Spinning behind one of their attackers just as the wave of flame washes over them, Andi avoids the worst of it, her human shield taking the brunt of the blast.

Breathing a sigh of relief as Damari's healing quells the minor burns, she quickly utters the words to a spell, her body flowing through an intricate flowing series of steps that summon a half sphere of force around her as she goes dashing off toward one of the other archers, as Dalen and Alistair race toward the wizard.

With someone capable of casting fireballs, the more spread out they were the better.

Lily has the claws fade away now that there is no one near her. She moves 25 feet into the room, trying to keep herself separate from the group. She then points her finger towards the elf and two bolts of force shoot forth from her towards him.

Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6

Moving 25 feet directly forward and casting magic missile.


Fortunately, ranged weapons don't get AoOs without feats.

The remaining archers bowl over in what seems like terrible pain before collapsing into heaps, energy, perhaps souls even, seem to be pulled into the burning braziers within the room.
Suddenly, the braziers in the room flare up and you feel a deathly chill settle around you in the air despite the roaring purple flames. The elf wizard begins to cackle hysterically.

You are too late! It is finished! The Unclean one will welcome all of you into her bosom. Now, you can follow me, or, you can try to save that pathetic excuse for a town. hehe. Your choice, pathetic fools. Oh, if you choose the latter, I'd hurry if I were you. HAHAHAHAHA!

As he speaks he pulls out a piece of chalk and draws a door into the air. The Space within the drawing turns to a swirling purple. He steps into the swirling mist and disappears. The floating doorway is still open and swirling, though you cannot tell how long it will remain.

"Our first duty is to the town," Dalen grates out in a voice like an avalanche, "We'll settle up with that bastard after we save it."

He looked to the others, letting them see that he wanted to go after the elf and kill him, but he couldn't ignore his duty. With no other choice he runs for the exit and calls out to Elaina.

"Elaina, go see what's going on if you can," he calls out.

Elaina acknowledges the order before sprinting for the exit, praying that they'd be in time.

"We have no idea where he is going or what awaits us on the other side." He searches the room for any clues to point towards what they were trying to accomplish here.

"What did he do!", Damari quickly scans the area for magical auras and tries to figure out what just happened here. Detect Magic

everyone follow Dalen back to the town. Do what you can to figure out what is going on. I will catch soon. There is more to this place that we are seeing right now.

"No. It's a stupid move. If she's here all of us searching will take a lot less time than you alone and if anyone is still lurking here we'd be better equipped to handle it. Either we all leave now or we quickly scour this place, but I don't care how full of yourself you are, we aren't splitting up." Anduriel replies.


As you stop to speak the doorway closes shut, disappearing into itself. Damari Was quick enough to figure out it was some type of minor teleportation spell. He doesn't quite recognize the spell, however He is almost positive that it is likely a lower powered teleport, likely incapable of teleporting the caster, and any who follow, more than a mile away at best.

Damari, Alistair and Serill both notice a small crack in the wall behind the main brazier on the lifted area of the floor. It seems man-made, two of the purple torches sit close by to it.

Hope you don't mind me using some slightly home-brewn spells here and there. Anything I use will be made available to PCs. And as I said what seems so long ago, if anyone wants to try and make their own spells feel free to PM me an idea.

Still looking around the room Alistair chuckles to himself. Then without turning around, his voice is heavily flavored with boredom.
and here I thought you did not care about anyone else.....

He moves along the walls looking up and down for any sign of a door.
you forget yourself...I do not need your permission nor did I ask for your permission to do my job. Dalen and Elaina have already left, perhaps you could join them in saving the town from that elf instead of complaining. I will be along soon enough.

He makes his way towards the altar still not giving Anduriel any visual attention.
Your heavy breathing gives you away. Tsk, Tsk, Standing there with your hands on your hips, foot tapping away, and with that haughty holier-than-thou look etched on your face....is not becoming of you at all.

Dalen, though slower, rumbles along like an avalanche. Elaina is already at the horses and untying them when Dalen comes out of the cave. True to her orders, she races off to see what was ahead. Dalen quickly mounts his steed and snaps the reins.

"HYAGH!"

Tweedle rears and whinnies before galloping off after Elaina.

Ride Elaina: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Ride Dalen: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Rolls above for galloping over rough terrain if necessary.
As for distance, That was two hours at what I assume was a walking pace. Elaina and Dalen are running Twaddle and Tweedle flat out.


As Alistair tinkers with the braziers, he finds no traps, and as he touches the torch on the right wall a rough sliding is heard. The crack widens, revealing a chamber within. Within the chamber lies several mutilated corpses, many nothing but withered husks. Chained to the wall at the back is a woman, with short, black hair, it seems they never bothered to remove her clothes she was captured in, now covered in filth and grim the once lovely outfit is all but ruined. She appears unconscious.

Anyone attempting to push their mounts to the limit, please make me 3 ride skill checks, (Dalen and Elaina need two more) otherwise it will take around 2 hours at a comfortable trot.

Alistair walks into the room and towards the woman. His eyes glancing down and around the room. Wondering what happened to these people.
That does not look good or healthy.
As he walks he removes a potion from his bandoleer. Not able to determine if she is alive or not. He keeps his voice soft and comforting.

He raises a vial up towards her mouth
I have healing for you. Try to remain calm while I get you out of here.

What happened to them or better yet, what the f*** are they.

You should catch up with the others. They could use your magic with the defense of the city. IF they can even get there in time. It is up to you.

Alistair studies the chains on the woman and tries to pick them

The woman appears unconscious but alive, as you pour the potion down her mouth she coughs, looks up at you, then goes unconscious again. After a minute of tinkering with the manacles you pop them off and get her unchained. As for the dried husks around you, you can't quite tell what they are.

You or anyone left can give me a heal check here.

Alistair unchains her and gives her a once over.
Heal check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
He pours another cure light wound potion down her throat. He then carries her out of the room and down the hallway.
We have what we came for, now we can get out of here.
I am not leaving someone's sister here to die.

Once Alistair gets to the horse he will place the woman in front of him and starts to ride away.
He does not force the speed but will ride at a normal fast pace.

Serill goes ahead of Alistair, leading the way out with his blade ready. Once he has the girl secured and ready for travel he remembers the captives. "The farmer and the other cultist. I will get them. Go." Serill leads his horse to where they had tied up the charmed farmer and unconscious cultist who had come to collect him and checks on them both, hoping the cultist is still alive.

Damari stays for a moment to try and grasp what little information maybe left in this situation. He follows Alistair to the room of husks, "Erastil, what madness awaits us here." he examines the damage as best he can, praying that some of the towns folk haven't been replaced by undead monstrosities.

Once he finds out what he can, he goes back up top. Assist Serill loading up their prisoners. "We must hurry as well. No one knows what we'll be running into.

Lily follows after Andi, trying to at least stay with someone else. Everyone running off on their own is not going to end well for us.

Alistair makes sure that the others are loaded and ready to move before they start to ride.
We finished our task here, now let us see what we can do about the town. It is a long ride and I doubt we are going to make it back in time but we will try to do what we can. Let us see if we can catch up to them...


The woman appears severely dehydrated, while there is no physical damage, save some scraping and rash from the manacles shes likely in some type of coma state.

The two cultists are dead, drained seemingly in the same way the others remaining alive when the wizard departed were. The farmer seems to be snapping out of a stupor.

(Anduriel and Lily still need two more ride checks if they wish to reach the town at the same time Dalen and Elaina do)
