finds the ammunition for it spread out int he sand.
Spellcraft Bolts: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26
Spellcraft Crossbow: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
Returning to Gwenhwyfar she hands her the spear. "But I suggest you take that instead. You can use it while you stay in the back and the magic helps a lot with actually hitting the target. Just don't waste these bolts. They are especially to shoot humans and their magic effect is wasted if you shoot something else."
"And don't forget: If you encounter anything else but humans you have no ammunition." she adds with a smirk and a side-glance at Jimmy.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
"That looks quite nice!" Gwenhwyfar replies taking the spear and the crossbow from Tauriell. But with all hands full she can't take the bolts. So she sticks the spear into the sand and takes the bolts but misses a quiver for them. After trying in vain to put them into a pocket she decides to stow them away in her backpack until she gets the chance to buy one.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
"Given time I guess at least half of it." Gwenhwyfar replies after taking a look at the dagger and a short glance over the sand.
Mending takes 10 minutes to cast and you might need several castings per piece. To earn a rather measly sum. Gwen could put up a tent to sell healing for 60gold per casting (CMW 2x3x10) ad infinitum. So if you think you need more gold that's the way to go. Well, not really as she wouldn't insist on taking that much money and would even heal poor fellas for free.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"If you want to open a historical weapons museum - why not. But if you don't mind I would prefer to move on now and leave such things for later." Abomentolor suggests and leaves the room to walk further in the corridor.
GM Foxy |
The corridor leads to a door. The chamber behind the door is a squat cylinder with perfectly smooth walls, ceilings, and floors. In the center rises a stepped dais like a fivefoot-high ziggurat, with a flat platform on its top.
On top of the dais stands an obese gnome who has tears of blood running down his cheeks. "Come in! Here you meet Luonim the Vast, the greatest sorcerer in all of Golarion. Come and see my power." And so he continues to tell his own praises.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Do we know that guy?" Abomentolor asks "Because I just met him and know for sure I don't like him. He is fat and infatuated with himself."
