Abomentolor Goblinburner |
After a while Abomentolor comes back carrying a bucket. "I organized a quick and dirty solution for your privy problem." he smiles holding up the bucket.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"I did. You can have a luxurious lavatory with four stalls and all that connected to the sewer system." Abomentolor reports proudly. "The only drawback is that someone would have to cough up 220 gold for that."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor stands there with wide eyes. He had expected that there would be some prep speak and a collection of money. "Alright. I'll go tell them."
He leaves again to place the order.

Half an hour later the work starts besides the shrine. Four strong men with shovels and pickaxes start digging a hole into the ground and two more unload building material from a cart.
The building time for the sewer access is four days. The Lavatory also takes four days. So in four or five days the shrine will have modern plumbing.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
"Ok. Just make sure there is a corridor in front of them that starts at the door and that I don't have to set a foot outside to use the lavatories."
"Oh, and think of something that I don't loose the already sparse light through that window in the wall." Gwenhwyfar explains with a smile and then walks back inside.
Tauriell |
Tauriell walks to the shrine and informs everyone about the agreement she made with Wumbrout Brios. She takes all the new employees with her to the manor to introduce them to Wumbrout to get that done.
Last she goes to Abomentolor's room and checks what she has in her backpack and what might be missing for the trip.
She decides she need some things and goes shopping throughout the city and buys
- a jounal
- a pencil
- ten elven trail rations
- a waterproof bag
- saddlebags (to put Brutus to some good use)
- a travellers any tool
- canvas 5x10 foot packed and bound as a roll.
- a waterproof hat
- two sun rods
- a ball of twine
- chalk
She also bags a bottle of the varisian whiskey.
As she feels set for the journey she puts herself to bed.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor also takes a leave from the shrine. He walks over the bazar and buys some things he finds useful for travel.
Which are a scroll of alarm, a scroll of endurance, a scroll of comprehend language, a scroll of touch of the sea and a scroll case. He then also walks back to the manor.
As he sees Niamh in front of the door of Tauriell's room he asks "What re you doing there."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor opens the door and looks in. "Yes I think she is." and to Tauriell he adds "You know Carl and Ernard are not coming. You can sleep in your own bed!"
Tauriell |
"You need to sleep, you need to eat and everything you need to ensure that you should be able to carry. Or stuff it in these saddle bags I bought for Brutus." Tauriell replies.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor drops his stuff on the floor and jumps into the bed. There he rolls around some more until he has a comfortable position and goes to sleep.
Gwenhwyfar Yongisdottir |
Gwenwhyfar brings all the children to bed and as finally every kid has a place and half a blanket she sings them to sleep.
"Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
there's a land that I have heard of once in a lullaby
somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up where the clouds are far behind me
where troubles melt like lemon drops
way above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
birds fly over the rainbow why then oh why can't I?"
Perform (Singing): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Her voice as clear as a bell resounds in the vault of the main aisle of the shrine.
She then grabs her stuff and tells Carl, Ernard, Thomas, Daya, Rosanna to take good care of the children before she leaves with Jimmy to go back to the manor. "I would really like to stay the night here, but I have most of my stuff in the manor. And I'll get more sleep there too."
On the way she buys some train rations and a map makers kit.

The next morning everyone prepares early and then together they march to the hardour to seek out the 'Wanton Ways'. The Wanton Ways makes a monthly run between Riddleport, Magnimar, and Korvosa, and is currently bound for Korvosa.
Captain Yarnelle Fessender commands a compliment of 30 sailors. Yarnelle is polite and professional with the group, but makes clear she tolerates no shenanigans aboard her ship. The party can barely be squeezed onboard, as it is stuffed with Korvosa-bound cargo. Not an inch of extra space is left on the fat vessel.
Casual observation reveals that the captain’s first mate, Pockeye Sewel, is a rather brutal taskmaster and is strongly disliked by the crew. His brother, Chebby Sewel, quiet and shifty, is his right hand man and, by all accounts, an instigator who enjoys goading the crew into doing things that get them punished by Pockeye. Captain Yarnelle tolerates these two because of the efficiency their harsh manner achieves.
Just minutes before leavin a woman comes on board. The captain starts to argue with her but as she hands the captain a small but bulging pouch the captain accepts the pouch quickly and immediately changes her tune, obviously agreeing to let the woman join the already full ship.
Commandos are shouted over the deck ropes are untied and drawn in, the ship pushed away from the pier with long poles and the foremost two sails set. Slowly the Wanton Ways glides out of the harbour and soon is on it's way under full sails.
No comfort this time. Everyone is sleeping in corridors or on boxes between cargo under deck.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"Great. At least we are on a real ship this time. Maybe it will be less sickening with this one." Abomentolor says as he watches Magnimar disappear at the horizon.
Tauriell |
"I would say the weather is more important for your well being. But the main perk is that it will be over tomorrow already." Tauriell replies.
"But you trade the ship for some swamp. We'll see if that's better."
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
"If you were my sole source of encouragement I'd throw myself into the sea holding tight to a ship's anchor." Abomentolor retorts giving Tauriell a glare.
Tauriell |
"Don't despair. I'm sure you'll find something to burn that is not wet." Tauriell pats the gnome on his shoulder.
She leaves Abomentolor to climb up to the crow's nest and take a look around from the heightened position.

The coast looks much the same from here on. The vegetation changes a bit here and there but not much. Further to the south shallow banks appear off shore. Some just above sea level some not even that. Some other protrude from the water far enough for some vegetation to grab hold.
The ship navigates about a mile away from the shore which is hard to guess for the landlubbers, but the trained sailors eye can estimate it.
A school of dolphins swims and jumps along the ship for a while at noon. In the evening another ship under chelaxian flag passes from the south.
There is no service provided on the boat. Only water is free. Every passenger has to eat his own food. The crew has other things to do than talking to the 'passengers'. They treat them mostly like cargo that won't stay in place giving them glares if they are in the way.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Abomentolor longingly watches the coast. But as the sea is calm the ship is large and he stays on deck his stomach is fine this time.
He refrains from eating to be on the safe side most of the day. But as the sun goes down he places himself in one of the two boats on the ship and eats some dried fruits.
Tauriell |
Tauriell rags the guy in the crow's nest sometimes. As the chelaxian ship's mast becomes visible in the distance over the horizon she leans on the rim of the nest besides him. After a minute she asks "How long until you tell your captain that there is a ship?"
Foxy Quickpaw |
The ship is on it's course and the days work is done. The sailors go to the mess to take supper and then to have a few drinks. As it gets dark most of them move to their bunks or hammocks. Only a few keep on deck. They keep watch. Like the helmsman holding course.
Around midnight there is a noise. But probably only the creaking of the ship as it is gently lifted up and let down by the waves.
There was a strangled cry of pain at port.
Abomentolor Goblinburner |
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Abomentolor also wakes from the noise and sits up in the boat looking what the noise was.
Foxy Quickpaw |
At the now lit port of the ship stands the woman who boarded at the last minute. In her hand she holds a bloody dagger. Abomentolor and Tauriell get a last look at Chebby Sewel his throat cut from ear to ear before he falls backwards over the ship's rail and into the sea.
The woman alarmed by the light looks up.
