Male Human Cavalier (Daring Champion)

Before the story begins, Domenico adds to Theo's comment on their not noticing his race: "I had always simply thought that you were just growing the most magnificent beard, my friend. I admit some jealousy for how even and thick it is."

Upon the conclusion of the story and the follow up about weeds, Domenico rubs his chin in thought. "Again, I am no scholarly gentleman, but I assume that if, hypothetically of course, we could find copies of these proscribed books on gardening, well, it would be of great benefit to any gardeners out there."

Godlas mops his brow with a dirty sleeve, then sighs. "Forgive me for alarming you, new friends - particularly you, my lady." He nods at Qareen, who has sat bolt upright and re-veiled. "I get so riled up. Frustration with this, you know." He strikes his truncated limb. "But the truth is, I am too old to be of use as a gardener. All I can do is fill young ears with my prattle. But it seems well to me that others know of these weeds, should I meet my end soon. I implore you all to keep your mouths closed and eyes and ears open, and do what seems right to you." Qareen gives a decisive nod.

"As for those books, they have met their ends in the pyres of the Hellknights, I fear - unless others have been braver and more cunning than I, and hidden them better. But come, you have heard my tale, and Qareen's - can you not share your adventure with a bored old man? You must have a story to be trammelled here with an invalid and an alien! Perhaps it is more cheerful than mine."

Cambino slips into the Lush Leech and looks for his fellows, spotting them at the rear table in a winy cluster. He invites himself over, pulls up a chair, and whispers intently for a few minutes.

Marea facepalms.

Diego smiles and stretches out once more, enjoying the fire & the company. He takes another sip from his suspiciously still-not empty mug.

"Oh I don't know sir. Our tale is less of adventure, and more of just fighting boredom. One goes to work, goes out drinking with his friends, spends time with female friends, does a little bragging, does a little dueling with some over-primped peacock rapscallions who seriously had it coming,..."

Diego grins cheerfully and winks at Godlas.
"Entertaining at times certainly, but hardly bard-worthy good sir. One enjoys hearing tales that remind him to always aspire to something greater. After all, we should only be comfortable and stop striving to achieve when we've gone to meet our Powers, yes?"

Male Human Cavalier (Daring Champion)

"I was going to play some dice tonight, and instead of that, we decided to give an etiquette lesson to a man who seemed to had too few of those in his life," says Domenico. "Well, we taught him and his friends until he could stand it no more. Until, I suppose, he could stand no more. But alas, I did not teach as well as I think I could have, so I had to sit down and watch as my friends did all of the instruction."

He shakes his head, "Well, the coward cried loudly and it brought a bit more attention our way than we would have liked, so we fled with Cambino, who seemed to have thought ahead to find a suitable path for us."

"It sounds like you had an eventful evening. My dear fellows, I see no reason why your most admirable plans should be spoiled by rude intruders. We can have a game right here, if you wish, while we wait for Cambino to return." Godlas' eyes glow, and he stretches to reach a box on a nearby shelf and shakes it, producing a rattle familiar to all. "Shall we have a friendly game? I'm terrible at dice, of course, but you can teach me as we play."

In a bare-bones room at the local dottari barracks, an injured man reclines and answers the questions of the guardsmen. He waves away all healing until his captain arrives, bringing with her a priest of Asmodeus. Once he is healed and whole, the bearded man insists upon reading the document the dottari scribe has created, dictating a few changes before signing his name to the complaint. He waits with ill grace for the arrival of another dottari, who sketches pictures in accordance with the plaintiff's directions. In the end, she produces a parchment with three likenesses, one of which is distinctly feline.

The injured party shoves past his own captain and the cleric on the way out to the carriage. Once the red-and-black garbed party is gone, the dottari relax and discuss the incident. They all gather behind the illustrator, who skilfully adds a line here and there, a wart, the bump of a broken nose, leaving the images essentially as dictated, but significantly distorted.

Some time later, Cambino slips into the room, closely followed by Zoe, Marea, and Serana. The little room starts to feel quite claustrophobic with so many occupants, but Godlas seems to quite enjoy the company.

Domenico, Sense Motive DC10:
Serana is giving you significant stares, but does not interrupt the gathering to talk.

The streets are now clear of activity. You're free to chat IC or return to your barracks. Once you go to sleep, that will be a signal for me to move the story along; in the meantime, do what you like, and I'll roll with it... GM

Male Human Cavalier (Daring Champion)

Domenico happily plays dice with Godlas, even telling him tales of some of his adventures gambling or about his much more admirable sister (who he happens to admire very much, without a hint of jealousy).

When Serana arrives, he gives her a little wave and invites her to watch.

Sense Motice: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

After getting enough looks from her, the cavalier rubs the side of his head and speaks quietly to her, "Do you wish to discuss something?"

"When I can have your full attention," she murmurs back, "I know better than to vie with chance."

Male Human Swashbuckling Cleric of Cayden (Cleric 1)

Diego grins at Godlas' humble claim to be terrible at dice.
In Diego's experience, the ONLY ones who ever claim to be bad at anything are those who are terribly good at it, and are looking for new victims.

So of course Diego happily joins in the game, frequently refreshing his luck with sips from his mug. He joins in with a few anecdotes of his own, most are even mostly true.

When they are re-joined by Cambino and his dutiful friends, Diego happily waves at Marea, his manner indicating he is far from sober.

Marea appears at Deigo's side almost noiselessly, as halflings tend to do. She digs an elbow into his bicep and whispers, "The streets are clear, and you're on duty tomorrow morning. Might be time to sleep it off so you're not fired for being still drunk on duty."

Male Human Cavalier (Daring Champion)

Domenico nods to Serana and, while he plays a bit longer, this is to the goal of ending his play in a natural and satisfying way rather than to extend it as long as possible. The cavalier withdraws from the game, giving compliments to all who played well before doing so, and then says to Serana, "My attention is yours, we can speak without distraction."

"This is a... large thing, my lord. Your companions might be needed to assist. Can you speak for them, or should we all meet together that I might explain?" The elf does not meet the cavalier's eyes, and her hands are knotted together, white-knuckled.

"Balderdash! I'm not on duty!" Diego replies cheerfully, just loudly enough to prove that he IS, indeed, perhaps, a little drunk.

"Oh. Tomorrow. Right you are lass! Sorry lads,..." Diego looks at his meager winnings, and his not as meager losses, with a look that doesn't really seem all that sorry. Diego withdraws gracefully, and bows, mostly stable, to his host.

"I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality good sir. And the dice lessons. Much more instructive than some." He grins at Dom.

"But unplanned excitement & new friends aside, I DO have work to attend. Should be time for a brace of fresh air and a nap before duty calls? What do you say Lads? Shall we leave our host to some peace and quiet before the dawn? After all we JUST met the man, we cannot reasonably expect our new friend here to host our little party ALL night. We'll save that for the NEXT party!" Diego adds cheerfully, as he grins happily and winks in camaraderie to Godlas, already treating him as an old friend.

"No, thank you for teaching me the game." Godlas slides his winnings into a pouch. "I simply had the most extraordinary run of beginner's luck! And thank you for the company. Stop by any time."

Male Human Cavalier (Daring Champion)

"I know if I need them, that they will be at my side," says Domenico to Serana, "But perhaps best that they should join us to hear what is on your mind." He looks down to Serana's white-knuckled hands and adds, "As it seems to weigh on you heavily."

M Catfolk Daring Infiltrator 1

Theo sits his brow furrowed in thought for a time considering the story, and the mention of following rumours of demons. In this land rumous such as those typically placed him in with the demons just as he's sure they place the lady Qareen.

When the talk of dice comes up he decides to decline the game instead trying to make some conversation with Qareen perhaps hoping to find a kindred spirit as somewhat of a misfit around here, then again maybe he's just trying to take the chance to chat up a lady while Diego is distracted with drink and dice. "I know better than to play dice with Domenico he'll either take me for all I have, or lose all he has, borrow from me... and lose that too." His feline features shift to a warm smile. "Though if you do not mind he company m'lady I would be interested in hearing more about you. Perhaps there are more stories we can share, I do have a few I can contribute as well, though I don't think they're all that exciting. As a catfolk working my way up to a guard position in this town did present certain... let's say trials." If Qareen is interested he'll chat with her until the others arrive, if not it won't take too much to coax him to join the game of dice.

When Cambino shows up, he'll smile and stand to greet him and the others "Good man Cambino, you've brought the whole gang." he bows to his companions' lackeys "Fair ladies I hope we did not worry you too much when we failed to return... some fink called the dottari on us, and we were cut off of our means of return. Milord Godlas has been kind enough to provide his hospitality while all the fuss calms down."
