Vermin coos the the bugs, and pulling some spoiled food from a pouch on his belt offers it to all three of them.

Wild Vermin Empathy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

I have no idea what the DC is for this of if I get a modifier for offering food. But as a blight druid my wild empathy does indeed work on vermin.

See, they are just hungry. No reason to hurt the little guys. he says hopefully. I'll just put this food over here in the corner while we we search the room.

Taking a 5' step to E1, Fung hops with two quick kicks at the beetle's tough carapace.

Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

The first attack lands on the beetle's shell, and it now seems to be staggered. Fung's second kick swings high and misses.

Watching the creature die Vermin sheds a single tear. These creatures were only hungry.

*Splat* the other fire beetle is sliced by Harper, getting fluorescent goo all over himself.

Luccinus 5' up one square and power attacks the other one into the ground. Mighty swing to the head! (finally?)

Rubbish and black mold choke the far end of the chamber. The slightest movement kicks up dust and spores, choking the stagnant and already foul-smelling air.

Among the mess in the room’s northeast corner, there is a small bundle of four half-buried pieces of paper; all are written in Kelish.

Kelish:
These are 4 trade agreements. One of the agreements is between one Taliq Asad, the self-styled Satrap of Kortos, and a band of pirates that roamed the Inner Sea centuries ago. The other three are between Asad and a trio of Katapeshi merchants, surely all long dead.

The papers seem to be numbered at the bottom. These pages are numbered 1,3,7,15

Oh...the bugs? I wasn't even going to attack them until Vermy took a swing and missed. The way he was swinging his staff made me afraid for his health. It's ok though...I took care of them for him!
